Arsenal v Palace Player Ratings – Monreal and Wilshere great but Ozil top again

Arsenal played like a real team again without Alexis around, and they had the game won before Nacho Monreal went off after 34 minutes. We couldn’t keep up the momentum without him in the second half but we conserved our energy for the big fight on Wednesday against Chelsea. It feels great to actually win a game at last….

So here are my ratings for Arsenal v Crystal Palace…

Cech 6
Poor Petr has been waiting a long time for his 200th clean sheet. He was back to his best again but couldn’t do anything about Palace’s consolation goal

Bellerin 6
Great going forward but not so good defensively

Koscielny 7
Back to his best and all our defenders looked comfortable

Mustafi 6
Bet he’s glad to have Koss the Boss back. Very little problems to deal with

Monreal 8
Was only on the pitch for half an hour but had grabbed a goal and two assists by then. Is he our best striker!

Wilshere 8
Hopefully Jack and Ozil will have a few years as partners from now. Class act again

Elneny 7
One of his better performances but in his best position

Xhaka 8
At last Arsenal have found someone who can take corners and pass straight. Is he finally coming good?

Ozil 9
Man of the match as usual. Great link uup with Wilshere and a sublime backheel for Lacazette to score

Iwobi 7
A little better than his performances lately and got on the scoresheet

Lacazette 7
Great finish and should have had a penalty (again!) I think he is now ready to play 90 minutes every game

Subs:

Maitland-Niles 7
Not a lot to do after Monreal had put us out of sight, but solid as always from the youngster

  1. If we put is committed performances like that 80% of the time, we will not always find ourselves in sorry situations.
I hope the Guys start to play well, to their strengths.

  2. Xhaka 8

LOL!!! eeeerrrm! Excuse me, you know many assist Ozil has from Corners alone? not to mention free kicks?
Xhaka did good really… but you’re making it sound like we’ve not always had good corner takers.
Cazorla was good at it, Ozil is good at it.

And I’ll keep saying it, lately Iwobi has been unfairly bashed on this site. But that’s past.

in other news, I keep reading Gazidis n Mismilat or whatever Hus name is are currently in Dortmund

  3. i agree except our defense maybe rated better given they almost kept palace off the score sheet, must keep mesut, laca just needs confidence,

  4. I agree with all the ratings.
Its nice to have a break from misery
    Fantastic match innit. No complaints

The only thing disagree with is the Lacazette part towards the end “I think he is now ready to play 90 minutes every game”

He was ready ages ago. Lacazette has played fewer minutes per match than Lukaku, Kane, Aguero, Rooney, Firmino
He didn’t even start against Liverpool. Giroud was on the bench too. When Lacazette came on he scored. He didn’t start against Man City either. We played iwobi instead.

  5. 4-3-3

    __Lacazzete Aubameyang Ozil
    __Mkhitaryan Xhaka Wilshere
    Monreal Koscielny Mustafi Bellerin
    ___________Cech

    1. Good side Twig, but if you’re playing a back four we need a disciplined holding defensive midfielder, until we buy one I thought Elneny done well there against Palace. The three you picked all like to get forward. The only one you could use in your lineup I suppose is Xhaka and you can see what’s happened when his played there in recent games, not disciplined enough

  6. I did not watch the game, but whenever we have been 3 or 4 up early on (rare I know) we take it easy and give one or two away. I realise the players are conserving energy for the next game, but it would be good for the confidence to put 6 or 7 past someone. It happened to us!

  7. Re Mkhitaryan & Aubameyang, let us not forget we have a direct pipeline to Dortmund players, especially the ones that Sven Mislintat recruited . . . some people seem to forget or poo-poo the connection. Do you think the possibility of 2 Dortmund players coming to AFC is just a coincidence?

What you are all missing is the importance of a dedicated DMF in Elneny, who can also link up with passing and dribbling, while being the harrier against a break away counter-attack by the other side. There were several times that Elneny stopped counter attacks. His value is way more than Wilshere, who I think is being primed by wily Wenger a sale.

Elneny’s presence freed Xhaka to be more natural in defense and attack, and also Wilshere, whose tracking back was pathetic, not even being able to knock the ball off the area when Elneny got in the way of an attacker before going down. Wilshere’s lack of speed cost us a goal in a previous game.

With Elneny in, the return of Ramsay can mean a more aggressive box to box option without the defensive hole he normally leaves.

Stop mollycoddling useless English players and focus on the yeoman service offered by Elneny.

But the ID box at the bottom, left as in a letter.)

      There is the formation again.

Posting the same tactics and formations on different articles with their topics far way from your tactics and formations (and if they are beyond playing manager on FIFA it would be ok to read them, but this level is really childish)… but then o.k. post it one time but please not over and over.
