Arsenal v C. Palace – Confirmed line-ups – Giroud on the bench!

So the season begins for Arsenal at last! There have already been some interesting results, not least Man Utd losing at home to Swansea, and Everton only drawing with Leicester, so nobody can expect any easy games in the opening games.

Here is the confirmed starting teams:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Sanogo

Substitutes: Martinez, Monreal, Coquelin, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Campbell, Giroud

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Dann, Hangeland, Ward, Puncheon, Jedinak, Ledley, Bolasie, Chamakh, Campbell

Substitutes: Hennessey, Delaney, McCarthy, O’Keefe, Bannan, Gayle, Murray

Let’s all hope that Wenger has made the right decision in starting Sanogo ahead of Giroud. We all have seen he is capable of scoring goals, but just the one game doesn’t inspire me with confidence.

But with Cazorla, Ramsey and Alexis supporting the youngster up front I’m sure he can impress us today. Otherwise there are no big surprises, and it was practically this team that beat Manchester City, so surely a managerless Palace shouldn’t cause us any problems?

Guys I LOVE ARSENAL but I have to be honest that based on this performance we will stuggle to win the league if things do not change:
      1) WE HAVE NO PENETRATION!!!!!!Giroud or Sanogo as strikers will never deliver us the premier league title. I propose we make Sanchez Walcott strikers to accommodate Joel Campbell on left wing, Ozil on the right and Ramsey as 10 behind the striker
2)This 4-3-3 is beginning to frustrate me. Can we not play 4-2-1-3 or mix it up a bit more. Two defensive midfielders and permanent 10 behind striker
3)We need a cdm to drive this team forward so we can play through the middle since we thrive on possession. This sideways passing to go through the wings slows us down

I’m not slating the team so early on but it’s clearly to see why we won’t win the league on this performance.. Arteta, Sanogo and Wengers stubborness to not see the glaring deficiency of a CDM

  3. RSH

tempo of our passing is slow. Rosicky maybe to inject some energy, everybody looking tired and simple passes are being misplaced. C’mon boys, 3 points on the line

  4. Archangel

who will be 3rd change, campbell, ox or rosicky? Id actually love to see all three on the pitch ATM

  5. Budd

Ox should come in but not for Cazorla, Alexis must go off. The Sanogo must make room for Giroud. To the idiots bashing Arteta : he is the one of our best today together with (who’d had thought) Wilshere. Just to show that just arsenal dot com lurkers are half retarded.

  6. phil-thompsons-nose

Wilshere picking up from where he left off last season.. Dwelling on the ball too long and either getting injured or losing possession!

Sanchez is a bag of tricks that when fully fit with ozil.. Will be awesome..

But with a top striker thrown in..

  7. juhislihis

I swear Cazorla is turning into a Gervinho type. A hot/cold player. On his day he’s the best on the field but the next he’s not even good enough for C. Palace. Tons of losing possession, horrible corners, stupid yellow and quite frankly I must say he’s not doing ANYTHING for us at the moment.

And yet he’s the one who’s still on the pitch.

      1. juhislihis

Oh my God he’s useless.. I mean Ramsey is invisible yes, Sanchez making misplaced passes but Santi stands out for his incompetence..

  8. Archangel

thats what i call blind faith…ramsey was invisible, jack tried, yed he get dumped… wish campbell/rosicky also got a chance to perform…cant it all

  9. reddb10

whenever Ramsey is not having a good game the whole team just go into meltdown.
Apparently we did not need fabregas because we have loads of midfielders. What Arteta, flamini and wilshere?

  10. Leader

Wenger should analyse this game and do the pending transfers immediately so that we don’t miss the good players……………

  11. Justsoccerfan

After our CS performance, i got high hope for this game but it turn out so sh*t. If can i sub all the front five players.

  12. Champagne Charlie

I see the Messiah Joel Campbell hasn’t featured.. Must be really highly valued by Wenger.

    1. Charlie Nick

Brilliant comment as usual…it’s hardly the fault of the holding midfielder if our attacking players can’t pass

  13. Justsoccerfan

My feeling campbell wont be playing much this season cos wenger favour players in packing order, he place quite far

    1. Champagne Charlie

Same story as last season one game in. Solid at the back (lapses of concentration happen to all), but so toothless. Palace at home and Speroni has the best seat.

  14. Brada b

Come on supporters its only the 1st game relax remember wht happen last season in our 1st game!! COYG suppprt the boyz & dont b so negative

  15. mrabeeh

Seriously Chamakh.. do something about your hair.. Now that you are not a gunner, it looks disgusting!!

    1. luvdaguns

no kidding, tough to look at, you’re not ronaldo, you will never be ronaldo, get a freaking haircut

  16. CraigZWE

Ramsey poor game but gets the winner, just like fa cup.

That’s what makes a WC player, can change matches even when playing bad

  17. luvdaguns

well, match one was easy, (LOL) bring on the toffee’s, bring back the krauts, we need em,

  18. Charlie Nick

Oh well, things can only get better.
Need another CF, if Giroud gets bad injury, we’re stuffed

  19. Ozil_Sanchez

A great player will kick a winning goal even when he is having an off game.

    Ramsey = Arsenal

  20. haywill

  21. Goontz

When CP made their last sub and that guy walked off the pitch, pretending to jog, I was thinking “you’re gonna regret this b*tch if we score in injury time”. Hahahaha! Also f*ck you Chamakh, you fouling cheat.

  22. RSH

Ramsey still remains our most important player. Another sign of a class player is to drag your team to victory in whatever way you can, even if you have a bad match. Well done… first time in YEARS we win our opening match. Arsenal never makes things simple, but its sort of why we love em πŸ˜€

  23. Ozil_Sanchez

People who insulted Ramsey need to apologize

He is a special young man and I’m so glad he plays for Arsenal

Now, Mr Wenger get some top signings in.
    It’s not too late.

  24. Champagne Charlie

Everyone still dead-set on that backup CB?? Reus or Cavani clearly far more necessary based on that game.

    1. mrabeeh

I would still say back up CB. We werent pushed back at all so our defense wasnt tested. But Crystal palace is a very defensive side. So our attackers should not be judged too soon

  25. mrabeeh

Now those of you who still think Alexis should play ST, he has still to set into EPL. IT will take a while. I would say 3 months at the least.. So please o please be patient with him…

Also, I think Giroud changed the game.. He challenged their defense more and Sanogo was not upto the mark..

    1. Justsoccerfan

Are you serious, the whole 30mins he play, he don’t know fall down how many time. He got only one time show some treat on goalie, the move pass by sanchz

  26. Enygma

One minute Sanogo is on everyone’s line up,the next minute he should be sent on loan!
Arsenal’s problem is not the strikers. The attacking midfielders are just not creating chances. But bse many of u dont know football,u keep blaming Sanogo and Giroud. We shall still struggle with Cavani if the midfielders still cant break the defence.
