Can this young hitman fix Arsenal’s striker problem?

In last summer’s transfer window, Arsenal Wenger assured all of us Arsenal fans that the club did not have a striker problem, and Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck were all world class and had more than enough firepower to win the League title.

This has proven to be patently wrong and, if Wenger stays, he will have no excuse whatsoever not to bring in a new arrival to try and fix our seasons-long striker problem. So it is great news that the Gunners have been making enquiries about the highly talented Umar Sadiq, who plays for Italian side Spezia but is presently on loan at Serie A giants Roma.

“Yes we have been approached by Arsenal,’ said Sadiq’s agent Mohammed Lawalb. ‘But they are not the only team interested in Sadiq as Borrussia Dortmund are also pushing for him.

‘In the coming days or weeks we will know where he is heading to, but for now he is very happy and focused at Roma.’

Although only 19 years of age, the 19 is already a massive 6ft 6in tall, and is scoring goals for fun in the Roma youth team, and has scored twice in just six senior games. He looks like he has got a very promising career ahead of him, but it must be asked if someone of that age will be able to come straight in and lead the line for Arsenal in the Premiership.

It may be the best we can hope for as there is no way Wenger will go out and spend 50m on a proven hitman to solve our striker problem, is there?

  1. Juve got Dybala for £20Mil

Did anyone see his goal in the last round of the CL?

    We could have had him..but…

    1. I agree. Dybala would have been cool. As bad as Kronke is, he would not have stopped a £20 million transfer.

I know we probably could not have got Aubemeyang, Reus, Greizmann, higuain but wonder if we even tried.

Martinez, Manduzic, Morata, Lacazette could have been worth a try.

Ibrahimovic said he wasn’t even contacted by Arsenal. His wages were very high though even though transfer fee would have been cheap. But he probably wouldn’t have left PSG anyway

I still can’t believe we didn’t sign a single outfielder last summer. Dybala and Krychowiak would have sufficed. And would have cost less than £50 mil

Anyway, come season ticket renewal time we will here from Gadizas and Wenger about are HUGE war chest.

      1. Giroud has scored 22 goals this season. And has 4 assists…he is doing his share…we have players who are just not performing.. Like Ramsey, Theo, lecoq(he has been awful since his return from injury,I’m starting to get worried about him), Sanchez has been very bad too..we can blame many players but I say our strikers are OK .it’s the midfield and wings where we lack sharpness. We could use a world class cb.DM and a winger…

        1. 22 is a fair share, but how many prem goals has he got, and how many times do we multiply the chances vs goals. Your right though about the others, Alexis and Walcott have let us down greatly. Ramsey, well we all wanted him to stay back and pass a little longer, and more often simpler, so not really going to say he should have got more goals as it is a case of one way of playing or the other ..make up the mind.

    2. but Nah……. Wenger wants Umar sadiq to save the worLd…. Another one for the future……to be incorporated into our boring kinda play

Dear Crusaders…… I say…. TURN ON THE HEAT

Let’s send these men (Wenger and the board) packing

  2. How to put pressure on Stan, the Board and by association Wengers position.

A basic guide on grabbing both the Arsenal Board’s or perhaps more importantly the Medias attention. Remember the fuss 1 banner made!

    1. Stop buying Arsenal merchandise

    2. Stop attending matches (watch the box instead). Scrap the season ticket or if ad hoc visitor to Emirates go to less games, miss just home games…

The more sacrifice made in greater numbers will have the most impact.

    3. If you can’t stay away from a match but want Stan and his ‘Moneyball’ winning isn’t important mentality then make a banner or buy one:

    HTeeTeePee://www.vistaprint.co.uk/banners.aspx?txi=14919&xnid=AllProductsPage_Banners+(linked+item)_Signs+%26+Banners_All+Products&xnav=AllProductsPage

    A 76cm X 366cm pvc plastic banner costs £29.99 (chip in with friends?) or a 52cm X 91cm banner costs just £5.99.

