Arsenal to risk exhausted Alexis at West Brom

In an ideal world Arsene Wenger would be able to say that he was going to give the Arsenal and Chile star Alexis Sanchez a couple of weeks off. Having only played for one season in the English Premier League and having had to be very busy for the last two summers with the World Cup and then the Copa America, it would be ideal to give Alexis his very own winter break.

And with the next four Premier League games for the Gunners being against the two clubs propping up the league table, Aston Villa and Sunderland, and the others struggling not far above the drop zone, you could say that the Frenchman has the ideal opportunity.

But in that ideal world Wenger would be able to bring in a replacement player that would not weaken the team too much and therein lies the problem because we have no one to bring in other than untested youngsters like Alex Iwobi or Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

So I am afraid to say that the boss will nit force Alexis to take a breather and we know that the Chilean will want to play anyway. I do expect the Chilean to sit out of the Champions League game on Tuesday and hopefully Arsenal will have a couple more players back off the injury list next weekend and then Wenger might feel able to rest Alexis.

But do you agree that we simply have to start him tomorrow?

  1. We don’t need him for any game that doesn’t concern the top 4 teams. He should rest while Campbell proves himself

    1. Cech
      Bellerin – Mertesaker – Gabriel – Monreal
      Cazorla – Coquelin
      Campbell – Ozil – Gibbs
      Giroud

Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Chambers, Arteta, Flamini, Iwobi, Adelaide

  2. Bench him! i love his passion but we shouldn’t let him risk himself. i’d like to see Adelaide given the chance, this boy handled Wolfsburg like they were some primary school football team, lets see what he’ll do today, i believe in him. I would’ve said play Carzola on the wings and play Flamini in CM, but i don’t want us to mess with SantiCoq. And i cant say play Gibbs there.
    Or
we play Bellerin on RW and Debuchy RB then Campbell LW so we’ll see if Bellerin can do a Bale..

but even if he doesn’t start the match, I wanna see Adelaide play with the seniors again please

  3. I think it’s funny that the team that provides him with his salary has to consider to not play him because he plays for another team that doesn’t pay his weekly salary.
Not only that this consistent break kills any momentum that a team might desperately need during the season.
Time for another thought regarding playing throughout the year.

  4. I’m afraid it’s only our injury prone players that get a regular rest ?

And in an ideal world a normal person would have the common sense to obtain efficient back up to replace things that keep on breaking down!
Especially when you have 3 or 4 of them.

    If wenger had any sense ?…. ?… ?…. ?… ?
    ( why do I even bother ???)
he would bench Sanchez against WBA
and only bring him on if needed.
    ?????

  5. Listen Alexis baby please

I love you. You are the hardest working player at Arsenal and extremely talented and dedicated
BUT you must look after your body which includes rest sometimes
I know how much you want to play every game but your health is more important
Also to win the PL we need you at 100%
Get some rest and come back at your best

    1. the number u diaLed is currently not available……..please try again Later……. Thank you!………….. Beep….. Beep…… Hang-up!

  6. Alexis has been quite poor in recent games. On this form, even Iwobi wouldn’t do much worse. Sometimes players need to be benched to get the best out of them (ask Giroud).

  7. No choice but to play him n those saying rest him will be the first criticising wenger if we lose. The likes of crocks Wilshere theo ox rozza( il let hom off) are hampering our chances as always.
