Have Arsenal title hopes SOARED after Chelsea’s Costa crisis?

Well after the Arsenal players did their bit by keeping up the pressure on our Premier League rivals with a good away win at Swansea City today, we can just sit back and hope that the three points prove extra useful with some of the clubs around us dropping points.

Tomorrow we Arsenal fans will be hoping that Everton can do what they did to us before christmas and take all three points off Man City at Goodison Park and then in the big match between Man United and Liverpool I would love to see our rivals take just a point apiece.

Before that, however, we will be hoping that the reigning EPL champions Leicester city can stop the current table toppers Chelsea from extending their lead. The game is being played in Leicester but an even bigger advantage for the Foxes is the fact that Diego Costa is not even in the squad, with some rumours flying around the football media about a big bust up between the Spanish international striker and his manager Antonio Conte.

Even if Chelsea do get the win today that most expect, this Costa situation could have an adverse effect on their own title hopes while giving Arsenal’s a big boost. After Tottenham ended their winning streak last week, is the tide turning in the title race?

  1. They are Chelsea, crisis doesn’t matter, they are motivated enough.. we had some few contract dragging issues of our 2 main players and we dropped to 5th.. one is a spirit of a champion and the other is Wenger’s 4th trophy spirit

  2. We have some ok fixtures coming up, if we do what we done today and quietly go about it, we then have a small chance against Chelsea themselves. It’s possible, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. We seem to talk about what we need to do, the players, and then it ends up looking like nothing but talk. That’s why I said quietly go about it. Leicester said they got a boost last season, by us talking allot, after narrowly scraping by to claim points, we need to avoid this type of stuff. Lets not give other clubs more reason to stick it to us. We have allot of work to do, the players need to understand this, they have to want it more than the next team. Each player has to want it more than the next player, and that goes for managers too. Fans too, contrary to what some in here would have you believe, fans play a part too.

  3. With today’s showing i.e. Chelsea currently leading by 0 – 3 (without Costa) and Sanchez having another public melt down (for the cameras), our title hopes should be directed a lot closer to home and deal with our own diva. The way he has been behaving, at first was ‘cute’ and a sign of a winning character but now it is beginning to wear a bit thin. For the same reasons as why Costa has been ostracised i.e. affecting the morale of the club, Wenger should seriously consider taking steps to pull Sanchez into line as he is getting too big for his boots.

Ps: I love the guy really but no one is bigger than the club.

    1. Well said,I’ve been saying for weeks that Sanches and Ozil need to re think there attitude. With Welbeck Lucas Oxy Walcott back soon, drop them, but Wenger is not a Conte or a Fergi his make up is about being on personal feelings than a boss to bring in line players who at times are to big for there own boots. Would love to see a game without those 2 with Gazola Coquelin back and a pick of the squad all injurie free. CB

      1. I would not eqbt to see that match…sure walcott can take the place of alexis when the second has been more important for us in 3 years than the first in 10 years…im not ok with alexis attitude yesterday but u dont know if that was because he was sustituted…maybe he was not ok with his performance or he want mire goals, and thats ok for me, that attituted u will never see in theo because he born here under wenger and he is ok with his wages that he dont deserve and being 4th…im ok with alexis attitud in boros game, because a draw was not enought for arsenal, and im ok with him when he ask for the salary he does diserve…for me he is one of the best in the epl, maybe the best, and without any question who makes things happen in our team…he deserves 200 or 250k a week more than any in our team, even moseur wenger…ozil deserve 180k only because he is going up with his performances and have show more attitud than ever…ur famous theo deserve 80k or go and play at west ham

        1. Why did you pick on Theo, all this money per week is bull shit, Coquelin has more heart than Ozil. If players want to be paid $200.000 then perform every game. Wenger is weak when explaining Ozils performance. If the “” star “” players want more go else where I bet Ozil won’t get 180 as you say anywhere else. I hope he goes as Wilshire will do better now he is fit and has game time. CB

    2. Accept wenger of course … Oh and his band of comfortably numb fans happy with 4th place and a kick around in champions league group stages .. Shouldn’t forget them

  4. problem this yr will be spurs, said it early, we need to beat them when we meet, nice win today, being on the road as well.

  5. What a shameful article to write, what’s our business with Chelsea? We should focus on how to win our games instead of hoping for a crisis at another club. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves we are delighted about the win,but it was against a poor team, low on confidence and gave no serious fight till the end. We need to be consistent. Sanchez wasn’t happy at getting substituted because he just scored a goal and probably wanted to score more, its now Wenger’s job to make him understand why the changes was made and he have to live with it as he’s not bigger than the club.
