Arsenal still need to go up another level in 2017

The Gunners have only lost three games this season, but many pundits and even many of our own fans (44% according to our JustArsenal poll) have already decided that the League title is out of our reach already. Even Arsene Wenger has already admitted that it is Chelsea’s title to lose, but that does not make it impossible, considering we are only halfway through the season.

Now Wenger has given an end of year report on his team, and he makes it clear that Arsenal still need to go up a gear in 2017. “We were consistent overall and I feel we have moved forward,” Le Prof said. “We were second in the league last season, but we want more.

“We want to show we can go again to the next level. Overall 2016 was an improvement year [in terms of] the quality of our results, but still not where we want it to be. We are conscious of that and we want to put in the effort to get to the level where we really want to be.

“[The players need] to keep the attitude they have now; the togetherness, the focus and get the hunger to always have that daily attitude to improve.

“We want to go higher up, we want to go to a different level and that demands absolutely that everybody contributes even more.

“We live in a world of small margins now, in every single game the margin has become smaller for everybody, so to be as close as possible to your best has become absolutely vital for that. You need players to be absolutely 100 per cent focused on every game.”

We have a bigger, fitter and more talented squad that at any other time in the last decade, and hardly any big injuries to hold us back. Now it is up to Wenger to use that squad to it’s best advantage, because the fans really would like to see the team go up a level next year. Please Arsene, do us proud….

  1. Beating the Eagles by a Large goal margin would be a fine way to begin 2017…however beating em at all cost is most neccessary as almost all our rivals carted away with 3 points today!

There’s no room for a dull moment…. 100% momentum required

  2. We are running a bit thin though with carzola out and elneny going out to the African cup It would be a very clever business if we could bring in a carzol type of a player that can operate any were as a front 3 pace agility accuracy
    Happy 17 folks

    1. Don’t think we’ll miss Elneny much and doubt very much if he’d get into the starting lineup of any of the other top 6 teams who all have far better players in his position.
