Arsenal will only go further down if Wenger remains in charge

People at Arsenal don’t get what this football club is about. by Konstantin Mitov

I am really depressed talking about Arsenal, I really am. It feels pointless to talk about the club as long as Arsene is here. But apart from that I really believe people don’t understand what Arsenal is about. This was a big club. And ws also an important one.

Arsenal has now become a mediocre club. And the players we will add next season will be even more depressing. Paul Merson made an excellent point. When we played at Highbury we had Lauren, Lemman, Henry, Bergkamp, Lujngberg, Pires, Vieira and so on. We have one genuine world class player in Sanchez right now, who else?

I won’t bother watching next season at all if the Frenchman remains in charge honestly. The way he devalues success is impressive really. Success is nothing. Nothing is anything here. Just Arsene, we could even rename this site, so it’d be more accurate. We need people with ambition to step up here and clean up the mess.

Arsenal looked like a fantastic job to take a few years ago or even at the start of this season, but now. Accept mediocrity. It’s all you are getting for the highest prices of tickets in world football. I would like to make a list of players who I think at least did something that deserves them to stay here.

I have to say that Alexis Sanchez, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Nacho Monreal are the only players who always give everything even if it doesn’t work out and they show enough desire required to wear the Arsenal badge. Santi Cazorla despite not getting any younger still is the best midfielder on our team and also Danny Welbeck, Lucas Perez and Rob Holding are players I’d like to have in the squad.

All the rest are players with various problems. Either it’s the usual mistakes, or lack of desire, or lack of plain ability or unfulfilled potential, I don’t care. If you don’t put in 100% for the team, you don’t deserve to be here at Arsenal, but neither the board, nor Arsene, nor the players get it.

We are where we are, because acceptance is a disease Arsene crept in to the point that it has become everything. Would David Dien allow this to happen? Would Man Utd keep Wenger if he was that bad there and won nothing for 10 years? What about Barcelona and Madrid?

This is Arsene FC and until it dies and Arsenal and that’s an important 2 letter difference at the end is reborn like a phoenix from the ash, this will be the norm. I reckon it will be another 5 to 10 years. A miracle has to happen for the deluded one to disappear from our lives.

But if you haven’t been disappointed yet, wait not longer than the Man Utd game. People may label me negative, but I am not bound by the Arsene regime and since he is allowed to let this club rot in average mediocracy, I can not care as well. He’s gotta go! Then, then and ONLY THEN, we will start going forward.

  1. Big ? to this article! Well said and that’s how a lot of us feel I think. Agreed about the players you mentioned, other than those almost all are expendable(I’d like also holding onto Kos, Bellerin, Iwobi maybe one or two more), but your point is well made.

    1. Do you get that Dein wouldn’t have bought half the trash we have in the squad now?

You do know Dein understood we needed to invest in players and he got forced out because he didn’t go along with the BS plan to boost share prices quickly before selling them but instead wanted the board to invest their own wealth.

You are aware that Gazidis came in to replace Dein?

Now there are rumors of a sporting director to manage that side of the business, I have pointed at Gazidis for YEARS now saying he isn’t good enough… If we get a SD then that is basically saying Ivan the terrible wasn’t good enough at all.

Special K may talk about Dein but I know about Arsenal politics, I have been paying attention to what has been happening off the field for many years now, I can hand on heart tell everyone that Special K is wrong.

If Dein had stayed then we would have been investing in the squad all along as that is what Dein wanted, we would have kept buying top class players, how could we get into the situation we are in now if the 1st step was a different direction?

    2. Living in the past, always talking bout Dein…..
      .
We need fresh ideas in the managerial areas, pitch, players, playing methods as well as the fans

      1. what kind of fresh ideas for the fans do you refer to? I have tried everything but am all out of ideas on how to be proud and enjoy the football season.

  2. This is what happens when you sell your club’s soul to a guy who only knows football as hand egg. The what I like to call Royal Arsenal Family all had Arsenal as a part of their legacy and then they got greedy or whatever and sold their stake to Silent Stan and now he only cares about generating revenue. He never supported the club, never grew up with it, hell he probably never watched a game in his life till he because majority stakeholder. Arsenal isn’t in his blood or soul like Bracewell-Smith, Dein, Fiszman et al. but they sold us out for the almighty dollar and this is where we are

    1. The Arsenal Royal Family, lol, I like that one, about as useless.

Silent Stan only caring about profit is so true and people who write articles like this one forget the politics of football and accuse anyone who takes that into consideration a AKB, we supporters got messed about by the old Arsenal Royal Family and was spoon fed lies and instead of standing up to it, us supporters gobbled the lies up. Now we have hindsight, I think it is easier for idiots like K to blanket blame Wenger, it is what simpletons can get their head around.

‘Special’ K talked about Dein but does he have a clue what Dein done or how he acted when he was here, did special K ever pay attention politics in football or is he repeating a name he seen real supporters know?

      1. It may not be ALL wengers fault , however he does have choices. Leave and got to PSG or speak up and say his hands are tied. I can think of 8 million reasons he won’t, hence why he gets most of the stick

        1. For me, Wenger is at fault for the way the team plays and for who plays and for the injuries. And I still find it hard to believe the board would have bought a Xhaka if Wenger was against it.

