Arsenal v Liverpool review – Dodgy offside denies Gunners win

There is no way that even the most ardent Arsenal fan can say that we were the better team in the first half but we stil should have been ahead at halftime, because while Liverpool had the better play and the better chances, Ramsey DID score a great goal after a peach of a pass from Cazorla. Liverpool must love the words offside right now because they are having all the bad decisions in their favour.

Apart from that, though, our play was terrible. I can understand the nerves at the back with Gabriel and Chambers being thrown in due to Kos and Mert being out, but you would think that the rest of the team would have made a real effort to dominate the game and protect them.

As it was we kept giving the ball away and inviting Liverpool to attack. Even right outside the box we pansied about and got caught on the ball. Thank god the real Petr Cech turned up this week because he saved us no end of times, including a point blank save from Bentek who could surely only score. Coquelin also stood up and did his best to stop the waves of pressure and made some crucial tackles.

Wenger must have given them a rocket because we looked a different team after the break and instantly took the game to the visitors. The passing was better but so was the penetration and we created a host of chances, without getting that crucial breakthrough.

Giroud had been well involved but was replaced by Walcott with 20 minites to go. Oxlade-Chamberlain came on soon after as well for Coquelin as Wenger smelled victory and he nearly provided it with a burst and ball from the right and if Skrtel had not put it just wide then Walcott was ready to tap in.

But we could not make our second half dominance count, so at the end of the day you have to say that Arsenal were denied all three points by a poor offside decision on Ramsey.

  1. the sad reality is that it seems we cant score, we let the defence of the opposing team to close down

    1. GIROUD MISSED 3 SITTERS !!! HE IS WOEFUL
5/6 HOME GAMES WE HAVE FAILED TO SCORE
YET FANS CALL OUR ATTACK FORCE IS ENOUGH ..
A STRIKER IS A NECCESSITY OTHERWISE STRUGGLE FOR 4TH AND BAD CL RUN

We are not breaking teams down because of this slow sideways football .. not direct rnough .. play on the counter for best efficiency with the ball .. BARCA HAVE LEARNT THIS AND HAVE ADAPTED WE NEED TO ALSO

      COQUELIN AMAZING WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE
      Gabriel good game aswell

      1. 5 Games in a row .. no goals at the emirates in the league… If wenger doesn’t get cavani now, I am gonna kill someone..

        1. Is Wenger playing lotto with arsenal’s team? Or what the hell was Ox doing on bench till 80th minute… I don’t see us going far except wenger starts using the right players at the right time (no natural RW until 80th minutes).

          1. He always plays the formation the fans want the least smh He should SIGN A F***ING STRIKER ! AND A F***ING GOAL SCORING MIDFIELDER FFS

        2. I’ve gave up , only 3 games in and already I know we can’t win the league …

Not scored a goal at home for 5 games , but apparently “we don’t need anybody else” because Danny welbeck (who scored 4 league goals last year ) is due to return !!!!

Genuinely challenge wenger or get out !!!!!!!

          1. Win?
Not with a striker who excels best in wrestling and tackling defenders.
Giroud could not lose a needle in an haystack .
You can go YouTube and dream of the good old days.
Just watch the old van Persie lose his marker to score a goal.
Watch him there on minute and missing the next.
Watch him do the real hold- up play by bring the team into the attack.
Sorry Giroud is not good enough.

        3. Our entire strategy is for the midfielder bounce the ball against a bang average Giroud while our midfielders feed of it .
But we forgot that our midfielders are poor goal scorers going by their records.

          My observations

Giroud limits our attacking option . We cannot counter attack or attack with pace .
He also congest the space which Sanchez loves to run into . He only scores tap-in and the headed goals are rare because of his poor movement .
48 goals in 100 appearances for a striker with all that creativity behind him is poor .
We have not scored in 5 of our last 6 home games and some people think Giroud is good enough.
Personally I think Giroud and Ramsey should be dropped for theo and ox.
Theo’s movement creates room for alexis Sanchez to exploit.
Sanchez’s goal scoring record dipped when Giroud came back from the broken leg last season .

      2. amazing le qoc ..that was an offside..no arguments…Liverpool were as well denied a penalty..I thought we will loose but am now ashamed of my negative altitude..arsenal for life. as long as we don’t loose them am with arsenal..we keep on improving ..for me an not so sad about the results.must sleep now.its 12midnight here in Kenya.see you guys

        1. No penalty. Coq hit the ball first. Clearly seen on the replay. Besides, there’s arguing whether this was in or out of the box. You guys in Kenya do get the replays, right?

      3. Gee I only saw Sanchez and Benteke miss sitters. OG was fouled all the way to the ground and got a shot off. Ok I guess that was make able but the other two were much easier. 3 sitters? Please.

        1. maybe if OG moved around once in a while he wouldnt be so easy to foul.
instead of always sitting off the shoulder of the CBs

      4. Yeah Giroud missed a sitter. He should’ve scored. But I didn’t get why Wenger took him off and forgot to bring someone in. At least that’s what it looked like. I’m genuinely impressed by walcotts vanishing trick. its better than David Blane’s.

      5. Our entire strategy is for the midfielder bounce the ball against a bang average Giroud while our midfielders feed of it .
But we forgot that our midfielders are poor goal scorers going by their records.

        1. I guess setting up Alexis for a point blank shot was getting in his way. When Theo came on and Skirtl almost put in for an own goal Theo was behind him. OG would have headed for near post and made n attempt to score. Theo is a great winger but offers little going against CB’ s with little room to work.
Our midfield must score. Santi and Ozil and Coq had the ball about 80% of the time in the second half. They must shoot and penetrate for our attack to be potent.

      6. I would really like to know Wht does the Ox have to do to get a start in this team and why can’t wenger see that Ramsey is useless on the wing as he gives is no width.. We basically played the entire game on the left side of the field which made us so easy to close down..also why can’t he see that giroud is not good enough and we need to play walcott more or get a proper CF

    2. I can understand Wenger waiting till the last minutes of the transfer window to get bargain buys. what I do not understand is why Wenger would wait till the last minutes before making a change in a match we needed to win by all means possible. Someone please inform Wenger that you do not pay a dime to make changes in a match.

