Arsenal to use top 3 pressure to perform and prove doubters wrong?

Arsenal fans and Arsene Wenger could be forgiven for thinking that Stoke are determined to cause the Gunners problems this season. It was back in mid January when Arsenal travelled to the Potteries to face Mark Hughes´ side looking to get back to the top of the table after drawing with Liverpool.

As it happened we did but only with a point as Stoke gave us a really tough test and began Giroud´s goal drought with some great defending and goalkeeping. But once again this weekend Stoke were a shadow of that side as they meekly allowed Man City to win and score four goals without reply, just as they did against another of our main rivals Tottenham on Monday.

So cheers for that Stoke, but what it does mean is that the pressure is on if Arsenal are to finish in the top three as Arsene Wenger has insisted in a Sky Sports report that we must. It is not like the boss to increase the pressure on his players like this but I think he is doing it for a reason.

There has been a lot of criticism aimed at the Gunners for their supposed folding under pressure and Wenger clearly wants them to prove the doubters wrong. So maybe the fact that Man City won and that West Ham and Man United are fighting to get into the top four is actually good news for Arsenal, as long as we do respond and win away at Sunderland tomorrow that is.

Do you think this fight for the top three will bring out the best in Arsenal or are the doubters going to be proved right again?

  1. SHREEVES: Have you ever known a
    more downbeat atmosphere at the
    Emirates than against West Brom?

WENGER: Wewant them to be behind the team, tobe proud of the club and the values and consistent achievement of the
    club.

  2. “Prove doubters wrong” smh… he already proved doubters RIGHT. We should have won the PL this season but somehow we failed and ended up below 2nd AGAIN. The Southampton game in January proved to me that we haven’t changed at all, and relying on two WC players is NOT realistic as the manager is trying to suggest.

  3. Prove doubters wrong?
    PROVE DOUBTERS WRONG?
Wenger has proven doubters right for 12 years now.