What to put on it? Some suggestions:

    Arsenal: For Glory NOT Money
    SOS USAMOV
    Arsenal Soccer Brand
    (previously AFC. 1886 – STAN)
    Football NOT Moneyball
    SAVE OUR CLUB
    STAN OUT
    AFC. MORE THAN A BRAND
    ON YOUR HORSE STAN
    FOOTBALL FOR FANS, NOT STANS

    Be creative…

    4. Protest (peacefully) outside of stadium on or outside of match days. Get connected with other Fans who want to see the back of Stan and ORGANISE.

(Thanks to redDb10) this could also be missing the first 5-10 minutes of a match by waiting outside the stadium in protest.

    5. Voice your concerns on social media and share your activities (Twitter/Facebook/blogs etc..)

Doesn’t seem like we have the power to do much but it’s all about the numbers. If AFC fans make a stand together we can effect the running of our club by raising awareness of our plight.

You must ACT as talking alone will achieve nothing. So if you really love the Arsenal DO something that will either A. Hurt the pockets or B. Get some attention to the cause (in a peaceful and controlled way).

Stan Kroenke see us as nothing more than one of several sporting investments, none of which have had any real success since his involvement. Stan not only doesn’t put anything into the club but takes money out of the club under the pretence of ‘strategic consultancy services’ and is more interested in Moneyball than football.

Like he said himself, he wouldn’t of got involved if it was about winning championships!

    1. I really like this. Hope you spread this all over the web, in every Arsenal site. I’m waiting for a while now, for someone who makes this. Anyways, I’m with you. If you love Arsenal, you’ll support this! I for one, will stop buying merchandise, as long this situation is going!

      1. Cheers Red.

We do need to spread it but I can’t do it alone so If you are a member of another Arsenal site then please do copy and paste my post (just get permission from admin of the site first if your gonna keep re-posting it, which is the point)‎.

We all need to do a bit so if you can share the post, refrain from buying Arsenal merchandise or are willing to stay away or protest at games then you can sleep safe that you are doing what you can to stop the rot.

        ‎#ArsenalForward

        1. It won’t work. I really like your idea about trying to get Usmanov in but it won’t work in my opinion. We are not in a critical enough state for masses of people to stop doing the one thing they probably love the most (visiting games). If they could all do something like this, well then AFC would have no trouble with the atmosphere in our ground. Seeing as we can’t even sort that out, well I doubt they will stay away from games to try and help matters. You will probably achieve – People moaning allot more than regular.

    2. you have a multi billionaire who has more then one sports club and you can bet he has a team of financial wizards that advise him day to day, ( specially how to make and how to hide profits)

from AFC accounts it clearly shows ” OUTGOINGS ” and ” INCOME ” of our club there is a huge difference in favor of profits, it started from a year and a ago and will continue for the next four years that’s when we negotiate our new terms with our Sponsors again,

if we the fans have to put pressure it will have to be towards the owners now because i think AW is an intelligent man but with less powers then we the fan give him credit for and its clear now from his recent outbursts his loyalty lies with his employers and not the fans,

i agree with Arsen on one thing and that is we can beat anyone on the night, hope that night is tonight 🙂

i shall be supporting my club tonight with the 999 services on fast dial on my mobile,

wishing our players the best of luck for tonight, win or lose make us proud

      1. Wengers loyalties have to lie with the board/kroenke, if not he would soon be replaced. Anyone in any organisation who supports the customer and is against the management would soon be looking for a new job.

Its Kroenke who has to realise that to grow the arsenal brand (as he sees it) then it is important to clallenge for and sometimes win things. This means winning PL not coming fourth.

  3. How about Lukaku? Aged 22 and he’s got 60 Premier League goals already.

Arkadiusz Milik is doing extremely well for Ajax. His stats are similar to Suarez when he was there.

There definitely are strikers available who have potential to become the best striker in the league.

    1. I agree with the Lukaku proposal. He wouldn’t do worse than what we already would he. Though knowing Mou, he might have put a clause in his contract that the players should never be sold to Arsenal.