    3. Lessons learned.
      1) Callum Chambers is not ready for the PL. He needs a loan to Cardiff or someplace.
      1) Two back fours will nullify Arsenal’s intricate passing game.
      3) Most you are panicky crybabies. Get some testosterone from Justin Gatling; man up, you embarrass the males of the species.

    4. To me this Ramsey on the wings experiment is a failed one……..give it up already Wenger…….give it up……… Leaving The ox on the bench for 80mins and sticking with a wasteful giroud all evening….pinpoints wenger’s incompetence and unequality to the task. *gutted*

      1. Would you be saying that if Ramsey’s goal was actually allowed? Ramsey played great today, worked very hard. Tbh he has more of a free role as supposed to right wing, because he’s everywhere on the field.

Don’t get me wrong though, Ox should be in the game

        1. one problem w ramsey drifting to the left: it got very crowded there. and there was acres of space on the right. we need to get wider. if we’re always so narrow, its easier to defend against us. for these home games where teams play 2×4 against us: we need to draw them out a bit to open up some space . what we’re doing now at home : passing sideways & sideways: it just compactifies their defense.

    5. The build up play is too slow and gives the opposition time to regroup – opposition defences happily let us play in front of them and out lack of width makes it even easier to defend.

I find myself shouting “Just fx@king shoot will you!!!!” at the TV.

      1. we need to change to a faster counterattack. all this slow side-to-side is killing us. plus we’re to narrow. there’s nowhere to shoot. 8 defenders and giroud clogging up the space.

    6. 62 shots 2 goals not good enough…we can create all day but whats the point if we cant score… A lot of pluses to take away from today game. Coq and gab looked great. Cech won his first point for us. Midfeild looked ok a little slow at times. Still dont understand why wenger waits so long to make subs. Think hes way to confident in the first team and trust must be low on bench. Theo ox need to start in my book rambo girourd have to drop. Atleast a game to see if works better because the first three games have been lacking pace from the start of the game

      1. i’d like wenger to push the koz/paulista pairing . but still worried if coq gets injured etc. cech did get the point for us. the linesman was LFC’s best player. ox needs to start. but ramsey’s was quite good IMO.

    7. I wish we could play our best eleven for a game. Cech-Bellerin-Gabriel-Kos-santi-Le Coq-Sanchez-Ozil-Walcott-Giroud. We need the speed up front. I love Ramsey, but we need to try something new. When teams park the bus against City, the players still find a way to score. We need to change the MF, so Alexis can get some goals.

      1. wonder if AW will have guts to try out sanchez or walcott at CF versus newcastle?
and then ox would make up the 3rd: that would be a very fast top 3 and we could play totally differently [but i dont see how giroud could fit into that system]
walcott did ok at CF in pre-season a couple of times.
he does disappear though. but maybe time to give him a chance.

  2. Shambolic display. Missed sitters, legit goals disallowed, Chambers trying to gift Liverpool the win..

Giroud has ZERO footballing brains. Either you score or you go down, the foul was there, Jesus Christ.

Sanchez missed a sitter again.. Well at least he has defensive contribution to the team.

    1. Oh by the way:

3 matches into the season, 5 points behind the leader, 9 goals behind in GD. Let that sink in.

        1. Let us never forget the difference between an “accident” and a deliberately orchestrated event. Failure at Arsenal is always Arsenes plan, directly or indirectly.

  3. Ramsey scored a good goal.no way it was offside. I’m not sad cuz I did excpect a draw.motm cech. Some great saves. Lecoq and Gabriel were awsome

    1. Ya that really did change the game, we were at our free flowing best in the early minutes and pool couldn’t cope. Going 1-0 up 8 min in would’ve really killed there spirits.

But having said that we were pretty poor at both ends, Coq, Gabriel, Nacho, and cech were amazing though. We really have to be better if we want to challenge for the title

      1. Don’t forget Bellerin. 19-year old lad had to play RB and RW the whole 90 minutes for us because of Wenger’s stubbornness.

  4. 6 games without scoring at home!!!
Yeah Wenger is right, we have so much potential offensively, just embarrasing!!!
    How pathetic is that?!?!?!?

    1. were not scoring at home bc teams play 2×4 defense against us and all our attack goes thru OG. plus we’re so narrow. i liked ramsey’s innovation today but he hangs too much to the left and there was acres of space on the right (not until ox came did we threaten from the right).
when we’re at home, maybe sanchez at CF? and giroud when we’re away when they dont park the bus.

  5. Never play Giroud again!!!

Ox did more in 15 minutes then Giroud has done since the start of the season!!!

    1. But they play different positions….. So if you wanna sound credible criticize giroud and say how he was poor not compare him to a f*cking RW who came on in the 80th min when legs were tired

      1. No child!! My point is, if there is a player on the bench who has 1000 times more of an effect then Giroud, then why play him?

Walcott or Ox could play striker and have Ox RW as you kindly pointed out

      2. No child!! My point is, if there is a player on the bench who has 1000 times more of an effect then Giroud, then why play him?

Walcott or Alexis could play striker and have Ox RW as you kindly pointed out

    2. And what did theo his replacement do?
The biggest mess up of the transfer window has been turning theo into a St because it means we are not likely to get anyone plus a.w always says talks of we have to many wingers so no forward as well .

I panic when coqulan looked injured because we have nothing like him we talk of having the big physical lump but why not go for someone like coqulan

Chambers also needs a loan so having krychowiak would mean we could cover his cb position or get an so cb like we have done in the pass eg squid, fish face silvestre, sol Campbell second coming ect minus the poor performance

  6. when they are vulnerable we must drible the man or take a shot, instead we star to pass and pass

    1. yeah but with the amount of Liverpool players clouding the box, it was hard to get a clear shot off. They did what bottom teams normally do to us and succeeded

      1. but there where times when their defence was not close down, and we dont have pushed there anyway

  7. Cech man of the match, followed by Coquelin. We should have had a penalty on Giroud as well although I’m not surprised it wasn’t given. Overall probably the right ending result.

  8. And arsene left his gay lover giroud on the pitch for 70 mins. Why play players out of position, chamberlains contribution was much more better than giroud for 70 mins wenger u deluded old fart

  9. 5 points off city already. Where are all those that were criticising my article when i said this team is not good enough to win the league. As usual we shall turn up at the end to scrap for 4th position. Liverpool were better than us at home. that is sad.

