Arsenal transfer latest – Banega, Torreira, Kovacic and Benatia

So, another day and another swathe of Arsenal transfer rumours comes to the fore. it would appear that Unai Emery is set to make his own stamp on the team by bringing in great changes to the Gunners squad and the arrival of Stephan Lichststeiner and Bernd Leno was only the beginning.

Lucas Torreira is expected to be his next most important signing and although the Uruguayan refused to confirm or deny the rumours he has added fuel to the fire by ‘liking’ an instagram pic with a friend who had added #Arsenal to the end of the caption. It may be silly to read too much into it, but at least it didn’t say Napoli!

The newest Arsenal rumour is about the Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega, and the Mirror reports: Arsenal have reportedly held positive talks with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega.

The Argentina international is currently in Russia at the World Cup where his side are fighting to stay in the competition.

But his agent Marcelo Simonian is believed to have flown to London to hold talks with Arsenal chiefs, according to reports in Italy.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery is keen to be reunited with Banega having coached him at Sevilla.

There is yet to be any proof about that one either, but we may well be in need of another midfielder. And do we still need another defender? According to football Italia the Gunners are also keen on Lichststeiner’s old team-mate from Juventus Medhi Benatia, who “is unsure of his Juventus future, as Arsenal join Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Marseille in chasing the defender.

The Morocco international is currently at the World Cup in Russia and confessed to reporters he was “waiting for a call” from Turin.

If he were to leave this summer, he’d likely go abroad with proposals from England, Germany and France.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are also now in the running for Benatia’s services.”

Again there is very little proof of that one either. but one midfielder that could be a real possibility is Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, who at least has admitted that he wants to leave the Bernabeau. “I would like to play more in Madrid because I love football and being in the field, but I know that it’s hard for Real,” he admitted. “I understand the situation, but the best thing for me is to go to a club where I can play regularly. If I do not play, I’m not happy.”

Would he get to play regularly at Arsenal? I would like to think so, but going by the value we have looked for so far in most of our targets, I’m not sure that Arsenal would pay the money that Real Madrid would demand.

So who would you like out of those four?

  1. Nothing at all.
I assure you that Kovacic is a done deal albeit a loan not a permanent transfer.

    1. Bro your confidence level is %1000000 and I do hope you know you get yourself into these positions? If it fails and the rest of the guys starts picking on you, I hope you understand why they do?

  2. It’s a very exciting window unfortunately marred by the World Cup Circus. Let’s be honest though – if the Barcelona tea lady decides to change jobs she will be linked to Arsenal. I’d like to see some of the dead wood linked with moves away.

  3. Steps in the right direction..signings are welcome
But take note… No fast wingers = stale team
Ozil was dropped last night and folks started shifting blames- I don’t like ozil’s body language either, but note that body language didn’t start this year and in fact Germany won the World Cup last term with that same play making body language. The difference is efficient pacy wingers.
Arsenal was stale last term… No one Arsenal player can beat a man one on one on the wings.
Germany against Mexico pass pass pass… No entry. Yesterday Germany couldn’t penetrate till Werner was moved to the wings allowing draxler and Muller interchange more freely.
My point I won’t be excited any further till arsenal sign at least one winger

    1. Good point but Draxler was taken off. Gomez came on and Reus and Werner were their wingers.

Ozil is awful let’s face it. The guy is very very talented but isn’t cutting it at club or country at the mo. Honestly look back at his time at Arsenal has he actually been outstanding. His first season was the best purely because us signing him lifted our team massively in terms of confidence and we ended our trophy draught

      1. Most jerman nt is underperformance, Mueller is the worst one,
He cant dribble, cant pass, cant cross, cant run, cant make a goal and somehow he playing full in both match.
I want to see, what line up germany will be, whe facing korean republic who have speed and stamina like mexico

    2. I’d have to agree, Bernard, Martin’s are free, Shaqiri is almost free, there are definitely players out.their

  4. JUST IN:
We are holding talks with Gelson Martins agent. He has agreed to sign for Arsenal. Only stumbling block would be Sporting’s appeal against Martins “Just Clause” contract cancellation. So the ball now lies in the portugese courts, if they(Courts) agree to Martins termination of contract then he is Arsenal player for sure.

  5. kev I hope u are right with your transfer info now. I’m a bit sceptical about the kovacic transfer u claim. I think as u claim then loan will be appropriate for all involved. still some dross must leave.

    1. The dross has left Mertesacker Wilshire Cazorla, played about 50 matches between them in 2 years. Plus more is set to go, ospina, Campbell, Perez, Jenkinson will all go

  6. I want a starting lineup like this to challenge for all trophies
    LENO
    BELLERIN SOKRATIS SOYUNCU KOLASINAC
    TORRIERA KOVACIC
    D. COSTA RAMSEY MIKHITARYAN
    AUBAMEYANG

    1. BELLERIN? I just don’t understand why any Gooner rates him. I think him a complete dud as a defender. He can’t tackle, head in a challenge, stay in his correct position, cross the ball accurately, when attacking and is easily muscled off the ball. All the reqirements in a proper defender he can’t do. Yes , he is fast. But that’s about all. I just don’t see why anyone rates him cos I do NOT.

  7. While this is all exciting news, do you guys feel worried that Unai might be making way too many changes to enable him create a stable and successful team within such a short period of time? When are these players going to gel? I don’t mean to complain but this is beginning to feel like last season’s Everton. They were riding high during the summer, buying players left, right and center. Well, look how it turned out for them. I hope he intends to ease in all these players slowly and never bringing in more than three or four players at a time into the team. You cannot build a new team and get them up to speed within like one month of pre season especially in a world cup year. I hope I am wrong.
