Arsenal won’t be selling Bellerin this summer

Every summer we are inundated by Arsenal transfer rumours linking Hector Bellerin with a return to Barcelona, despite the youngster signing a very long term contract just last season. Earlier this year it was even mooted that the Gunners have decided to sell the young Spaniard to boost the warchest for incoming players, and we need quite a few!

At the beginning of this season the BBC’s David Ornstein reported that Bellerin had actually asked Wenger to sell him, but now it seems that Hector has no wish to depart any more as he has told the world that he asked for the Number 2 shirt next season. Talking to team-mates Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding on the club’s official YouTube page, Bellerin said: “In the summer, I’m going to ask for the number two shirt.

“I’ve already spoken to Vic, he knows.”

He is talking about Vic Akers OBE, who has been the Arsenal kit manager since just after Wenger took charge of the club. The shirt number 2 has just become vacant since Matthieu Debuchy left this year, and the previous wearer was Abou Diaby, so I’m not sure if it is a lucky one or not!

But just the fact that Bellerin has asked about taking that shirt is clear proof that he doesn’t see himself leaving the club any time soon. So, please, no more Bellerin to Barcelona rumours this summer!

  1. Glad to hear. Not been very good the past couple of seasons but I really hope the new manager can raise his level of performance. Also needs to take some personal responsibility and improve though. He comes off as unfocused at times. That may be because there is nobody in the squad to compete for RB. But this is something that many of the players aren’t getting. They should be happy to wear the shirt every chance they get and put all their effort into improving. Bellerin is one of the players resting on his laurels and I hope he gets a wake up call next season.

    1. Yup, Bellerin is full of potentials, proven by his previous dazzling skills when he took over from Debuchy

Sadly, he is becoming like Walcott, does not have bravery to take high risks anymore

I blamed Wenger and his staffs for Walcott’s and Bellerin’s developments, because Walcott seems to be doing good at Everton. A fiercer internal competition between the players is needed at Arsenal

  2. Bellerin can become a dani alves type of fullback under a great coach like jardim.

The new coach has a huge task because he will decide who he wants to play for him and who he wants to sell.

no one is safe anymore.even wengers favourites like wilshere may get sold.

All depends on who takes over.

    1. Jardim, Enrique, Sarri, Allegri or Emery could bring the entertaining football back into Arsenal, despite their style is sometimes too open

No to boring managers like Ancelotti and Mourinho

      1. Sarri is cool but I think lack of designated smoking areas at colney might put him off

        1. I’d prefer Emery over Jardim. Emery plays beautiful stuff, Jardim is way too open, even more open than we are and they have DM’s. End to end is not gonna get us to where we want to go, and we don’t have the players to play Simeone’s game, we’ll need to find someone than can find a balance, cute with tactics, and a good motivator. He’ll need to be an accomplished sort.

  3. I’d like to keep Bellerin… I believe there are a few in the team that have major potential, so hopefully they’ll reach that under our new manager COYG

  4. The new man is gonna need to be tactically astute, Allegri is the best tactician. Pep and Klopp are trying to outscore opponents, going all jugular. Mour and maybe Simeone are going a different route. Allegri switches between systems better than his peers, he can see things and pick at it. His football is not the most eye catching, but he does what needs to be done. People go on about Simeone because of two finals, if it was someone else people might say bottler. Allegri has matched Simeone’s finals. But he does it by playing smart, not cautious sucker punch like Mourinho and Simeone. Sarri is a shout, but he’s in Pep and Klopp type, out and out forward play. Tuchel, is a poor mans Kopp. Vieira, he’d be the only ex Gunner I’d take because he wants to coach and has no quarrels about working ground up. Bergkamp doesn’t want to manage and Henry wants it handed to him like Pep got. I don’t include Rodgers, he shouldn’t even be in the running, sure Arsene is still a better man than he. Zidane, could be good, great vision as a player, and only manager to win consecutive CL titles. Enrique, the favorite, am not keen on Enrique. He is trying to become best paid manager ever. Barca sacked him because he couldn’t win the title whilst Barca had the best side with greatest midfield and worlds best goal machine. He managed at other clubs before Barca and showed his real worth. I believe he is overrated right now. Funny, Koeman isn’t on anyone’s lips no more, fans are a fallible bunch, we can just move posts until we make a point. Yet we seem so knowing/knowledgeable with what we say.