    1. Your a sad little man if you think liverpool were better than us at home just to prove your point. Liverpool played like a mid table side parking a bus just praying they wouldn’t lose. If the ref didn’t cheat us we woulda won 2/3-0 no doubt in my mind

    1. once he passed inside, i wished he’d go behind his man and take the shot. might as well since he’s the de-facto RW.

  10. No balance = No goals. Threat in behind from one of the front three.

Every time you look up Ramsey was over on the left side crossing balls into where he should’ve been on the right side. The moment the Ox came in and we had proper width it immediately created chances.

We won’t win the league because Arsene is too too stubborn. Giroud misses a sitter, and Ramsey still wide.

Great game from Coquelin. Great performance from Paulista.

    Poor poor poor from Arsene.

    1. Our home form has gone out the window, crashed onto the street, and has been ran over by a truck multiple times. We need to revive it ASAP.

      1. Agree, have hated the way we look at home now for quite a while – prefer us playing away tbh. If only we could create an atmosphere like say Selhurst Park. 6 home wins out of the the first 30 PL fixtures is quite a stat though!!

  11. Dodgy offsides and a clear penalty. Wonder if Mike Oliver would’ve called it if Giroud didn’t get a shot off

  12. Striker is needed clearly. Giroud will be effective at the end as a sub for sure.
What does ox do on the bench? What does Gabriel do on the bench?
Midfield is solid. Cazorla and ozil really control it and coquelin is a great shield.

So yea a striker is really needed, if we are actually challenging for EPL and UCL. are we?

  13. Santi and Ozil have so many chances to shoot around the top of the box. Ox comes on and challenges their keeper right away. Santi used to be able to shoot. He is not creating chances for us and certainly doesn’t shoot on target from the top of the box.

    1. Santi is more of a distributor now because he plays from deep. Certain traits change.
But yes, Ozil needs to put on shooting boots.

      1. are you comparing a fit giroud (w/ preseason) against a 80% fit sanchez (without preseason), ….. Celia, it’s that you??

        1. Yes, he is. Are you saying that a plauer who DID play pre season cannot be compared to one that was resting?

  14. Will LeProf ever conceded that we need a striker? I’d be happy with anyone else, even Benteke.

  15. I like ramsey but why is it that he is never substituted.. he is guaranteed 90mins every game, see the problems ox caused them wen he came on. With ramsey, everything is always muddled up in the middle which limits the space for alexis, ozil and giroud. I hope ox starts more games. Good games from coquelin and cech

    1. Because he’s versatile, a good defender and has a crazy engine.
Played an attacking role, the slipped in deeper when Coquelin was tiring.

    2. Good question, @Lupe. Why won’t Arsene substitute Ramsey?????????????? That’s no f***king rhetorical question. No matter how bad he is, he plays on, whole time. Why won’t Arsene leave him out once or twice or change him in the second half?

By the way, Ramsey IS NOT A WINGER, why leave Ox and Theo and the bench just to accommodate Ramsey?

  16. there are so many cooks OOOOOHHHH!!! and why cant we shoot ?????
right wing was wasted in the entire match !!!!!!
even if we get cavani or bender or anybody we aint gonna win the league cuz wenger is the main reason why we cant win!!!!
only positive was a clean sheet from cech

  17. Every other comment has been slating Giroud, I’m not his biggest fan but the whole team were terrible first half him included. Second half our whole team looked better Giroud included. Sanchez was poor he gave it away far too often, Walcott was also shocking when he came on, didn’t look like doing anything. It’s no surprise when he replaced Giroud that we suddenly didn’t look like scoring. I can’t believe the amount of people blaming Giroud for this game, he’s not a world beater but it proved he’s much better at CF than Walcott. Ramsey had a good game, but I suppose people won’t see that because he started on the wing. Truth be told we just looked defensively poor and that’s understandable considering our two first choice CBs were out, if any team were to lose that they would be struggling.

    1. walcot has no body strength. Obviously he will be useless when liverpool were sitting deep at the end. We were still playing target man when walcot came on. Very very strange, indeed.

    2. @seatofthesoul
      Sensible observations – I agree 100%
When you don’t win fans always think – better players were on the bench and would have made a Messi like difference.

  18. Against top teams we need to win at home and draw away. Unfortunately in the past the best we seem capable of is a draw at home and lose away. Lets hope this is a blip and not a trend.

  19. Wow 3 seasons now and peeps are still debating over a certain guy whilst always being average. For what thou soeth so shall thou reapeth.Gabriel Paulista should start from now on.

  20. Play ox and Sanchez on the wings and Ramsey/coq or santi/coq in the middle with ozil in bergkamp hole.

Imagined if we attached from the outset like we did in the last 10 or so when Walcott/ox came on.

When Walcott was brought on Licerpool had already decided that were happy with the draw so there was zero space for theo to get in. But width caused the problems..

    Always does

  21. Giroud bashing again. He scored last week. Top strikers goals so far:
    Giroud 1
    Costa 1
    Aguero 1
    Benteke 1
    Lukaku 2

Other players are allowed to score too ie Alexis, Oxlade, etc

We need a Top striker but Beating up Giroud is not the answer. Blame Wenger

  22. DODGY OFFSIDE OR NOT WE DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN THIS GAME.

THIS IS A FULL 180 MINS AND A TEAM THAT AKB’s SAY CAN WIN THE TITLE CANNOT SCORE A GOAL AT HOME.

What frustrates me about Wenger is that he says there is no quality outside in the market. YET EVERY TIME WE WAIT TO SEE SUPPOSED QUALITY IN THE TEAM PERFORMANCE IT NEVER HAPPENS. The true story must be EITHER

    1) THE MANAGER IS LYING TO HIMSELF

    OR

    2) THE MANAGER HAS QUALITY BUT HAS NO CLUE WHAT TO DO

ALL I KNOW IS THAT WE NEED ADDITIONS TO THIS SQUAD, PERIOD!!!! STAY THIS WAY AND WE WILL WIN NOTHING THIS SEASON. … NOT EVEN THE FA CUP …..

  23. Chambers had a nightmare and Montero no where to be found. Gabriel looked solid after he settled down. IMO Gabriel played well for being left on bench so often.

Cech and Coq were great. Sanchez is amazing defensively; one of the most complete players to be found.
Ramsey played well and worked hard defensively. Santi was do for a nightmare.