      1. Lukaku should have been signed up when he was 19,
But once again, Wenger bulked at the price tag!
Which was around £9 million at that time and now you think that Wenger will part with £50 million for Lukaku?
Well, that was the price Everton valued him at in January,
It will probably be even higher in the summer.

        1. The Milik one is a decent idea. Cannot see us getting Lukaku, and I don’t think there was ever a time were it could of happened. We should buy the Ajax lad along with an expensive signing, then loan D Malen, back to Ajax, and let him get the Dutch treatment

    2. Fact is…..Even Lukaku may become useless under wenger

to get the best out of him, u’d need to play to his strength

unfortunately we are boring (pass pass possession pass) and don’t play better attacking football

  4. – Ibra for free
    – Yaya Toure for free
    – Umar Sadiq for ????
    – DM ?????
    – Defender ??????

    – Sale Walcot, Yaya Sanogo, Gnabry, Ospina
    – Release Arteta, TR7, Flamini
    – Loan Akpom, Silva, Jenkison,

    Starting 11

    Cech
    Bellarine new defender Kos Monereal
    New DM yaya
    Welbeck Ozil Sanchez
    Ibra

Bench: OG, Campbell, Gibbs, Gabriel, Ramsey, Schz, Carzola

    Manager: New guy

  5. wenger missed out on higuain martial dybala hernandez lewa reus auba and lukaku.
But instead got giroud walcott and welbeck.
I hope he looks out for aguero and vardy in the summer .
    But anyway.
    thats his nature

  6. Yes, Umar Sadiq may be doing very well at Roma academy school. The Boss could bring him to the Arsenal academy school to be brushed up properly in the Arsenal way of playing. And also to acclamatize with the general way of playing football in the Premier League. Can he first come to Arsenal on a trial or loan to the academy school?

Talking of the Under 19s, I think Arsenal have them many in their academy school with Willock been the outstanding young Gunner striker from the school. All that remain now, is for the Boss to unearthed our own Rashford who is hidden in our academy school. What is the Boss been waiting for before he unearthed Willock to give him a game or even a start in one of the remaining 9 BPL Arsenal games. When the Boss does that, we’ll known if we have a Rashford in our backyard or to go out and bring 1 in.

    1. I reckon Willock will turn out to be much better than Rashford. Rashford was extremely lucky to be in the right place right time on two occasions. Any other Prem team would have kicked that boy from one box straight back into his own box. Except we had Gab the great ball watcher and who gets attracted to balls like magnets. Willock physically is developing much better, he has the pace, also the cleverness. I don’t know if he will make it as an AFC starter but I think he will be better than Rashford.

    2. Have u seen our academy LateLy?………… Downhill……. We are Losing it in all areas….. 1st team, bench, Un21…. We even Lost yesterday against Aston villa

      such a shame!

  7. @sam AK, uv been getting the most thmbs down on this site coz ua comments are usualy longer than the articles…just an observation mate.

    1. I actually prefer the effort, shows they are thinking about it, whereas the short quips are not really going to give away a great deal.

  8. It is Pointless talking about transfer’s at this stage of the season, Especially Whilst there is alot of uncertainties at the club!
Will Wenger still be in charge?
Will we even qualify for champions league football next season?
As the answer’s to these two questions will play a big part in who comes and goes in the summer transfer window!

    1. @fatboy………. And i’m hoping EL-neny is the Last piece of business conducted by Wenger for Arsenal

  9. Say whatever you like about Wenger, he does know how to spot them often enough. Looking up Aubemeyangs stats, and I am left feeling sick we didn’t get him. I remember when he was first on the move from France, it seemed ourselves along with Dortmund, where the only two interested. It’s a pity Dortmund held on so tight, things could have turned out so different. That is the problem when Arsenal look into players, our reputation for unearthing players will make them think twice. This lad here looks like he could be suited well for the prem, the only doubt about his size, is how those players with the stick long limbs can rarely ever build up their muscle strength. I wasn’t keen on Aubemeyang at the time, not another new Henry which never works out was my thinking. So Ill just watch this one as it unfolds.
