Arsenal to beat Spurs to transfer of Bellerin replacement?

Assuming that the Arsenal transfer rumours about Hector Bellerin are correct and his boyhood La Liga club FC Barcelona are determined to take him back to Spain this summer, then Arsene Wenger will need to find a top quality replacement for the Spanish right back.

And if the rumours doing the rounds about our north London rivals are true, then the Tottenham and England star Kyle Walker could be moving on as well, leaving Arsenal and the spuds potentially chasing the same players because we both need a right back.

Well that could be about to happen because The Mirror is reporting that our local rivals are looking at the PSG and Ivory Coast star Serge Aurier and those of you who keep up on Arsenal transfer issues will surely remember that Aurier was strongly linked with a transfer to Arsenal during the summer when we ended up signing Matthieu Debuchy.

The 24-year old Ivorian has failed to extend his contract with the French club and is apparently thinking of going elsewhere and I reckon Arsenal could do a lot worse. The chances of us beating Spurs to his signature are pretty strong as well because it appeared that he was keen to become a Gunner two years ago and photos even emerged of him in an Arsenal top.

So is Aurier the player to replace Bellerin if he leaves?

Bob.

  1. Aurier would be good.
He has pace, crosses the ball, good passer, good tackler

But I believe Bellerin is better than Aurier
I’d prefer to keep Bellerin if possible

  2. The other RWB at Arsenal is The Ox who has yet to sign a new deal, why focus on Bellerin leaving when he has told you all not to believe everything you read, he has not pushed to leave and he has reassured us supporters that he is happy at Arsenal.

Cesc was always flirting with Barca, Bellerin hasn’t… Messi has said he wants Bellerin and if Bellerin wanted to leave then he could have used that as an excuse to push but did he?

    So for me…
Will he cost less than £40 million?
If so then get him and sell Ox, make a profit.
    If not then keep Ox.

Ox is injury prone so Aurier could be tempting… Bellerin and Aurier as our RWB choices, that sounds like a EPL challenging quality to me.

    1. Serge aurier can walk into any top European club barring Real Madrid and be an automatic starter and I reckon he will be among the best rb/rwb for the next 10 years so unless he isn’t getting the starting job out right then this transfer is useless

  3. Are we signing anyone?

Utd is signing belotti, morrata and the swedish cb

City signing sanchez and signed 2 brazilian

Chelsea sigining bakayoko with him and kante…formidable

    Spud signing lemar

Title and top 4 lost before the season starts

    Same old story

  4. We cannot do the business like others as simply. We cannot offer them champions league football. World class players are reluctant to come to arsenal. For these past two or three seasons, arsenal had champions league, but was not ready to spend big. I think now they are ready to spend, but they have no pulling power without champions league.

    1. We haven’t been able to compete with other clubs in signing players since David Dein left. Sanchez and Ozil were surplus to requirements at Barca and Real. We got lucky with Sanchez but he wants to move to a club with ambition and no one wants to pay money for Ozil so he will go for free on a Bosman transfer in January.
Add to that the other players on 12 months left, Ox Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, Mert and Cazorla. Granted Gibbs will probably be sold, Mert may retire and Cazorla will be assessed mid year.
I think Arsenal should cash in on Wilshere right now but they need to resign Ox and Ramsey. Say what you like about them, Ox will come good and no one in the squad works harder on and off the ball than Ramsey.
Arsenal can’t afford to lose too many players or they will be falling even further behind.

  5. Is this the same serge Aurier that was refused a UK entry visa recently due to his criminal record?

We have failed miserably with home office red tape in the past. Let’s go for sidibe instead.

  6. No one wants Ozil but Arsene in severe pressure to offer him 270 000 per week.
Sell these players: Ozil, Giroud, Jenkinson, Debuchy, Mert, Montreal (not Gibbs), and Chambers.
Activate buy back clause for Serge Gnabry, bring back Joel Campbell, and buy Aubumeyang and James Rodriguez/Julian Draxler

  7. As a Spurs supporter I wouldn’t put much credence in stories we are after Aurier. Firstly when a player who hasn’t played in the premier league arrives it always seems to take him a season to adjust (with us anyway). Secondly Pochetino has confidence in Trippier, if Walker goes he will probably be first choice. Thirdly we have Kyle Walker-Peters on the books (currently with the England under 20 team) who is very quick and who Poch seems to rate. In recent years we have done much better at developing players than buying the finished article. If you want Aurier I doubt we will stand in your way.