Who gave away the ball more, chambers or Santi?
Ox should start; he was real spark when he came on

  24. as i’m told, the game is played east to west with the ultimate goal being to go North. Worded another way, you let the ball “circulate to penetrate”. We can’t penetrate because Giroud can’t run in-behind, and we have a CM playing wide that keeps not just drifting inward, but popping up on the opposite side of the field. Every time we attempted to probe on the left and then tried to come back out and penetrate on the right, there was no winger on the opposite side running diagonally to get in. So then we get stuck back over on the left.

NO BALANCE. Poor decision by Arsene. Have to play wide players wide and central players centrally. Have to have a CF that gives you a vertical option, can make something on his own, and can finish.

Stubborn Stubborn Arsene is the problem.

    1. OG needs crosses like Benteke had. Run in behind? There was no behind just the keeper right behind Skirtl.

    2. CAM playing wide who drifted in scored a superd goal in critical moments of the game. It is not his fault that the officials decided to disallow the goal. Criticism is ok burt the moment it goes over the top and ignores facts becomes negativity.

  25. Chambers was awful…..if not for coquelin, we would have lost
The title of this article should have been “Coquelin, the saviour”

  26. Wow 3 seasons now and peeps are still debating over a certain guy whilst always being average. For what thou soeth so shall thou reapeth.Gabriel Paulista should start from now on.How did Wenger not start Chamberlain or Walcott on the wing.Ei is this man correct. He seems so awkward at times.Anyway a disappointing performance as usual season by season we expect this kind of performance. However BIG UPS TO THE PLAYAS

  27. Giroud was poor today. He wasn’t winning anything in the air. Wasn’t holding the ball up.
But the whole team in the first half except Cech were poor. We need to improve QUICKLY!!

  28. A Game of two halves….Disappointed with the draw as we controlled the 2nd half but Liverpool also did well in the first half. Gutted with the Ramsey disallowed goal. Some points:

    1. Giroud & Walcott won’t win us the league… We need better striker. Walcott was lost in this game. I wouldn’t have sub Giroud even if he was frustrating @ times

    2. Cech showed us why He is class. And I know He will save us points

    3. Chambers need a lot to learn. He was awful and couldn’t handle the occasion. Paulista was better in the 2nd half

    4. Coquelin really bossed that DM. Impressive Display

    5. Ozil had a really good game. Love how He controlled the game and was willing to push and gave some lovely true balls.

    6. Ramsey got energy. He had a good game too. Too bad, His goal was disallowed.

    7. Sanchez, Santi grew into the game. Bellerin and Monreal did ok… The players had a decent game except for Chambers.

Clean sheet’, Ramsey disallowed goal, Liverpool dominance in the first half, Arsenal dominance in the second half, I can go on and on….

    *Mixed feelings today.

    1. Agree with a lot of your points, more positive points here than Arsenal got today!lol.

A fair result, no team did enough to win. Yes Arsenal can always buy a player to improve, but ask yourself…who is available?

It’s harder to get the players now than once before. All players we had been linked to has come out and said they are happy where they are. What do you do? Pay over the odds? That’s not Arsenals belief and I respect that.

We can analysis today on what was good and bad, but in reality, in a tuff Market where (PSG, Barecelona, Real Mdrid, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea to name a few) will compete with us for players, we have to maximise our resources…and until we ship the likes of Campbell and get back Welbeck we won’t overcrowd our Squad and kill any aspirations Walcott, Welbeck and co will have to develop there game for Arsenal.

      Top transfers to date;
      Mandzukic (not worth getting IMO)
Dybala £22m. Could of been worth buying But he wanted to stay in Italy
Adriano £6m. Maybe could of been a decent buy for cover
Douglas Costa £25m. Not naturally a forward and not worth a punt for £25m
Khedira free transfer. An excellent back up who could easily have a run in the team but with Flamini, Arteta still on the books it’s difficult…besides, when he wants £140k your expect him to start…but is he swifter than Coq?
Martinez £25m. This is one that we should of gone for. Natural goal scorer.
Kondogbia £28m Again too many options in this position and Wenger would want Bielik to be in the first team soon
      Bacca £21m. Not worth it!
Vidal £28m. Would of been a Good signing and a starter but again, Wenger needs to sort out the Flamini Arteta situation!

We have to look at wages, Wenger has 3/4 players on £100k plus. That’s fine, but our squad is made up still of a group of players who equate to that of the top four.

Until Flamini, Cambell, Rocisky, (£130k a week) is released, Arsenal won’t go spend for fun!

      1. spend for fun…… hahahahahaha, it’s that you wenger???
you always can fack off shitty players like flamini and other to make more room for another player….

      2. @ Arsenal fan, Wenger could have bought Vidal, who could have walked into any team in the PL. Wenger gave an extension to Arteta, and Flamini would have left if we paid the difference in his salary.
The only reason Vidal is not playing for Arsenal is because Wenger is an old, stubborn, fart.
        That is all.
We could have bought Pedro if we wanted to, or Otamendi in defense. These players were within reach.
        Fuuuuuuuuuck Wenger.

  29. Hilarious
Blame everyone around except the manager.
Just like the manager blames everyone except himself.
Only the most dense of people fail to see this pattern and that is why Wenger is still in a job.
Because if he was at any other club with title aspirations he would have been gone YEARS ago..

  30. Ox is our best player at the moment. He created more chances in 10 minutes than the rest of the team all night. Wenger needs to start Ox but won’t.

    1. But Ox was the reason any comeback against West Ham became impossible. He gave away a cheap ball at the edge of the area resulting in the West Ham second goal. You canot make suck an error in a counter attacking team like Liverpool.

      1. so, this is how you justified to wenger for left Chamberlain in the bench?….. hahahaha, you are a deluded AKB…. by your logic Koscielny would must clean the bathroom right now…..

        1. U see…? You go from a logic reason to Los cleaning whatever.
          And who is deluded?
Ffs analyzer called for objective opinions

  31. What can i say. We played the Arsenal way and got deserved 1 point from the game.

    Benteke>Giroud.
Gabriel was okay, he is a decend back up cb.
Chambers was not so good. I dont blame him though.

Liverool played the Chelsea way. They came to defend and tryed to get a lucky goal at times. Man of the match for was Cech. Without him we would lose the game.

