Arsenal v C. Palace – Confirmed line-ups – Giroud on the bench!

So the season begins for Arsenal at last! There have already been some interesting results, not least Man Utd losing at home to Swansea, and Everton only drawing with Leicester, so nobody can expect any easy games in the opening games.

Here is the confirmed starting teams:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Sanogo

Substitutes: Martinez, Monreal, Coquelin, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Campbell, Giroud

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Dann, Hangeland, Ward, Puncheon, Jedinak, Ledley, Bolasie, Chamakh, Campbell

Substitutes: Hennessey, Delaney, McCarthy, O’Keefe, Bannan, Gayle, Murray

Let’s all hope that Wenger has made the right decision in starting Sanogo ahead of Giroud. We all have seen he is capable of scoring goals, but just the one game doesn’t inspire me with confidence.

But with Cazorla, Ramsey and Alexis supporting the youngster up front I’m sure he can impress us today. Otherwise there are no big surprises, and it was practically this team that beat Manchester City, so surely a managerless Palace shouldn’t cause us any problems?

  1. Noooooooo! Not Sanogo. Wenger is messing up my Fantasy team hahahahaha.
    Lets GOOOO GUNNERS!

    1. You gotta love Koscielny! NEVER makes a mistake in important defensive situations and Always scores important goals!
Next half I would like to see eiter OX or campbell coming in for cazorla, Coquelin for Arteta (I want to see how good he is BUT only if we are winning) and Rosicky for either of Wilshere, Ramsey or Sanogo (if Sanogo let Sanchez play as striker and rosicky on the left wing and Ox or Campbell in right wing) COYG!

      1. By the way could Santi learn something from Sanchez. Sanchez- takes his first set piecein the game=assist.

  2. Looks good…hope we croud them in the middle and control it from the of! Hope for few beautiful cazorla-sanchez- sanogo-ramsey counters

  3. Great starting line up. We have better movement with Sanogo playing as striker and Giroud does better coming on as a sub. So it is a win win either way.

  4. let the championship season begin, yaya… this is your chance for glory, make it count… no germans, theo… but still such a strong line up, gonna be a good year!

  5. I’m coming out of my cage and I been doing just fine, because the premier league is here!!

  6. Sanogo to break ,no I mean ANNIHILATE that scoring duck.Right now,I’m literally shouting COYG!

  7. That is all but tells u Giroud will not be our main striker this year, Arsene wl either buy a new striker or wl wait for Walcolt. Prove me wrong!!

  8. Is it wrong that I totally forgot who Chamakh was until I saw him parading onto the field? Wilshire looking good today

  9. Palace looks firm..but we still have 70mins and a bench to kill-campbell, rosicky, ox…Not to mention giroud…

But I am impressed how palace manage to stop us without fouls..

  10. It looks like smoking has done more harm dan good to wilshere, cazorla looks dangerous, sanogo shud fight for the ball more and sanchez shud cool down hes trying too much to impress

  11. Palace doing the only thing they know.

We have no width down the left & we’ve got to find someone who can take corners!

  12. like i an many said- pre season is not the premier league.
    smh from a corner-

we will win- but palace will make it tough-

    COYG~!!

  13. And that’s how to beat the best teams, 5 across the MF then score on a set piece.
This is why we need more physicality in our side.
Sanchez needs to get up the flanks and we need more on the left side.

  14. I hope there’s a good reason why there’s no defender guarding the back post in a corner. Thought it’s in the ABC of football.

Arsenal coaching staff and Cazorla especially should take notes how to take corners!

  15. in wenger we trust..to do what? not just that the motivation is missing but the same weaknesses fans have been talking about for three years are still plain to see…we might even eke a win today but so f****** what he doesnt have a top team that can win shit still

        1. We needed that desperately. I think we’ll look like a new team now. Did you see Sanchez actually calling for the ball after the goal, I think it’ll give every1 the confidence they need

    1. Yup no1 has really been making those runs but look how deep palace back line is so it’s difficult. Id take out Wilshere soon and put caz through the middle and throw Campbell on

  16. PALACE 1 ARSENAL 0. How is it that we have two wingers on the bench and wenger continues to play carzola as a winger. No chamberlain and no campbel. We need width and pace.

