Arsenal v Bayern Munich – Official Line-up and Preview

In case some of us didn’t know it already, the massive build up and interest in this game is telling us this is the biggest game of the season so far. Bayern Munich are definitely the form team in Europe this season, but if you take the whole year of 2015, then Arsenal come out on top and have claims on the most consistent team overall.

Arsene Wenger was keen to point out the areas where we have the better record than our German opponents. “We fight the whole season to be in the Champions League so [our aim is] not to go out. We want to be in every competition,” he said on Arsenal.com.

“In 2015 we are the team that has taken more points than everybody else, and we are still accused of being inconsistent. But in Europe it’s true we have been poor in our first two games -that is what we want to correct.

“We played well [against Manchester United]. But people didn’t give us credit to win 5-2 at Leicester where we had an outstanding performance.

“Physically, that was the highest performance of the season and I think we had not completely recovered against Olympiacos.

“But I think since the start of the season we are slowly moving up.

“If you look at our record in the Champions League, over 160 games nobody has a better percentage of winning than us. We want to win [the competition] but the obsession at the moment is to stay in it, not to win it.”

If we want to prove to everyone that those first two Group Games were nothing but a blip, an anomaly, a case of overconfidence – then there is no better way to do it than by beating Bayern Munich to set ourselves up for the knockout rounds. But first of all, let’s look at the Official Confirmed Team that Arsene Wenger is trusting to get the points:

Cech
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin, Cazorla
Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis
Walcott

Subs: Macey, Gibbs, Chambers, Debuchy, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud

As is the norm nowadays, Walcott is preferred to start the match, and Cech comes in for the injured Ospina as we all knew.

  1. A good team, our best team. But only worry is Ramsey trying to make headlines… He’s trying too much. If he can play with the rest of the team, we stand a chance. GOYG, COYG!!!!!

  2. Calm down guys, Gabriel is probably not match fit. He is not even on the bench…

Ramsey does well in my books in big games so let’s not complain, rather let’s support the team from wherever we are watching. Arsenal!!!

  3. lol…just can’t stop chuckling….. arsenal against this Bayern with so much steel in Costa and Vidal.well gooners do your thing and stun the football world……chuckles

    1. From the look of things, we can, if only we can remain calm and take our chances.

Boy, what a miss by Theo. Neur is good.

  4. Our strongest line up vs the in form team in Europe.

Lets send them packing tails between their legs

  5. COYG give it your all.

Beyern will try and dominate the game, lets be solid, defend together and i am sure we can beat them how we beat city.

  6. So far we are playing like we are away from home and dont need a win. Lets hope its a tactic and not the difference in strength of the teams.

    1. Bayern is on a different planet, sad that Arsenal is reduced to a counter attacking team that concedes so much possession.

Are we playing 4 a point?

      Sack up and attack

  7. For all their possession we have had better chances and should be leading, but alas it not to be.

  8. Listen Baby Please

It’s 35 mins and we are not losing let alone losing 5-0. Maybe we can win this match

    Come on Arsenal baby Please

    1. Jesus some people will never learn … No wonder wenger has been able to hang on despite a barren decade … Even the bible thought 7 years was enough!!!! Giroud is more deadly around the box so give him a chance Walcott has given his best and it’s just not up to scratch

    1. He just needs to relax he doesn’t realize that page gives him another half second to make a decision or pick up his head. He seems a little hurried but that will get better with more game time

  9. Wow … How that stayed zero zero I have no idea … But that was a lesson in how to play passing and pressing football … May as well bring on ox and giroud for Walcott and Ramsey as this is a must win game and wi only do it on counter or from a dead ball

  10. We can’t fluff chances like Theo did with his header. It might come back to haunt us.

Anyways, good first half. All I pray is our players can keep up.

Douglas Costa looks like Hazard 2.0, all dribbles no end product.

      1. You mean as by contrast with our right winger …!cant make some fans up … Would take the guy at the drop of a hat

  11. We are looking extremely dangerous on the counter..Theo has been looking gud..needs to finish chances in the second half..i doubt there will be many..offcourse if we score first we might open the floodgates..

  12. well I’m proud of the team so far except for Walcott not holding on to the ball enuf to create his own chances and score.ozil needs to close down his opponents in our half.so far so good.I think we can win this game

  13. We can really win this, we had better chances.
This game is made for Theo, hope he gets some goals, I think he has bern playing really well lately just lacking end product. But I guess thats always our story

  14. Listen Baby Please

Theo and Giroud are not WC like Lewandowski, Muller, Costa, Aguero. We can’t expect them to tear through Bayern’s defense.

They will be more effective against Everton

Again blame Wenger for not getting a Top striker or any outfielder this summer

I’m scared Lewandowski, Muller, Vidal are going to show us how good they are in the second half

Are only hope is Alexis baby please and Ozil baby Please.

    1. @rkw you’re clearly just an anti Arsenal troll. You moan throughout the match, rubbish players, claim tactics are crap and revel in everything Bayern do….and you can’t bring yourself to celebrate our fantastic victory. Go away m8, you have proven you know nothing about players, or tactics and you have zero affection for the team.

  15. You can tell we are a possession side, we have no idea ho to press as a team. Doesn’t help having a slow cb that needs protecting.

  16. Listen Baby Please
On the bright side Zagreb and Olympiakos are tied, so that will help us on the road to qualification

But we still probably need a WIN against Bayern

    1. Lol you’ve been mocking the team for the entire game. Example of how to beat a team who press and pass lol!!

  17. Listen Baby Please

    Who is a donkey NOW!!!

And people who say Giroud can’t play well against big teams, remember this match

  18. Head to hand and in some luck for us sweet! Arsenal fans now singing! Want ox to score now. Mertesacker is tired and looking out of position frequently I’d like to see gabriel inject some energy and workrate now.