Need a new striker asap. And i dont understand why a bench player at Arsenal earns 140k

  32. f*ck why always ramsey at wing. not effective proven + to many speculation shoot, cazorla was so lazy!! didnt do much contribution to the team ,coq trying to be pirlo but total fail , attack created from wing just so awful ,no penetration from sanchez just give it to ozil/ramsey , giroud lack of communication / lack of movement, walcott wasnt born to be a cf.
instead ramsey why wenger didnt take walcott/ ox since begining.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

imo only ozil(attack,pass)/gabriel(deff,blocking)/cech(great saving) contribute better than the other. in this game arsenal play like they didnt have winning spirit&mentality. they play just like whatever it win or lose i dont care since i still got payed. omg

football now its just boring, big team nowaday play parking bus just like liverpool in this match + new offside rule = bunch of absolute boredom.

  33. Lol

Particularly Chuffed about the result and performance to booth! Outplayed by liverpool for vast majority of the game.
The more catastrophic the capitulation the better for AFC ultimately. Long may it last. That way, the position of this muppet and delusional manager becomes untenable. Wenger out!!!

  34. Probably the most idiotic headline since “fog over the channel continent isolated” … Everything about that game tells you arsenal will never again win a title under wenger ..never … Wenger is too stupid stubborn and tired …. I just hope this is his last season as we have become enslaved to a pernicious brand of gallo-corporate bs

  35. My take on this game is that Arsenal was not good today. Even though there was a bad offsides call, there were other things from Arsenal that were not good. The back line was not good, and gave away too many balls, and at times looked a shambles. It also points out the need for someone who can unlock a defense and create a score. I don’t see that at this point. Lots of give aways, less than precise passes. Czec was brilliant today, and compensated for a shaky defense. Also the need for a quality DM was also showed today. Coq was burnt out . Finally, a wide player on the right earlier in the game would have provided more opportunities for a goal. Ox should have started. I know why AW likes Ramsey, but I think Ox on the right side gives the team more punch.

    1. Coq burn out wtf he was top notch, you wont get a better defensive performance from a DM.

      Unless you play 2

      1. I agree Coq was top notch, but at 75 mins in he was burnt out from all of the work he put in, and we could have used another DM

  36. We can’t score because of Wenger’s player selection/formation. When Walcott and Ox played at the end of last season, in FA Cup and in Comm Shield……… Arsenal scored and won all of those games.

Now that Wenger has gone back to the ridiculous player selection with no Ox or Walcott, suddenly there is no scoring again and no winning.

Does it take a genius to figure out the problem??

But Wenger REFUSES to submit any lineup that does not have at least one CAM playing out of position. This has been a problem for years now – and he REFUSES to deal with it because it might involve sitting his favorite son on the bench sometimes.

    1. You realize one of these players playing ‘out of position’ scored tonight??
The ref got it wrong, it was a goal.

      1. So what? That doesnt make it right! Ramsey should not play as a RW when we have Theo and OX sitting on the bench.

  37. I think we are set now.
All we need is an injured 31 year old has been that can’t play until Christmas and we will win the 4TH Place Trophy. 🙂

  38. Thank you Benzema for ending all the rumors

Benzema tweet this today with picture of him sitting in Real Madrid dressing room.

“For all those clowns who want to make believe things at my fans. Here this is my home ! #HalaMadridYNadaMas,”

  39. Have you guys realized that since Fabregas left Arsenal our passing style of play has changed a bit.I still feel the void he left is still there its a pity he left and never came back the same player. He was so good i thought we could win the title with him even playing because when he played 8 out of 10 times we won.But hey sometimes we say somethings.By the way how does Ramsey play on the wing please explain.

    1. OK. I’ll explain.
He scored one of those goal things (kinda important) only to have it WRONGFULLY disallowed.
Got in behind a couple of times only to miss Giroud by inches.
Defensively was one of the best players on the pitch.

      1. i’m pretty sure that le coq (and paulista too) was the best defensively player on the pitch….
the entire match, arsenal waste the right side until chamberlain come to the pitch…
ramsey like winger is a waste of space and unbalance the team..

  40. The problems in the first half were the fault of the players – half the team giving the ball up needlessly and repeated. Wenger did his job and fixed this at half time.

The problems exposed in the 2nd half (lack of scoring) are Wenger’s fault. Did you see the Arsenal attack fully energized when Ox came on? (80 minutes too late).

    1. Ox made a big impact, but our best chances in the second half came before his inclusion. I thought going forward we showed huge improvement and were unlucky not to score. Sanchez’ chance was golden! as was Giroud’s.
Well… Unlucky not to score within the rules of the game and somehow not have it show on the scoreboard.

  41. if arsenal doesnt sign another they shud atleast use players in their correct positions
all along I thought paulista and chambers would make a good partnership maybe in future.just get behind the team!!!for how long are we going to do this.the whole team is out of form.I feel pity for the fans who pay alot of money to just watch mediocrity.who should we blame the fans not being loud enough, tactical naivety by arsene, players not turning up??

  42. Wenger will lead Arsenal to the Premiership.
Wenger will lead Arsenal to CL glory.
Wenger is a washed up has been who recently won a cup that no one cares about anymore.
No one cares about the FA cup anymore – thats why they air it at 5:30 now because no one cares..
    Except Wenger..

  43. i don’t expect to win the league, i don’t really feel the need for cavani or benzema. i just want wenger to stop playing ramsey on the right wing. ox is by far our best and most exciting player going forward yet wenger plays ramsey who gives us now width, no overlap capability on the right. drifts inside and clogs up the middle for ozil and giroud.

giroud plays off balls into the box. yet both sanchez and ramsey both drift inside which only leads to tippy happy football around the box.

its not girouds fault, its wengers love for aaron ramsey. until this is sorted out we have no chance and are so predictable to teams coming to our ground.

