Arsenal v Man United Match Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Manchester United make the trip to North London today to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Red Devils come into the match on the back of a crucial 1-0 away win in the first-leg of the Europa League semi-final on Thursday, a tie which is claimed to have been prioritised over today’s encounter.

Jose Mourinho has claimed that he will be fielding a weakened side today, with the second-leg of the European competition to take place in four days, but he is known for his mind games, and he will not be coming here to give up his unbeaten streak without a fight.

United bring a 25-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, while Arsenal’s last loss came only last weekend. Our side need to put the defeat against neighbours Spurs behind them, and will be hoping to re-start a run of wins which they had going into that match.

Santi Cazorla and Lucas Perez are the only players who we definitely do not have available for upcoming match, while Granit Xhaka, David Ospina and Shkodran Mustafi have all returned to training in the past few days. The Red Devils have a long list of players unavailable with injury, while last week’s red card for Marouane Fellaini sees him ruled out also.

Predicted Arsenal XI:

Cech
Gabriel  Koscielny  Mustafi
Oxlade  Elneny  Ramsey  Monreal
Ozil  Alexis
Giroud

This team has more than enough in it to beat a full strength Manchester United team, but that is not what we are up against. Today WILL see an end to their unbeaten streak, although I’m not sure it will be plain-sailing all day. Our side has been up-and-down so much this season, but today is going to go our way.

I’m going with a 3-1 victory, and for some reason I am picturing Mesut Ozil with the opening goal.

What are your predictions for the big game?

  1. Arsenal 0 – Manchester United 3

Wenger continues to believe the club is in great shape.

  2. 2-0 to United

Unfortunately I just dont see an Arsenal win even if United field a week team.

We can score goals and they will sit deeo and hit us on counter all day.

  3. That coward Ozil cant score. He will disappear as usual. Remember this is top side and not a bunch of village fatmers from eastern europe. I would go with welbeck in place of ozil and walcot in place of Latstand

  4. To include the likes of Gabriel, Ramsey and Giroud and leave out Holding, Xhaka (if he’s fit) and Welbeck, who are improvements on the OP’s suggested team is laughable. Playing Man UTD will be a difficult enough game without roping in the calamity clowns, who in my opinion shouldn’t even be on the bench.

  5. Xhaka and Elnino seemed to have formed a great partnership in our win against West Ham and all of a sudden it stopped. Now it’s Ramsey who’s been paired with Xhaka. What happened???

    1. It’s like Sanchez as soon as he was leading the league in scoring he was removed as the central striker. Guess once something works Wenger wants to find the next thing that works, and since Ramsey has never worked he keeps trying Ramsey until the day he works but Elneny and Xhaka worked right away so he moved on to something that hasn’t worked yet. 🙂

  6. That’s a terrible line-up…..its ridiculous….

I don’t care who starts just play Giroud and put Welbeck on the wing start playing crosses from the get go as am sure United will be defensive., instead of passing passing passing…

    1. So happy Giroud is not starting. Only fair he takes a break after his hattrick against Spurs.

  7. Arsenal 1 Man utd 4

as usual Sanchez overdribble and lost the ball

Ozil staring at the ball as it goes past him

Giroud missing all the chances in the world

    Cech blunders

  8. I want to see Arsenal build the attack from the back, instead of playing direct balls to a tall target man as usual. I want to see:

    Cech
    Mustafi Koscielny Holding
    Oxlade Elneny Ramsey Gibbs
    Iwobi Alexis
    Welbeck

      1. Ha! You’re so pessimistic, my friend! Rest assured, As long as they assign Welbeck, Iwobi and Sanchez as the front three, Arsenal has a good chance to beat Manchester United.

        1. You don’t get it friend, its not just the squad. It’s the tactics the managers of both teams employ.

Even if Mr. Jose Fields out feeders team, Mr. Wenger will not win him.

    1. Many players are not Messi. He is however one of the top headers in Europe. If crosses come in he will be a disruptive, dangerous force.

  9. This is when Arsenal and Wenger are at their best, nothing to play for, no one expects anything, the 4th place race is out of our control so zero pressure and a weakened oponent who played on Thursday and is distracted by a possible Europa league final.

    2-1 victory for the Arsenal

(nothing wrong with a little dreaming from time to time 😉
