Arsenal striker keen on Italy move – But will Arteta let him go?

The Arsenal striker Lucas Perez was bought by the Gunners two summers ago at the end of the transfer window, but he quickly became an outcast under Wenger, who refused to play him as a centre-forward despite his brilliant form in La Liga the previous year. When he was given a chance in minor games he was very impressive even from the wing but still Wenger ignored his obvious capabilities, and it was little surprise that the Spaniard quickly became disillusioned and was keen to leave after just a year at the Emirates.

Lucas refused any offers from other English clubs and he was instead sent on loan back to Deportivo La Coruña. Now his agent has revealed that Lazio are keen on signing him, but the decision is up to Arsenal to decide. Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle said: “Lazio asked for him last year, but then nothing came of it.

“Lucas has always liked both Lazio and the city of Rome.

“And there [at Lazio] there is his great friend, Luis Alberto.

“He still has two years on his contract with Arsenal, so we need to talk to them first.

“As for Lucas, he likes the idea of Lazio, but it’s still too early to talk about it”.

So now we have an interesting thought that perhaps Mikel Arteta may decide that he could be useful to our campaign next season and bring him back to the Emirates. Having sold Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Giroud, we could probably do with extra cover on the wing or as a striker, especially in the early Europa League games.

Do you think we should bring Lucas back or let him go to Lazio?

  1. We have Nketiah that should be tried as no.4 CF.
But I will take Lucas in if he will come to terms that we have PEA and Lacazette.

  2. Well if Gazadis really want Arteta…he willl not let Arteta fail

there will be magical funds available for signings

    3 or 4 maybe……

may not be world class signings but in crucial position….such as GK, DM, CB etc….

  3. So Arteta has been named as our manager then? As for Lucas to me a non story as he has hardly played for us since joining. I’m more worried you’ve stated Arteta is our manager already. None of this looks or feels good.

    kroenke out !!

  4. not world class but defs better than iwobi! I guess it depends on how much Lazio is willing to pay for him. We should try to get De Vrij out of the deal, hes almost out of contract so wouldnt cost that much, i think we should offer 5-10m plus Lucas or even just a straight swap! I really hope these rumours of Koulibaly are true cause that guy is an absolute monster would be one of the best in the Prem if he came, great in the air, fast, strong in the tackle and great perception of the game fairly reasonable age and price too (53M). Also dont understand why we aren’t bidding for leisters ndidi, guys got most tackles in the premier league (more than kante) and reads the game well, would definitely compliment Ramsey in midfield and shouldnt cost too much! Also quite young

    1. Iwobi has been playing some good football in the last few games i was well impressed with him lately his bridling and confidence has excelled but his final delivery needs working on

      1. he’s just been not as terrible as he usually is. To say he’s been good is an overstatement. Many players over the years have strung together decent performances towards the end of the season, then they go right back to being crap when the new season begins.

  5. Leno

    bellerin koulibaly De vrij Kolsinac
    ndidi ramsey
    ozil
    myhki Laca PEA

Definitely looks like a top 4 team

  6. I think we should give Lucas another chance under our new coach. He is a fantastic player, scored a couple of goal and even scored a hat trick in one of the matches he played for us. I think he will be a good back up for our forward lines

    1. He can be used in right hand side so it will Mikhi competition… Currently Mikhi only plays on right….

      1. why would we want a striker to play as a winger isn’t that the AW way and we was complaining for years? let him go somewhere where he can play his trade as a striker

  7. 2nd team

    Cech
    AMN Kos chambers monreal
    elneny xhaka
    jack
Campbell (still a big fan of him) welbeck iwobi/nelson

  8. This article might be missing the point but highlights a wider issue that probably deserves more discussion here.

It won’t be Arteta’s choice (or whoever is named manager/coach). Ideally he will have input but the decision will be made upstairs by Gazidis et al. It’s the new normal – straight from the pages of professional sport in North America. Will it work? Anyone’s guess but I do think the last few years have shown that too much power in the hands of one man isn’t a guarantee of success

  9. After losing top talent like Walcott and Giroud we need to bring Perez back for our next illustrious run in the EL.

    1. 😀 You legend.

      £75 mils to spend? Okay:

      SELL
      Ospina – £5m
      Perez – £15m
      Xhaka – £20m

      GK – Leno £22m
CB – De Vrij – FREE
      CDM – Meyer – FREE
      CDM – Fabinho – £40m
RW/LW – I don’t know about this but we have the funds available if we get rid of few deadwoods.

      1. CDMs are like buses – you wait over a decade for one and then two come along at the same time ???

          1. They were too busy trying to get Arsene to surrender his security pass to focus on transfers

      2. Exactly. It will be 50 million plus sales which could be another 50 million. So around 100 million on 4 players. Not an enormous amount but definitely do abull

  10. Abou Diarby spent 6 years
    in the Arsenal medical room.
    The retired French international was
baggage man for the under 7’s at Marseille this season.
He will interview for the Arsenal managers job on Monday.

  11. I wouldn’t mind Perez back in the squad. Didn’t have the best season at Deportivo, but every time he played for us he was good. Unless we go for a new winger in general I’d rather him stay, sell off Welbeck.

    1. you cannot compare Perez with Weback i’m sorry but Welbeck is miles ahead of him, without contradicting my self with the above comment to Kedar i truly believe if Welback excepts playing as left winger instead of as a striker he could be tremendous and one of the top players in the EPL in that position, his work rate and speed is amazing his a good crosser but a lousy finisher

      1. Walcott was the same before he thought he was a striker he was a great winger and he can still be again but they have to believe passionately to become good wingers instead of average strikers

          1. If Perez was given the same opportunities as Welbeck was continually given he would have scored far more goals. He never seemed to be trusted by Eenger so why was he bought to begin with

          2. We don’t need Perez but we need Welbeck’s services from the left wing and if injury we need his striker services, basically his our joker

  12. Will Arteta do this, will he do that, blah blah blah.
He needs to be confirmed as our manager before he does anything.
And as far as I’m aware he’s not yet been appointed and possibly never will. Let’s speculate what he might do if and when he joins us!

  13. My gut feeling arteta is going to be ruthless like pep concerning players attitude and mentality! Pep is 1 of the best managers in the world he would have not hired him for nothing! It’s up to arteta to pressure the board on funds to make the team solid! I bleed red coz I’m a gunner!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Totally agree with you-I can’t believe Arteta will allow himself to be anyone’s puppet and will not just roll over.Whether we like to hear it or not both Pep and Poch are with Klopp as the most progressive coaches in the Premiership and it is widely reported Arteta turned down a coaching role offered by Wenger and Poch to work with Guardiola at Citeh.
IF he is offered the job he will make a difference to the utter dross we have had these last few seasons when competing with the top sides.

    1. Imbraham, I would like Dennis Bergkamp brought back into the Arsenal fold, now that Ajax has dispensed with his services.
