Arsenal to bid £65 million for top class Chelsea target?

After Arsenal reached the final of the FA Cup with a victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Emirates, there is some fascinating transfer gossip that has emerged in regards to the Gunners. According to a report from the Daily Star, Arsenal are preparing a £65 million bid for the Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as the club prepares a massive summer overhaul ahead of next season.

The report further claims that the North London club will go through with the move irrespective of what happens in regards to the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga. The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be aware of the necessity of a prolific striker at the Emirates and has apparently identified the Belgian international as the perfect fit to lead the Arsenal attack next season, and it is easy to see why.

Lukaku has once again been in red-hot form for the Merseyside club and has soared to the top of the goal-scoring charts, notching up as many as 24 Premier League goals with none of them being penalties. With the Belgian international refusing to sign on fresh terms at Goodison Park, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal can take advantage of the situation and lure the player to the Emirates.

In my opinion, Romelu Lukaku would be a perfect signing for Arsenal. The player is blessed with brute power and blistering pace to go with lethal finishing skills and a knack of being at the right place at the right time and most importantly, he is proven in the Premier League. Considering that he is still only 23, the former Chelsea man is only going to get better and any potential purchase would be a sound investment not just in the present, but also in the future.

In addition, I believe Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are both waiting to see if Wenger brings in top-quality reinforcements in the summer before they make their decision in regards to a new contract, so the potential capture of the Belgian will serve as a statement of intent to our star duo as well. But with Chelsea also believed to be in the race to sign the prolific striker, Le Prof better move fast if he is serious of landing his man.

  1. Yeah good luck offering 65m for Lukaku when he’s vastly improved over last season, when Chelsea offered 70m and it was still rejected.

  2. He’s got 84 Premier League goals at the age of 23. If he stays in the Premier League, he can surpass Thierry Henry’s goal record way before he turns 30.

    1. May or may not be relevant but Sky were reporting last night that Marseille want Giroud for £20 million in the Summer. If true, the deal for a younger and better Giroud replacement makes sense.

      1. This would be a very good deal for us if it is true but Giroud wont be going anywhere until we have secured a new CF of our own 1st.

Not actually sure who my 1st choice replacement would be though, Lacazette/Lukaku? There aren’t too many realistic options.

Got a feeling this could be a long and painful summer transfer window, just for a change…

          1. That depends on the movement of our other forwards, its looking unlikely Perez will be here next year (although I would like him to stay) and who knows what will happen with Sanchez.

Selling Giroud without having a replacement would leave us far too short and Welbeck isn’t good enough to start upfront in my opinion.

        1. Bla, Bla , Bla..Here comes the usual SAGA. Specially now when we are likely to miss UCL the big transfer target is lukaku for 65 millions. We offered 40 million and one pound for Suarez and this said it all.I woul offer 40 millions for Lacazzete , 45 – 50 Mbappe or 50-60 for Abumayang ( Dormund will take it ) This is a show of iNTENT NOT buying Takuma Assano and send to Germany on loan. they always deceive the Arsene’s Brigade with promises of millions to spend in transfer then end up with Sanogos or kim Kallstroms. i always said it and will stand by it. Arsenal scouting team is the worse in the EPL. only this change with a new Coach. 20 millions for OG rumoured but Wenger said he will want to keep him but not Lucas Perez? No new contract for Ozil or Alexis? We will not progress any more with the same Crew and Captain and it is not a Hatred innuendo here. it is the fact that last year 100 millions were given to assault the EPL after 2015-2016 debacle and this season we went backwards.

        2. We won’t pay whats needed for either Lukaku or Lacazette. They are out of our price range now. We should have bought them two years ago when they would have been 30 mill or less instead of 75 mill or more they will go for this summer.

  3. I think with Chamberlain injured, we can still play these formations and be strong in defense while also maintaining our passing and fluid football. Giroud, Ozil and Ramsey or Gibbs should come in from the bench if need be in my opinion.

  4. I read somewhere that Everton would want around £100 million for Lukaku lol ?? even if Arsenal were willing ?? to splash that on him, there’s still one small problem.. Lukaku wants champions league football and preferably with a team that has potential to win it. (Chelsea seems to be his ideal destination)

Blah, blah, blah and waffle, waffle, waffle ?? even I’m getting tired of typing lol?? let’s just wait and see how the next two rounds of premier league results go, before we start dreaming about transfers. ??

    1. 100M for someone who has not scored 30 goals a season in the epl in 8 years is too much.infact if you look at his numbers, he has been scoring an average of 17 goals a season, impressive yes but not bale money or ronaldo money or higuan money numbers. 65-70M is fair….lets not forget he also wants out..if he insists on leaving Everton their bargaining position will be severely undermined. They might end up getting even less than that 65M they are sneering at now.

  5. We’ve been here before so I will just say what he is going to say:

Wenger: He is a good player but we already have someone like him in Giroud……..

    1. Totally agree with you. Kante no LeCoq is better..OG is way much better than Cavani and so on. Typical Wenger then when we failed blaming injuries or not enough strength in depth..Sell OG get 20 , Debuchy 5 millions , Gibbs at least 5 ( never reached the level expected in 10 years ) , Wilshere 10 -15 millions ( we cannot have another Diaby 90k week for years warming benches ), we can seel few deadwood and get at least 50 millions so go for Abumayang and Carvalho / Luiz Gustavo and Ricardo rodriguez from Wolsburg ( 120 million spend ) SHOW SOME AMBITION AT LAST and GIVE THE FANS WHAT WE EXPECT FROM A TEAM LIKE US..Challenging EPL and UCL ( No shouting just making emphasis ) LoL.

  6. He will cost 100m….last year was 75m…next year 150m

Considering he moved to Everton for a bargain of 35m

    1. Wenger was watching Lukaku when he was playing at Anderlecht but double bulked at his £12 million valuation. Chelsea stepped in and slapped around 17 million on the table… And The rest is history.

    1. Mbappe is the one but even his valuation has reached ridiculous heights and it’s bound to get even higher, especially if he keeps banging in the goals in the champions league.

      1. Mbappe turned down a chance to join us last season……

if we had signed him last season he would just be another Ox or Rene Adelaide

  7. Imagine we have Lukaku with Alexis, Ozil and Theo. Lukaku would make them all more effective

If Lukaku misses a match for injury or whatever, then we still have Alexis up front

BUT £65 mil is not going to do it
Try starting with £75 -£80 mil
Or -£65 mil plus Lucas (he wants to leave), debuchy, Sanogo, Jenkinson, Ramsey

    1. If Alexis leaves and we got Lukaku, we would still need another Top forward

To win the PL you need at least 2 top forwards. A top winger and top cf

  8. Lukaku would be perfect. With service from Ozil & partnership with Alexis he would be a sensation. This is a marquee signing that we could really use. Unfortunately our recent transfer history teaches us that he probably won’t come to Arsenal, but if they’re serious about this “Summer overhaul” and the “£200m war chest” then maybe, just maybe. I’d be a very happy Gooner if this came true. Maybe we could put-in a bid for his manager too!

  9. You should all stop dreaming about Lukaku going to Arsenal, it’s just not going to happen.
The sort of money being bandied around isn’t what Arsenal like to pay, you’ve got no players that Everton would want in part exchange so the whole £100m would be asked. Man United haven’t any players Everton want, so that leaves Chelski and how much they value Tammy
Abraham. It’s no secret Everton fancy Abraham and they’re talking £15m, that would leave £85m for Chelski to cough up,enough over for a couple of centre backs.

  10. Blah blah blah! Same story every year. Breaking news! We will still be short next year and we will have the results and we will repeat this again?