  44. It’s a game of 50/50. Any side could have won.

    50% positive:
    – Gabriel is ready to partner Kos
    – Cech IS world class
    – Coquelin was great

    50% negative:
    – we are still missing going forward, tonight our central midfield should have been Sati, Ramsey, Coquelin
    – we are too soft and giving the ball away in dangerous positions
    – Walcott had no impact

We need a striker and a DM, maybe even an emergency CB
    – AW is still playing narrow with Ramsey on the wing

  45. For f#$k’s sake… Liverpool granted an offside goal, grabs them 3pts. Us denied, draw.
Seriously… Massive, massive momentum swing. Both for them and for us. Absolute Joke.
Chambers, chambers, chambers… Lucky is an understatement. Bailed out big time
Ozil was fantastic, he’s gone from a peripheral figure with moments of sheer brilliance to a hungry player who’s constantly involved.
Ramsey did the dirty work, wronged of what should have been a game deciding moment and IMO justified the start.
The Giroud sub made no sense. Either we play with Theo at striker from the start and give him a chance to establish himself and his runs, or he comes on in a supporting, stretching role. Losing our Aerial outlet and focal point in attack is just too big a change at 70mins.

  46. This game sums it all up for me. We still need a good Central Defender, a DM And very mobile CF. This happens ALWAYS. Lacklustre display, mediocre backline, unnecessary passings till the ball is dead, name it. Panicking through every game is not good for anyone’s health. The board and Wenger better sort this quickly oherwise disaster is looming.

  47. Arsene, it’s time to pack up your bag and leave, you stubbornly, arrogant buffoon! This man makes me sick as much as I’m sure I’ll make him sick when I do get to meet him face to face. He’s done all he can for us and it’s time he waved us goodbye and disappear into the sunset with his millions!!!

    1. Yes, it’s high time things have to change. And I think now it’s the manager that needs to Change. I love this guy men….but he’s too stubborn and arrogant.

  48. We are indeed title contenders and Giroud will lead us to glory. Wenger need not sign anyone, the players we have are enough.

    R.I.P., dear sarcasm.

  49. Wenger just said he thinks we played well in the 1st half but Liverpool deffendid well¿??????? The man’s gone mad

  50. We are going to play catch up again. Can’t wait for the League cup and FA cup to begin since we only got the chance to hold that trophy.

  51. Put the money on table for griezmans buyout clause or go get reus coz a quarter million quids worth of mediocrity a week for giroud and the whippet is a footballing joke … Thats 3 games how many more to the arse(ne) sniffers need before they wake up and smell the coffee …and another weekend with Ramsey in arsenal shirt will just about be it for me … Some moron questioned whether draxler was better … U must be f****** kiddin me ….Only good thing to come out was Gabriel can certainly take over from mert no sweat … Coq had a good game …pointless keeping ozil if we don’t have targets for him may as well cash in and feather the nest of the corporates destroying this club …

  52. Boring match with majority possession ball on our side… So predictable when we’re playing with no wide on the right side, ramsey always make run to center area…
OX change the game & need to be starter…

just one benteke could make havoc on our defence, that’s what we call a striker…
Our giroud hardly winning ball in the air against pool’s CB & his pace killing him off, it’s so sad because he is our lead striker now…

    wenger never change like always…

  53. And there goes Arsenal’s title challenge.

We played good enough to earn 4th to 6th place.

We’ll be delusional to think we can win the title with this team…especially with Giroud up front.

I actually got a scare when I thought Coq was injured.

Cech kept us in the match.

  54. WENGER OUT whoever thumbs me down is a CHELSKI fan…….the man is delusional, senile obsolete all that nonsense of ARSENALS offensive power 1 goal in 3 games 0 goals in 5 / 6 games at the EMIRATES this man is a joke. If the players are not performing CHANGE them you old fart.

  55. Okay, lets look at the positives
    1. Cech played like a mother-fooling BOSS
    2. um uh um Cech played like a mother- fooking BOSS
    3. Cech had save of the season so far
    4. We didn’t lose??
I give up. Cech was the only positive lol
    Oh wait…
    5. This may make Wenger SPEND BIG

    1. LOL…Cech really made a statement today out there. He is still WORLD CLASS… Hope he keeps up like this.
Chambers, go and cry to your mummy, boy. This game is for men-just look at Bellerin, that boy clearly has b@lls!!

    2. I’ll give Chambers a little credit though, he played better in the second half. Then again it was probably because our offense wasn’t giving up the ball as much

  56. Cech – wow for 33 he is still world class, dis bis job superbly. What on earth was Chambers doing in the first half? His nerves tore our whole defence apart. We were lucky not to concede a goal from Liverpool due to the world class DM we have in Coquelin! What a beast he is! Özil did superbly too. The only change I would have made today at half time would be the OX for Cazorla. He and Chambers were abysmal today. We clearly need a striker who can tear defences apart, not Giroud, nor Walkott.

  57. Did anyone else hear Carragher say that Liverpool haven’t looked like conceding in their first three games? Apart from the legitimate goal Ramsey scored. And Sanchez hitting the post. And Giroud fluffing his lines from six feet. And the penalty on Giroud when Lucas stepped on his foot. What a mug.

  58. Screw Cech Coq and whoever else.
I was ssoooooooooooo fascinated by Gabriel. *hands up*
this guy is just too awesome. He def is even better than kos. His marking is just soo good, his tackles are so gooddd. His game reading, esp where he’d time the air balls and run round Benteke to get the ball before Benteke even knows what happened? Gabriel In our defence AsAp

  59. I have just got home and from the comments on here I am glad I missed this game.. Same old Arsenal.

We are so damn frustrating. We never seem to push on when we are expected to..

    smh

  60. Same thing happens almost every game. All attacking players are wasteful not just in front of goal but even when passing. Most of these passes are first time ones, which they try to make trying to play slick football, but again most of these don’t come off right.

We had over 60 shots in three games and only scored 2.

Only thing Cech couldn’t save this evening is three points, because our attacking players couldn’t score. Okay Ramsey goal should’ve stood, but what is he doing on the left side? He plays as if he has a free role.

Finally when Giroud starts playing well, he is taken off. £140k a week player comes in and can’t even get a touch on the ball.

  61. The starting 11:

    Cech
    Bellerin – Kos – Gabriel – Monreal
    Coquelin – Santi
    Ox – Ozil – Alexis
    Giroud

Still hoping for DM back up and WC forward….

  62. This game taught us the importance of defensive partnerships. I think those that cry out for the replacement of per by gabriel now know why that is not happening. All the chances created by Liverpool players were down to individual errors by defenders bar Monreal. The midfielders had to come back to rescue the situation now and again. As a result there was very little happening going forward

This Giroud bashing is an emotianal reaction to a disappointing result and no more. How many chances did Aguero had on Sunday and how many went. It is therefore rediculous to expect all chances by a striker go in.

