Arsenal v Leicester Betting Preview – Back the Gunners to get goals!

So Arsenal get to open the Premier League season on Friday night with a home game against Leicester City, and with the Gunners bringing in Alexandre Lacazette and Saed Kolasinc it is little surprise that we are the hot favourites against a team that was mostly disappointing last season while reigning title holders.

Currently Arsenal are 1/2 favourites with Coral, which could be very good value if Arsenal click at the first time of asking. Even better value is the 25/1 on an Arsenal win for new customers at Coral, so it should be worth checking out before the game. The price of 5/1 for Leicester to win is probably about right, but as Arsenal have been used to having a poor opening game for many seasons the 10/3 for the draw is likely to be popular with neutrals.

But we had an excellent game against Chelsea last week in the Community Shield, and despite being outsiders we still managed to come away with the trophy. This should give us a great confidence boost and definitely an extra edge in match fitness over our opponents.

With that in mind I think this makes it make it more likely that we come away with the three points and despite expecting Leicester to play a defensive game I still think we can score lots of goals. The Leicester captain Wes Morgan gave us an idea of what to expect when he said after https://www.lcfc.com/news/446539/morgan-were-readyLeicester’s pre-season win against Mönchengladbach: “It was a tough game and we feel like it’ll be like that against Arsenal – they keep the ball and had a lot of possession and worked the angles.

“They got the first goal so we had to dig deep and had to come back from a goal behind which is never easy, but it’s just good to show character and finish off with a win in pre-season.

“We’re a team that do a lot of defending and like to counter attack, so it’s good to get in your stride and get into the swing of things by knowing your positions, angles and distances.”

So if Leicester start off defensively on Friday I think this will be play into our hands. Wenger has been emphasising the need for a fast start and our boys will be up for attack, attack, attack if the Foxes want to spend most of the time in their own half. I like the odds on Arsenal to score at least twice in the first half at 3/1 from Coral, but my absolute banker bet must be Arsenal to win the match by at least two goals at 27/20.

Get on the Gunners!

  1. Now Now gooners. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We haven’t started our past few PL’s off very well.

Let the boys do their thing and we’ll celebrate after.

  2. It’s gonna be tougher than the last season, because Leicester City and the other teams are more prepared for Arsenal’s 3-4-2-1 tactic. As seen from the last few matches in the last season and in the preseason, Arsenal struggled to score from open play.

To crack the opponent open, Arsenal has to use the fast, hardworking and skillful players again, such as:
    – Lacazette, Welbeck and Iwobi in the front.
    – Kolasinac/ Monreal and Chamberlain as the wingbacks.

Leicester City is going to sit back and wait to launch fast counterattacks. Arsenal doesn’t have skillful and creative midfielders, so they have to rely on Xhaka’s and Elneny physicalities. Hopefully this will be sorted out before the transfer window closes.

We scored and won by 2+ goals in our last 5 PL games…

    1. Admin wouldn’t do that as it would be quite unprofitable, seeing as he is making a killing on adds on this site due to the heavy site traffic.

  3. Besides, we would lose the ability to comment on different articles, as well as lose the ability to thumb up or down a comment.

  4. I honestly don’t know what Arsenal to expect tonight, and we have a lot of players missing. My only optimism is the new formation. Since changing formation, I think that’s 10 wins from 11 games, 4 wins against top teams out of 5, and two trophies out of a possible 2. Whatever happens, Wenger must continue with the 3-4-3! Never ever go back 4-2-3-1!!

  5. I have a good feeling about this game. I expect a win. Doesn’t mean I have come to accept that anything can happen with this Arsenal but I still feel good about this game. The heart break will come later I fear.

  6. 160m for Mbappe

PSG gonna make a killing if Mbappe is a success in 4 – 5 years time

He would be 22- 23yo and they can still sell him for 300m

    1. Yea, They will make a killing out of Mbape if he doesn’t end up a flop or performs below expectation whilst in PSG

      1. I think football will implode at these price levels. This is not sustainable. I don’t think prices will be at 300 million in 4 years and if they are they would make 100 million profit or so but at those price levels that would get them a half Mbappe at that point in time.

I expect a second debate on financial fair play and a revision of rules.

  7. We will win it comfortably. Leister is a mid table team we are top 4 or 5 team. Nice game to open with. Not too easy and a game we should win. I hope we see lacca ok the score sheet and perhaps iwobi. I think if iwobi can get a few goals here or there it will help him find his scoring boots in later games.

  8. Can’t wait for our game tonight, hopefully today marks Arsenal first step to become EPL Champions in May 2018

  9. we don’t have to underestimate lesister as we have seen them on the last champions leage were the first from their group ,defeated the strongest laliga team sevilla on the knockout and atletico Madrid the strongest team in laliga also hardly, hardly deafted them .this team is very strong in defending and counter attacking. Arsenal has to be resolute in both attacking and defending.

  10. I wish arsenal football club and the fans the most successful season. let the games begin.
