Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Danilo, N’Zonzi, Liverpool battle?

The winter window is into it’s final week, and Granit Xhaka’s recent actions may well have forced the Arsenal boss to reconsider his current options.

The Swiss international midfielder got himself sent off for the second time this term, raising a huge question-mark over his temperament, and we may well need to shore up our midfield as we look to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title.

One possible player who could come in and shore up our soft centre is Steven N’Zonzi. You will remember his name from his time with Stoke City or Blackburn Rovers previously, but he has certainly raised his game another level since making the switch to Spain. Seville are claimed to have lined up his replacement should we follow through with our interest and lodge a bid, I for one would be much more content watching our side with him protecting our defence.

Another option could be Porto speedster Danilo Pereira. The midfielder is currently being spread around social media for his amazing turn of foot, as shown below.

The defensive midfielder is clearly not limited to solely defending the back four, and could have a huge impact on the way we translate defence into attack also. He is claimed to have a £34.5 Million release clause, and could be a hugely exciting addition.

One players who we have been linked with for a while is now supposedly being eyed by Liverpool. We have been looking at replacing Kieran Gibbs or Nacho Monreal in recent years, and now the Merseyside club are also desperate to bring in a new left-back.

The Reds are strongly linked with a move for Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, who has been rising to prominence in the Championship over the past couple of years. The 16 year-old is already starring in Fulham’s first-team, but may not be quite ready for a starring role for a top club however.

We recently brought Cohen Bramall to the club however, and may well be happy to let our interest in Ryan end there.

Do we need another central midfielder? Would allowing Sessegnon join Liverpool without battle be a mistake?

  1. Really??? you think there’s even a fraction of a chance we’ll buy in someone new this January??? we can barely get the right players in the summer. Wenger will do exactly what he has always done and he will push on with Xhaka.
Lokk at his attitude towards Walcott who has really ONLY JUST come good after a decade with the club. Xhaks was a big name signing and Wenger wont back down on that, no matter what this is one of the reasons why the press get on his case because Arsene knows best apparently….though the results in the last ten years may prove otherwise.
Yo really think Wenger will buy a new midfielder in January????
    cos I don’t, not now , not ever …….

  2. We were link to Danilo even before he went to Porto, he is a good physical specimen, with a great turn of foot, very good defensively and not shabby playing the ball out, i had hope we would have carried him in a few seasons ago, we may be short at the moment in the DM role but i do not see wenger adding anyone anytime soon, XHAKA and Elneny are the reasons.

That would be a big surprise one i would like, but highly unlikely

  3. N`zonzi is a top player, Premier League tested who is much better that Xhaka . Wenger should have bought N`zonzi when he was at Stoke.