A new phenomenon is cries by fans to play Ox ahead of Ramsey. These cries ignore the fact that in the CP game it was the impact of Ramsey that forced CP to change tactics forcing the manager to push back Cabaye to deal with the Ramsey threat. Today Ramsey score a weell worked goal early on which the match officials consprired to deny. Such is his impact. In the context of today’s game we should be thankful that we had extra men in midgield as midgieders rescued us time without numbers from potential consequences of silly errors by our defenders. Ox is one such player who is prone to costly errors. If he had started today we could have paid for those errors and his own that come up from time to time.

All said and done a game always have thrre possible results. Draw, win, and lose. Today it wasa draw thanks to match officials. In the course of the season such mistakes will even out. Who know we may benefit two points are the bridge from offiaciting errors. That will be more than satisfying isnt it?

    1. hahahahahaha, you are a deluded man, we WASTE the right side, even my blind grandpa can see that…. i can’t even remenber how many times the announcer and the others said so….. and you bench an extraordinary chamberlain for 1 mistake, what a pathetic excuse, let me ask you.. how many facking mistakes make you beloved aaron ramsey a few years ago???? how many times arsene left him in the bench for that??…….

  63. sell özil,
put cazorla on his cam position,
    play ramsey alongside coq
walcott (or sanchez) and ox on the wings
    sanchez (or walcott) as striker

that is the best what we have and we should go with it.
not saying ox is perfect on lw, but its the best we can do with our current squad.
next match giroud is in the starting lineup i will turn off the tv immediately

    1. can some of thumb downs explain his opion?
is it because i want to sell lazy özil, lets call him lazil

  64. I think Wenger was responsible yet again by playing people in the wrong position. In the first 20 minutes Rambo wasn’t fast enough to get two clear passes down the right wing. Fair enough because he ISN’T a right winger Wenger. I was crying for Ox to come on the right wing, and he is finally let on in the last 10 minutes. That was the best period we had in the entire game, and that was no co-incidence. I don’t quite know what Chambers was doing in defence, I think even championship players wouldn’t pass to ball to the opposition in the penalty area.

I think Cech was our MOTM, with Bellerin coming in a close second and Ox was good when he was finally allowed on. Alexis had a bad game by his standards, Ozil was brilliant and hopeless in equal quantities, but looked unconfident to shoot on goal. Rambo tried, but isn’t a right winger.

  65. Stupid title! What about excelent goalkeeping denoes liverpool away win? Gabriel must start next to kos now even if both players usually play on the left, work it out wenger. Also this is obviously going to be the season where teams line up two banks of four abd camp out against us. Lets get a target man but one thats faster and more mobile than giroud, cavanni please wenger! Also please please sign krychowiak or bender. Trying to take positives from tonight, we didnt lose, gabriel was awesome and if wenger had any doubts about buying a striker hopefully he’ll go for it now.

    1. Wenger wont sign anyone 99.9 percent sure. Somehow if he does we will still not win the league or UCL. Wenger got no tactics.

    2. You amaze me by your desire to see a negative headline. It is a fact that Arsenal were denied a clear goal by match officials. That Cech made two decisive saves explains why he is our first choice keeper no lucky there. That Mignolet made a point blank save on Giroud attempt explains why he is their number one and we cannot say we were unlucky.

Gabriel and Chambers were shaky and unsure about themselves so I do not know why you would want the manager to change a settled partneship.

  66. Know u Wenger fans understand why I want Wenger out. Clueless Mr Bean picks his favourite players Giroud. Plays Ramsey on wing despite being poor there. He doesnt even give Walcott games and drops our best player in opening game.

  67. We wont finish in top 4 this season. Wenger has ruined this season by not signing top striker
and CDM and picking his best players over better players and playing Ramsey on the wings
over Ox and dropping Walcott on the bench without any reason.

  68. How AW can defend that shit is madness. Rambo not good enough. The defenders not good enough. They must play together training just in case this happened. We need world class defender world class DM world class CF end of and we won’t win shit this year. Ozil what is it with him? If he wants to go sell him

    1. Wenger has to resign. He cant take the team forward. He is a 4th place manager and wont be
      close to champions.

  69. I didn’t see the game, but from reading everyone’s opinions it seems we still need a top CF who scares defenders, but possibly most importantly, we need the manager to employ better tactics with the players at his disposal..

A win a loss and a draw is not a disaster, but it’s pretty poor against 2 mid table teams and one that thinks it is top four but is only top 8.

It could be worse, but it could have been a lot better too. I wouldn’t get too carried away with City’s form, they will stumble along the way once teams work them out.

Most importantly though, why are we so erratic? Is it the players, is it tactics or is it a bit of both? It’s beyond frustrating that we (for me) have a squad that played to their strengths would be top 2-3 every year but are consistently under performing. I do think we need 1 or 2 top signings, but would that only be papering over the cracks of our fundamental problems?

It feels like we need a manager who responds to the game with tactical substitutions, that plays squad members in their best positions and who sings players that can make us better. Is that AW? I’m not sure it is.

  70. Watched his MOTD interview …. Sad …. Just a complete bullshit artist … Blamed officials talked about team spirit happy about performance in second half …. Same every year with guy …not even honest assessment
The man has passed his sell by date and until he leaves we will be second tier club with first tier stadium …

    1. Agreed. Otamendi went to City for 32m. Vidal went to Bayern for 28m. Together 60m. What a difference they would have made.
      Cech was amazing
Bellerin was bad in the first half good in the second
Gabriel covered fro Chambers like a boss. He would make a great partner with the real Boss
Chambers wow, dismal performance, need to learn a lot of basics about defending
Coquelin kept us in the game
Cazorla not good at all, he has no power in midfield.
Ramsey, should never play RW, but worked his ass off, should have been in the middle.
Ozil needs passing outlets played well again
Sanchez not his best day offensively, but tracked back amazingly
Giroud what can i say, not starting quality.

Wenger: An ass, a total disgraceful ass. He is the problem with this club. PERIOD. No transfers, bad tactics, shit results. It is ALL his fault. THe cushiest freaking job in the world. Win, draw, loose, still gets his 8m a year. What a waste of money.

