Arsenal to focus on La Liga star after Vlaar snub?

In the last few months there have been many Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with seemingly every central defender that may be available. Some of the big name players like Mats Hummels really get the fans going, while Arsene Wenger watchers think it is more realistic that the Frenchman will sign some unheard of teenager from the French second division.

Somewhere in between these two opposite poles you have good defenders who would be easier and cheaper to sign than the Dortmund star while still being able to significantly add to our paper thin defensive options. One of these that I quite fancied was the Holland international Ron Vlaar after his very impressive World Cup finals.

And with his current contract expiring at the end of this season, it was thought he would be available on the cheap in January. Until his recent comments reported by the Daily Express that is. The 29-year old flatly denied any intention of moving on and suggested that he would be talking to his Villa bosses about a new deal.

So maybe that is why the Gunners have steeped up their interest in the 21-year old Athletic Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte, according to the Evening Standard. The young Frenchman is really making a name for himself in La Liga and it seems that he has attracted the attention of the Arsenal boss. But is he the right player to help the Gunners out this season?

If we loose or even draw to Man U, I want Wenger to go, it will further indicate we are not able to mentally or physically compete home or away with any of the other big teams in the league, we haven’t beaten Man U in about 3 or 4 years, that’s f*cking outrageous if you ask me. I will not settle for anything other than a win. Last year, everyone beat Man U! Spurs beat them, Liverpool beat them, Everton beat them, Chelsea did, and so did City but not us, we bloody lost and drew to them, that is one of the things that hurt me most last season.

hurt more than being on top of the league for the longest last season, only to concede after the injury bug struck once again?! we could’ve won the league regardless of that manure game. and regardless of our other big game losses. crazy. but true. don’t forget the facts. that said, we’re in struggle city at the moment. funking during the easiest stretch of games is no good for morale.

Wenger needs to bring in a solid quality “no nonsense” centre back in january, and not just any panic buy centre back!

Get Virgil Van Dijk from Celtic, guy is fast, strong, tall at 1.93 and can score goals as well!
We missed out on Wanamena from Celtic, he would have helped shore up our defense, let’s not miss Virgil!

We don’t need any new signings. All we need is to hope the physio guy from Germany can fix Diaby and Koscielny in time for the second half of the season. Top teams don’t buy players in January, and if we’re to be a top team, we must behave like one.

    I’m missing bould adams keown

But back to today Laporte I rate, but I reckon too expensive. For the same price we could probably buy schar and van dijk which will give us depth and and quality. It’s rather like carvalho, where for the same price we could buy khedira and bender. I think i would rather we take 4 then sell diaby flamini Coquelin and rosicky. Who are obviously surplus to requirements, then also consider whether podolski cazorla sanogo should be moved in favour of a world class finisher?

But let’s not forget, replace wenger, primovic and banfield with klopp henry and bergkamp.

I know right? Everyone is talking about replacing wenger with Klopp?? Klopp gets a few injuries to his squad and he drops to the bottom of the bundesliga, wenger has a tonne of injuries to deal with and we are in 6th, 3 points behind man city who are in 3rd. I dont get people’s logic sometimes…

I wouldn’t mind any young, quick and tall defender with good ball control will do for me! Vlaar is too old and too old skool, anyone can play his style of play of hooping the ball forward!
