Arsenal transfer rumours McCarthy and Wanyama

Arsenal are planning bids for two midfielders, if the rumours are true. Victor Wanyama from Celtic has been watched by scouts from the Gunners, and was linked with a possible transfer in the summer. Celtic are keen to hold on to the talented and powerful young player, especially as they are through to the next round of the champions league against Juventus. The Scottish champions value Wanyama at well over £10 million.

Neil Lennon may have to prepare for a bid from Arsenal, though, after rumours began circulating that Arsenal were ready to make a move. Wanyama has previously spoken about a move to the Premier league and the Gunners need just that sort of player to add strength to the skill at the Emirates. It is just a rumour, and we are constantly linked with players.

The Mirror reports that James McCarthy from Wigan Athletic is the midfielder that Arsenal are ready to bid for. The 22-year old Ireland international is also wanted by Liverpool and Everton, apparently, but Wenger hopes to get him for £8 million. The Scottish born player recently signed a long term contract at Wigan, however, so Wigan would be under no pressure to sell.

one thing is for sure, wenger will never buy a youngster like isco for 15 million and he will never buy of any calibre for more than 20 million. so people dont get high hopes.. u know u will disappoint urself atlast.
i thought wenger will go for holtby or isco as a attacking midfielder but they are already booked by other teams.
i will just wait which exceptional player he will bring in (although i already know he won’t bring in any decent player).

McCarthy from Wigan Athletic will be a great signing for arsenal with bag and bag of EPL experience, 10-12M for him is money well spend,

In reply to Tron – Wanyama a player who looks decent in the worst Scottish League. I take it you didn’t watch any champions league games – he was immense against Barcelona over both legs & made Xavi & Ineista look average. I think you need to investigate further before posting opinions.

In reply to ball boy ….. Great then pal , lets buy players based on three performances !

I want arsenal buying players who have performed at the highest level consistently over a period of years , I’ve had enough of hopefuls and substandard transfer targets , we have enough of them , now is the time for proven quality , if u think the names mentioned above are going to help us launch an attack for the league your wrong IMO , if i were to dedicate much time to scouting players I wud use my time more productively than watching Celtic matches that’s for sure !!!

I ain’t even saying he won’t turn out to b s good player , but I don’t want us spending what little money we have on somebody who plays in three decent games a year just because he had a belter against barca , if we don’t get this transfer window right u can kiss goodbye to champs league nx year …… This kid is a gamble I don’t want to take at this moment in time , get mvila in and giv that defence the support it needs , too often we get exposed becuz arteta and Wilsheres first thought is to go forward , stick someone in there who will just sit and let our other midfielders do what they want , how often foes busquettes leave his position ? Never ! He allows the rest to play and we need the same , that and somebody who guarantees 25 goals a year !!!!

Who needs to investigate with knowledge like mine ay ???

Wanyama would be a great signing for Arsenal as long as he brings the desire with him that he displayed for Celtic in champions league and pass it on to a few of our guys.

We need a second keeper, another centre back, another left back, two central midfielders box to box & d/m, a striker and two wingers. 8 players and by the time we get half of that done we will need another right back.

Wanyama or/McCarthy sound good as were struggling to beat teams and players like these.

Teams and players with desire something we lack.

We scraped a win with a dodgy penalty against WBA
We scraped a win against Wigan penned back waiting for the final whistle also a penalty.
We finally seen of Newcastle in the last ten minutes after our rest on boxing day gave us the edge. Had we been playing West Ham I think we would of been lucky to get a draw against Newcastle.
Oh we seen of Reading but not before we conceded two goals against them.

I dont feel safe now even at a 4-0 lead unless there is about ten minutes left and even then id like to get it to 5

Unless we do something defensively we will do nothing again

wanyama is too similar to frimpong so doesnt make sence sissoko a french international age 23 who plays box-2-box/dm is free in the summer if he doesnt sign a new contract he has a market value of 8mill so we could steel him at 4-6m

wanyama is a good bit better than frampong and going by arsenal ways frampong is likley done at arsenal hes had a few chances in the 1st team and again out on loan looks like a familiar pattern to me i do like him but there is a reason when we need a holding mid hes been sent out on loan dont you think?

as for taking a chance on wanyama dude are u serious people laughed when he took alex song and look what happend there and also arsenal are not the only prem teams looking at him and for good reason he would be a good fit for arsenal no doupt he has the steel alot arsenal players seem to have and him and hooper have carried celtic this year and as for a 3rd rate team in crap scottish devision they showd barca a thing or 2 did they not and i hate celtic with a passion how many teams can say they took barca down???? i do ask you.

if it were me i would buy mvila and wanyama and play them both and rotate the 3 in front for max production but as u can arsenal are bidding on NO ONE b ut being linked to all as usual LB and CDM are 2 positions we need to fill as of last season and if they are not filled 4th is a memory as the spuds are playing far better at the moment and buying good players we are being left behing but spuds what more can i say…

Wanyama is more probably. McCarthy is a good young player but he falls in the Wilshere, Ramsey category. Not a true DM or AM but a box to box guy. No matter ur thots on Diaby, AW likes him and with Abou and Rosicky back in the mix, we won’t sign someone like McCarthy. Besides 8 mill for him is a joke.

Wanyama has been excellent especially so this year. He’s very similar to Gilberto. Maybe stronger in the tackle but less composed with the passing. But that he can learn with us. He would be a great signing even more so than someone like M’Vila or Capoue.
