Arsenal stars snubbed in favour of Chelsea by international coach

Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque has overlooked Arsenal trio Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla for his provisional squad for the upcoming European Championships next month.

Many countries have named their provisional squads ahead of the upcoming Euro2016 tournament in France this summer. Spain have now released the names included on their list, and is does not feature a single Gunner.

Hector Bellerin has had a great season in England, and even earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year. Despite his consistency for his club and his growth in stature and experience, he remains without a single call-up to the Spain senior side.

Nacho Monreal for me had a better season on the left of the defence, and was a surprise exclusion in the PFA Team of the Year. The 16-cap international now looks unlikely to add to his tally of appearances for his country, which is a shame.

Chelsea’s Cesar ‘Dave’ Azpilicueta was selected ahead of the pair, but his season was far from his best, and his inclusion is almost like a dig at our pair. The Blues Cesc Fabregas was also included in the squad, while another of our key stars was overlooked again.

Santi Cazorla has been an enigma since joining us from Malaga in 2012, but it appears likely that his fitness issues this term have played a big part in him being overlooked. He is also likely to have played his last game for his country, having turned 31 during the season.

I suppose we should appreciate the extra rest that our players will get ahead of the new campaign, but I feel like our players more than deserved their places. If Dave was not going, who would you take in his place? Hector or Nacho?

I think cazorla not going is good, he has only just returned from injury and we have missed him greatly this season. Imagine how we would feel if he got injured at the euros.

Of all the three Hector is the surprise exclusion. Unless he thinks the young rightback has no place in his future Spanish team he should have tugged him along. The youngman looks calm and level headed, qualities which will help see his career blosom.

Spain can probably survive without Cathorla
But England will regret not taking Walcott.

Am not surprised at Carzola’s exclusion from Spain’s Euro squad. He has been out with injury for a good part of the season. And besides it is good for us he is just back from injury and he and Bellerin will be well rested for next season.

Vincent del bosque is making a mistake by not taking Hector bellerin to the euros! Apparently he was living under a rock and was not watching the great performance by the young classy right back in the Epl for arsenal in the just concluded season!

Only beneficial for Arsenal, all these omissions. Gives our players more rest and keeps them humble hopefully. It will be hard enough to hold on to Hector in the coming years as it is, he gets hang out with winners all summer trying to convince him his future is at Barca or Real and not at Arsenal will not serve us well.