  3. Author showing he knows nothing again, should have been called John Snow.

“We are where we are, because acceptance is a disease Arsene crept in to the point that it has become everything.”

We are in this situation because the old board was greedy and set the club up to boost share prices which when sold, it was sold to someone who liked having increasing shares.

“Would David Dien allow this to happen?”
    A bowl of Stupid K….
David Dein was in regular communication with Wenger, Wenger got the type of players he wanted with Dein, we wouldn’t have a squad full of mediocre players if Dein was still here.

Deinn got forced out because he wanted to invest in the squad and found Usmanov as an investor who also had Deins vision, saying would stuff happen if he was still here is STUPID! STUPID!!!

    Why?
Do you honestly think we would have bought Perez over Lacazette? Would we have bought Welbeck when we needed a reliable CF?

    Ox gives everything… PMSL!
The biggest issue REAL supporters have with Ox is his consistency, one week hee will play great and next week he looks like Ozil on the pitch, shoulders dropped and hiding.

Stupid K doesn’t watch games so WTF is he doing talking about how our players perform, STUPID K HAS NO IDEA!

    1. This is in part true midkemma. But it will never paper over the facts that other managers do relatively more with less resources that they are given (even though Wenger no doubt has the lions share in who is signed). He picks the players in the positions he wants them to be, the formation they are in, he motivates (or otherwise) the players as well as trains them.

There are bigger problems in the foundations of AFC but the General of the men in the ground is no longer a relevant or competent fixture IMO and his going could be the beginning of a new chapter.

I’m sure if let’s say an allegro came in he would want certain assurances as a condition of his entering the equation. But for sure, the foundations are rotten and have been for many a year.

Still AFC will remain and change is the only constant. Let’s hope the core fans can help the revolution and behead the blood sicking royals that we find ourselves ruled by!

  4. Protests are good.
But you hit people like Kroenke where it hurts them.
Reduced Attendances = Less Money = Less Profts for Kroenke.
Then they will listen then he will be gone..
Who knows, he may already have made that decision..

  5. I’ve never been so depressed / disinterested in arsenal in all my 33 years ….

Even if the penny has dropped , that this squad needs major investment on a regular basis to keep pace and wenger was given money … I’m not convinced he is capable anymore of picking a player !

I look at the fast tempo , high pressing , physical sides that are closest to winning our domestic league and wonder how arsene could ever compete ?

I genuinely think he’s out of touch with modern football.

  6. This is a fact, Arsenal will not attract any good players or managers in our current situation.
Now I know a lot of people will laugh at me but Arsenal need a manager that will rebuild stability and togetherness within the players. Arsenal need a transition manager for 2-3 years to install the desire and passion back into the club before handing it over to Simeone or Allegri.
My pick would be Tony Pullis with Tony Adams.
Let’s be honest, we are going backwards with Wenger and I would love to see a passionate manager and deputy on the bench doing whatever it takes to win. It would also be interesting to see what Pullis could do with a players annual wage bill triple to what he has now (Arsenal £200mil, West Brom £65mil).

  7. Well said Konstantine. I have been a fan for over 30 years. During that time we had some great successes but it is not like we won the PL every few seasons. But always, always were we Arsenal.

This is the first time my disgust has reached the point where I know I can not watch another season of the nonsense Wenger puts out on the pitch and in the media. And it is not like I have been treated to a feast of success these last 12 years but that never mattered. AKB fans seem to think it is all about the unrealistic expectation that we want to win the PL every season. Give me a break. I just want to be proud and have a feeling everyone is trying to win and has a winners mentality. If it was about winning the PL only we would have been gone 7 years ago or so.

There was always something to hang onto, to be proud of. Best year for me personally in this barren spell was when RVP was having his best season and remained relatively injury free and scored 37 goals for us. This year I was frustrated that once again we didn’t buy a top quality striker but I was hopeful once Sanchez was given a chance and appeared on his way to his own 30+ goal season (untile Wenger removes him from the central striker spot). I was not asking for a PL title, I was asking for a serious effort becoming the once great club.

Instead, I am treated to the lame spineless efforts of the Ramsey’s and the Giroud’s and the Wenger’s.

I can not take one more season of this. It insults my intelligence when I hear the stuff Wenger is trying to seel to the fans and it hurts my heart.

  8. I’m over it. I love this club but I can’t take this anymore. I’m a passionate fan from Australia and spend about 12 hours a week following Arsenal and it hard being a fan over here with the time difference watching every game going to work with no sleep and waking up all hours off the night. I spend hours on the net reading Arsenal news, transfer news and all but if Wenger signs the new deal i don’t think I can do it anymore. Last week was the straw that broke the camels back. Gutless, spineless. My heart is not in it anymore this shit is killing me. He needs to go I don’t mind the idea off a transition manager but not Pulis. I respect his work but as arsenal fans we hate him. I do believe we need a manager that instils passion back in the team for a couple off years before we go for a Simeoni or Allegri maybe Ranieri or Benitez can do it then get Allegri and we will be a force again. We have the players in this squad to mount a challenge for the title but this man has not got it another he needs to go
    #WENGER OUT
    #NO NEW CONTRACT
    #KROENKE OUT
    #SACK THE WHOLE BOARD

  9. If Wenger still has any form of honor left in him as soon as Chelsea wins d league he should resign