  71. It’s not bad it’s just shit. Keep saying price of everything is up at arsenal even the pies. But still he won’t spend? Or is it that yank won’t let him

  72. Wenger – Still thinks mertesacker is good enough for the epl, Still hasn’t replaced our leader viera since a decade ago , still insists on playing Ramsey on the wing when we have a perfectly good wideman with Ox therefore slows down our attack , Still insists that Giroud is the only striker we need # Delusional . Has the money to spend but apparently no talent available – Schnedierlin – Schweinsteiger – Vidal – Kondogbia – Imbula – Khedira – Jackson Martinez- Benteke – Bacca -Cavani – Even Rondon (West brom) . Yes it’s only been 3 games but I am sick and tired of the same bullshit that is fed to us every season . Something has to change.. The reason why Wenger will never win us the EPL again is because he refuses to acknowledge his mistakes .

  73. Our fullbacks are more of wingers than most of our actual wingers thats a story in itself. The fullbacks , show their pace more often, put in better crosses, better interchanges, more productive attack when they go next to the byline. But that is too risky relying on fullbacks for that always. Our wingers need to be well more like wingers instead of coming almost always, especially to early which makes our shape to narrow, which means fullback always has to overlap. All that leads to why Wenger keeps starts Ramsey on the right? So that he could score from the left?

Also Wenger keeps talking about keeping Joel at the club when questioned on it, well where is he? We had two attacking options only today.

  74. Amazing how some fans are actually happy about Giroud notscoring.
But in general what amases me more is the actual pessimist attitude.
Cech showed up today A REASON TO BE HAPPY!
We didnt allow any goal when our USUAL PAIR OF KOS AND PER were absent! ANOTHER REASON!
we had a goal wrongly disallowed…REASON TO BE KIND OF HAPPY since its not that we didnt hit the back of the net.

Now I am NOT SAYING IS HEAVEN. but its definitley not hell

  75. If you are going to put a makshift RW atleast put Bellerin there instead of Ramsey and play Debuchy at RB. Then you will a big difference.

    1. We already have a RW … the Ox, one of the best in the business. Why he was only brought on for the last 10 minutes when he clearly turned the game around, I have no idea. I know he has trouble lasting longer than 60 mins, but he should’ve been brough on in the second half.

  76. What a game! Some observations as I think there were tons of positives in this match.

Coquelin is a very impressive holding mid and can become world class. He has the attitude, he knows his position and role, plays quickly and confidently, and can pass long. We are very lucky to have him. Let’s find a backup for him that can play at a similar level. The more time Coquelin get’s the better he will become.

Gabriel was a good pickup. He played confidently which countered the nervousness of Chambers. His performance gives me some comfort that we have at least one backup at CB. He could start for Mert and I wouldn’t complain.

Petr Cech showed his value and earned us a point today. Pundits have said he is work 8-10 points for Arsenal. If he plays the same as today, I’d have to agree.

Ozil is genius. Let me repeat that. Ozil is genius. He is playing with much more confidence this year and was the glue of our second half. His speed of decision making is amazing. I really don’t think we have a player who can play at his intellectual level, which I think holds him back. He is very different than last year in my opinion. ( Did he bulk up a bit?). I was a critic of him last year like many, but I like what I see this year.

Ramsey is starting to pick it up. If Wenger want start him, he should start in the middle rather than drift there on every play and ruin our shape. To me, contrary to many I assume, the Box to Box CM position is the weakness position at Arsenal. Cazorla and Ramsey should have a massive effect on our play but neither are really at the level that we need. This is where we should seek significant market help. World class quality at CM would be a cure to many of our ills. Not too sure who is available at this point.

Cazorla is not a strong defender and not a strong medium to long passer. His sole value is in connecting short passes. We need more quality at his position. I’d rather start Ramsey here if I had to choose between the two, as he does more on the field.

Giroud is a beast. I love his man-up approach to the game. We need this. Unfortunately, he is a step or two slower in all aspects of the game than Arsenal require. We need to go outslde to find a better fit, but he deserves to be the starter since we do not have better. Walcott is not a 9! I’m not sure why anyone thinks that he is. Don’t buy into it. Regardless, forward quality is difficult to find in this market as teams aren’t going to simply give us their best forwards. We’ll need to pry away a forward by making offers that clubs can’t resist. Wenger must realize that we are not in a great negotiating position and bite the bullet if we want to win a title.

  77. All things aside, i thought it was a very interesting and entertaining game.

    However i had some issues.

Giroud is not quite that mobile, so the passes between the two defenders are null and void so it limits our game plan, giroud needs to add more shooting to his game from outside the box, (he actually does have a powerful shot).

Ozil when not making great passes will always disappoint, he does not offer a goal threat, which will only allows the defenders to sit off and wait for him to try and pass to the forward runners( for such a talented player how much fouls does he get us in dangerous areas)

Ramsay is a good Box to Box midfielder, however he congest our game too often all the short pass looks great but dont actual moves us from in front the opposition, if all our opponents is as discipline as liverpool we will have a hard time getting 3 points, with ramsay wide.

Conquelin does everything asked of him in the position, but yet he is always the first change or second change, when it was clear that ozil was not needed we needed to change formation to two forwards, ozil can not offer us that at the moment, a sanchez beside a giroud, with ox and walcott wide in the last 10 minutes would have created more havoc in the liverpool defensive area

    1. I agree with a lot of what you say. The thing that strikes me is that when OX comes in, chances are created. With Ramsey on the wings we don’t created as many chances. Also, the attack is slowed down. Even with all of the nifty one touch passes and such, we don’t create shots on goal in the numbers we need. According to the stats Arsenal had 5 shots on goal and Liverpool had 8 shots on goal. With all of the possession, we only got 5 shots on goal. Ramsey is a good player, but not out wide, and width is needed to create more real scoring chances. I think that Ramsey should replace Santi next to Coq as a starter. Then start OX at right wing. This will add juice to our attack.

I also agree that Coq does everything asked of him. But when Santi is playing next to him he has to work extra hard because Santi does not have the legs to get back and defend well. Today was an example as Coq had to run himself into the ground today and was exhausted by 75 mins in. Playing Ramsey next to Coq will help in this regard as Ramsey can go box to box.

I think these two moves would make a big improvement. And hopefully, Kos is back next week because Chambers has a long way to go to be a good central defender.
