Arsenal to have complete France forward line as Griezmann clause halved?

I have no real idea if it would make any difference to Antoine Griezmann or not, but you would think that Arsenal having two of his fellow France international forwards in our squad already would at least be a factor in his thinking about whether to accept a transfer to the Emirates or not.

One thing I am sure about, though, is the fact that the release clause in his current contract with La Liga club Atletico de Madrid has recently been cut in half from £184 million to £92 million, as reported by the Daily Express, will make it a whole lot more likely that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board will be among the clubs hoping to sign the prolific French forward.

The Spanish club have been under a transfer ban, which is why they were not able to get Diego Costa back from Chelsea despite all parties seeming keen on the deal, but that will be lifted in the new year and if Costa does rejoin his old club then perhaps Griezmann will leave.

If so you would expect Arsenal to at least try to be the club he joins and having Olivier Giroud and Lacazette as teammates may just be the thing that tips the scales in our favour. Imagine that Gooners…

  1. “Yes, we only look to bring in quality players, but we already have many world class players like Welbeck, Walcott, Giroud, and it’s difficult to keep everyone happy. I have a belief we will be active in January. But we only focus on the Bournemouth for now. I saw a lot positives in the game against Liverpool, and I feel we will be physically ready for the game ahead. Yes, Sanchez could start, and he’s very committed to the club. Thank you!”

          1. I don’t think he said it after the Liverpool game, but he has said it before after awful defeats, and performances. Good ol Wenger!

  2. I don’t know the type of article you write here, you give the fans unrealistic expectations……more than 15clubs will sign him ahead of arsenal, and that’s if he wanna come….. please get real

    1. …AFTER the hurt inflicted by the lemar, draxler, rebiot transfer to arsenal fiasco …you perpetuate the nonsense with a comical headline like that. seems like everyone is at it including those meant to be in your corner – it’s mr anonymous’ cheap attempt at winding up disgruntled fans with more bull****.

  3. Get real! No player wants to come to us that has other top choices. Arsene and Arsenal no longer have the pulling power. DO you really think the fans are the only ones who see that the club is in decline?
Top players want to play with top players, they want to be coached by top managers, they want to win Championships and they want to be paid top dollar. Tell me please which one of the above sounds like Arsenal?

  4. Even if Wenger tried to get him he would screw it up

Lemar wanted to come to us. He agreed contract terms but Wenger waited till the last day and put Lemar on the spot.

I knew Wenger would wait until the last day and I knew it would not work out. Actually I’m quite surprised Monaco accepted the bid on the last day.

Even when Wenger tries to go for top players he messes up. We have three stooges in charge Kroenke, Wenger, Gazidas are Moe, Larry and Curly.

    1. Wenger managed to talk Lacazette into joining us along with Sead, doesn’t mess up all the transfers once he gets to talk to the player.

AFC have been poor in the transfer market from Gazidis 1st full season in charge, even though the trend can be linked to Gazidis, you (along with others) like to ignore that and blame the manager 100% for transfers…

Wenger is at fault for not wanting VVD like he wanted Lemar, target selection.
Gazidis is at fault for failing to get them, doing the role which Dein done when he was CEO and also selling BS year after year to make profit of AFC fans who refuse to boycott the club (this isn’t a moan at you but irritates me still).

Not defending Wenger because I think he should stay, Gazidis has been selling our future for short term gains every year and transfers have been the consequence, more Wenger gets blamed for missing targets due to business reasons then the more Gazidis goes under the radar.

      1. Gazidis wanted a director of football, Wenger didn’t; who did Kroenke back? So Kroenke and Wenger are more of a problem!

  5. It would be nice if Arsenal were to sign Griezmann but can you really see it, l mean o.k they’ve only spent £52 million on Lacazette so who know’s come January if Atletico sign Nuthead Costa!!!

  6. Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is as deluded as Wenger he thinks Arsenal have strengthened in this Transfer Window. Look into my eyes my eyes not around me but my eyes only. Maybe he should try this on the Fans it might work. GAZIDIS OUT.

  7. I can’t see us signing griezmann he far too expensive and Wenger wouldn’t buy him, we Be deluding ourselves if we thought he come here. Wenger only gets average players

  8. Griezeman is moving to Man Utd , Agent P aka Paul Pigba has seen to that already just as he got Lukaku to join him this season . Lemar was tapped up by Pogba as well during the international match this weekend. Man Utd have made 1 marquee signing every summer Pogba I 2016 , 2017 – Lukaku and next summer will be Griezeman. However I think Monaco will be greedy pigs by trying to dupe Utd or whoever else is interested in Lemar to part with 200million in order to secure his transfer

    1. I feel he will be movie to chelsea., Chelsea will make a swop deal. With him and Costa they will even add some cash.

  9. Griezmann wanted Lacazette at AM with him, let us use that to bring him to us, could form a nice bromance.

If AFC want to show ambition then they could/should get Lemar and Griezmann in Jan.

Sell Alexis if he isn’t dedicated, along with Ozil. If we do sell them both then IMO we should get 3 marquee signings in Jan, not just 2.

    If VVD is still unhappy….

Won’t happen, Gazidis was saying how well the transfer window went even though he only managed to get 1 of Wengers targets… Talk about low standards.

  10. Griezman to arsenal❓
Is it a paper talk or what cus i don’t really understand.
We talk abt Lemar all the widow and now we already hv a player to talk abt in January❓
I think it’s hard time we stop fooling ourselfs over issues like this,
We r no more attracting players not even sonogo will like to come back to arsenal at this time of crisis.
I think we shud get Lemar first before talking abt griezman.

  11. The amount of contradictory waffle on this site is growing.

You can’t say there is no budget and then make up stories like this suggesting you think there IS a big budget.

Well you can, but you must think we are stupid.

Scratch that, we are for feeding off it all.

  12. If Wenger could add Griezman and Lemar to the squad you would think the Gunners would have something to crow about but, knowing Wenger, he would probably play them out of position or break their souls on the bench. Either way he would wreck their careers. It`s all been done so many times before and his reputation precedes him.
