Arsenal to lose Butland transfer battle with Man City?

The biggest question for Arsenal and us fans to consider once the current season is over and we know whether Arsenal get a top four finish or an FA cup trophy, is whether Arsene Wenger is going to stay or go, but that is likely to be announced pretty quickly.

Then it will be all about the summer transfer window and which players the Frenchman or his successor brings to the club to strengthen the playing squad and make us into Premier League title challengers next season, and with the Arsenal transfer rumours suggesting that David Ospina is set to move on then one of the most important bits of business will be for a new keeper.

I would love that to be the Stoke City and England international star Jack Butland, who is being linked with Arsenal and other EPL clubs according to a Metro report. The Potters have really missed him this season and the 24-year old has been showing exactly why since his recent return from injury, but I do not think he will be coming to Arsenal.

The problem for me is that he will probably feel that a move to Arsenal may see his playing opportuniies more limited than if he went to a side like Manchester City because of our current number one Petr Cech, while Pep Guardiola is clearly looking for a regular starter between the sticks after Cludio Brove endure a pretty poor debut season in England.

Butland has even been reported in the Manchester Evening News saying that he is flattered by the links to City, so is this one transfer battle that Arsenal have already lost?

  1. Joe Hart is only on loan at Torino and if City want Butland then maybe we should go for Joe? Don’t get me wrong, I too would prefer Butland not only because he has the potential to be one of the best keepers in the league, but what an appropriate name he has, what with all the ?? we’ve been knocking out this season.??

  2. Don’t worry yet, Butland was not flattered by being linked with ManCity he was flattered about being linked with 4 of the top six sides as he said he must be doing something right. He will still be at Stoke for the next 12 months so hold on to hope that ManCity Or ManU sort their keepers out before than leaving you and Chelsea and Spurs to choose from.

  3. LoL….yea Butland ….

We Lose out in every fight with any top team concerning transfer….whether they are worldclass or not

    Typical arsenal!

  4. With us needing a top quality striker, likely replacement for Sanchez, probably replacement for ageing and injured Cazorla, and a left-back until Kolasinac is officially announced (So that’s 4 senior outfield players minimum) why do Arsenal need to sign a goal-keeper when we already have Cech, Szczesny, and Martinez for next season?

  5. I’d rather add the cost of a new goalkeeper to the striker budget and get someone decent like Lukaku or Lacazette.

    1. Lukaku ?Chelsea
      Lacazette ? Ath. Madrid

Chelsea are most likely going to sign Morata aswell, the good news is Wenger will be able to snatch the young Abrahams from Chelsea lol?

      1. Yeah, it does seem like Lukaku would prefer Chelsea, and we may not get Lacazette either, but there’s got to be a top-class striker somewhere willing to come? There have been in most other transfer windows, it’s just that Arsenal always try to get them on-the-cheap and (Unsurprisingly) fail each time.