  17. A bit o patience. We will score eventually. Pi$$es me of Koscielny not watching. And now Chambers got a yellow too.

  18. wengers going on thats what…half thye fans on this site need their heads examined as well…f****** nogo … thank god we have some decent strikers like loscielny

  19. I can’t remember a game where Wilshere was better than Ramsey. Ramsey is very bad this afternoon. Kos heard I was mad at him and slapped me right in the face !!! 🙂

  20. Lets be under no elusions there will be no easy games this season.
The fact that we have just won the FA cup and community shield and signed Sanchez will just mean teams will respect us more this year and we’ll come up against quite a few busses parked and busy midfields. Set pieces, shots from distance and pacey wing play will be essential to win the tough games.

  21. Some people are so fickle, already calling for Wenger’s head. Anyways we scored at the best moment, right before half time. I was gonna say it’ll make their manager’s speech harder at the half time, but then I remembered they don’t have a manager.

  22. be patient people, see its 1-1 now. But yeah, bad 1st half overall. Why are we not using our width at all, I have no idea. Alexis doesnt look ready yet anyways, but its really the same problem, nobody in the box, and were just playing around it. We need somebody to make a run. Wouldnt mind Cazorla off, Ox on.

  23. When Sanchez was playing with messi fabregas xavi etc he kinda knew what they were going to do..
I don’t think Sanogo knows what HE’S going to do..!
Sanogo is definitely not as good as giroud..
And giroud is shite.. But will probably get the winner..

  24. We can`t win the league with Sa no goal as striker. The boy is very inexperience. Watching the game, i noticed we lacked penetration and pace. I am not sure if Wenger sees that. A lot of bad passes as well . I hope 2nd time will be much better. COYG

  25. Win or lose there is one thing i noticed in that boren wood friendly and i said it than i do not like what schzney is trying to do he is trying to be a neaur schzney needs to stick to what he is good at and not try be like neaur, it was his rash kick which resulted on a corner few moves later if he carrys on like this i can see ospina takong his spot. I belive we will win but dont like his new schzney style

  26. Sanogo isn’t moving in the box. When the ball is played in he just stands still, he doesn’t even jump for headers. The defenders just walk around him to clear the ball. Little strength as well, Giroud looks more suited to this type of game. I also think Ox should come on for Cazorla. Cazorla isn’t a LW, at the moment we’re only attacking down the right and have had pretty much no attack down the left, Chamberlain would offer that to spread Palace a little wider. We need more pace and movement, get palace running and tired out.

I’m not attacking Sanogo, just doesn’t look like he’s at the races today.

  27. I guess, you should cut sanogo some slack, his performance shouldn’t be weighed on a goal-scale, I think palace are in for a trouncing in the second 45

    1. this guy is not yet an epl level player its so f****** obvious to anyone other than wenger and a bunch of delusionals on this web site…farm him out to brentford see how he does maybe he will end up better than bendtner am not yet convinced but happy to be proved wrong…but we need more serious attack options up front for sure this season to be serious contenders…thats a certainty

  28. Sanchez and Kos were the reasons we conceded. They were also the reasons we scored.

No home team has won today. Will we be the first and only?

  29. we’re not playing great, but lets NOT call for someones head right now.
Alexis is being aggressive enough with his dribbles, looks like he’s not used to teams like Palace parking the bus.

Ramsey is not in his best, but nowhere near horrible. He’s more unlucky with the ref decisions all against him.

wilshere is finally not doing those reckless dribbles, which is great, but we do need more penetration, and it’s time for Campbell.

    1. agree. Midfield isnt bad today, just SLOW. And Cazorla just keeps getting crowded out. Someone needs to support him more, because he has no options in great positions, but just loses it. Maybe a Rosicky sub would put some much needed energy in midfield.

  30. Basically not what expected from our gunner even CP is here to park the bus. After two trophy, i shd see fire in their eyes instead i saw headless chicken all over the place.

  31. We need to bring on Campbell or Ox. We need pace. Ramsey needs to do more in the second half and don’t even get me started on Arteta. The whole team has been under performing, probably because they thought we would breeze past Palace like most of us did. Add some pace to play around their big and slow players and we will win.

  32. chambers Gibbs and Wilshire in my opinion are the only ones playing well, rest is average or poor.

And we have no game changers on bench

  33. The problem isn’t in attack it’s the defence and the glass player who is Gibbs – monreal isn’t top premier league ..
I keep saying it – but although our lucky lucky man Sanogo isn’t the real deal Wenger is blind to these nearly men.. Chamakh, park, bendtner..
Wenger buy a top striker and 2 defenders in this window..!

  34. clearly the strategy is to harass carzola, everytime he is on the ball, two players converge on him,

  35. And Sanogo looking like BAMBI ON ICE… He just seems to be falling over everytime the ball gets to him..
