Arsenal v Everton Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Other than Arsenal having won their last four games without conceding a goal, they are a frightening team to face on any normal day, but Everton have got to not just overcome the Gunners, they also have to overcome a 20 year inferiority complex when it comes to away games against Arsenal.

The Everton manager Roberto Martinez is aware that his team have never won at the Emirates, with their last victory away at Arsenal coming at the old Highbury ground way back in January 1996.

Martinez was asked why the Gunners have such a psychological advantage over his team. “I don’t know. I’ve been thinking the same and it’s difficult to give a straight answer,” He replied.

“Obviously, two years ago we were very good there and deserved to win the game but ended up drawing 1-1, and you’re thinking about something a bit further than just the game itself in terms of the psychological edge you might need to go to places like Old Trafford and the Emirates and believe that you can win.

“On Saturday we have to react to our performance last weekend [a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United].

“We cannot just afford to be facing Arsenal and that could narrow things down in terms of not carrying that baggage of not being able to win there for a long time.”

And to make it harder, Arsenal are in fantastic form, and the Toffees boss knows the challenge his team faces. “We are facing an Arsenal team that I watched against Bayern and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they won,” Martinez said.

“They were very worthy of the win. They are a very complete team at the moment and I think this will be as big a challenge as we will face all season.”

Arsene Wenger has got the famous Arsenal team spirit in fine fettle, and I believe that it will be good for him to rest some tired legs and introduce some fresh legs on the pitch, this is my line-up prediction…

Cech
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal
Coquelin, Cazorla
Walcott, Ozil, The Ox
Giroud

I have already outlined my reasons for this team in a previous post, which you can read here, so I will move straight on to my Score Prediction.

3-0 to the Gunners! And top of the League tonight…..

  1. Using Walcott and Giroud will be a serious risk. I will suggest we start with Walcott and brings in Giroud later in the game. More over that Giroud is becoming a super-sub now. I will also suggest we give Campbell some minutes towards the end of the match. I don’t see us loosing the match.

  2. The line up is ok with me as we need Sanchez to have a good rest and recharg ready for the coming hectic.
Knowing Wenger however dont get supprised when you see either Arteta or Flamin instead of Chambo Or Giroud

    3-0 COYG

    1. Well, that’s their egg, they should boil it. But like I told my brother, I do not think any Spanish playmaker will thrive under Mou.

  3. OT

Anyone think Arsenal should make a cheeky January bid for Kouyate?

Been impressed with his play all season and has been bossing this game against Chelshit.

  4. Cech
    Bellerin-Gab-Boss-Monreal
    Le Coq-Cazorla
    Ox-Ozil-Sanchez
    Giroud

    Gunners win 3-1.

haha Fabregas your goal got called back.
