Alexis gives Arsenal boss clear message! Stop resting him!!

If the terrible news about the Arsenal and Germany international midfielder Mesut Ozil is true and he is going to miss a few months because of a knee problem, then one of our other recent signings from La Liga may get his wish. Because the former Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed, in an Arsenal.com report, that he hates it when he does not complete the full 90 minutes of a game.

The Chile international just wants to play and because of his fitness and ability, there is no reason why he shouldn’t, especially if Ozil is not going to be available until sometime around the new year. I’m not really sure why Arsene Wenger has not started and finished with Alexis in every game, because his award for Arsenal Player of the Month is no less than he deserves, but if the manager thought he was doing the right thing and easing him into the Premier League, Alexis has issued him with a clear message that he does not need or want any cotton wool treatment.

Regular playing time or the lack of it was one of the main reasons for the Chilean striker to want to leave Barcelona in the first place and we have rarely seen a player from abroad settle so quicjly into English football. Not only has he settled, but Alexis also claims that he loves the rough and tumble of English football, as long as he is not watching it from the sidelines.

Senor Sanchez said, “Compared to the other leagues I’ve played in, I think this is the hardest and I like it a lot, I really do.

“Before I signed, people had told me about how Arsenal were a big club with lots of quality players. Now I’m here I look at all the players during training and realise just what fantastic quality they all have.

“I can run and cut inside on my left foot, but any position is good for me as long as I’m playing football because I hate being on the bench. If you take me off it’s like you’re taking the ball off me.

“I want to win everything. Looking at the coaches and players we have, with a winning attitude and ambition, we can win absolutely anything.”

The news about Ozil’s injury is not good, obviously, but that is why Arsenal have a big squad after all. And the timing is pretty favourable for us as well, because with Theo Walcott close to a comeback, Alexis can occupy the left forward position and Cazorla, Rosicky and Wilshere can fight for the number 10 role.

So Arsene, listen to the man and just let Alexis play will you?

  1. The last thing Wenger should do is piss off his top players. If Sanchez wants to play let him. Rest him on FA Cup matches.

    1. @fred cowardly
F**k it. Play him in those matches as well. Dude is runnin on some high octane sh*t. Hoping that it rubs off on the rest of our players…

    2. Aghh what, thought he was going on about campbell then, Alexis, you’re getting games time bro, Wenger please don’t pis$ the best we have.
Ozil injury means Campbell must play though right ?!?!?

    3. Have to laugh at the logic of this. Players getting injured because of being overplayed and not being rotated, and then suggesting we do the same to more of our players.

  2. This will work until Ozil comes back.

    ………………………..Welbeck
    Sanchez(LW)….Cazorla(CAM)…Walcott/Ox(RW)

  3. We have over 11 players out. The stupidest thing Wenger could do at this point is listen to Sanchez and over play him, no matter how enthusiastic he is. Wilshere has a very similar attitude, playing with injuries and not saying when he’s hurt…He ended up missing 18 months.

    1. @Toni balle
Wilsheres work rate is next to nil. He wants to play every match but only contributes max 10/15 good minutes when he’s out there. He needs to ditch the “coffin nails” it’s startin to show in his game…

      1. @NY Gunner ‘Wilsheres work rate is next to nil’ clearly thats the problem of watching Arsenal matches wen already drunk. in fact i doubt that you watch them at all.

  4. For anyone bashing Ozil on this site you’re missing the bigger picture. Why the f*ck was he even playing if he had ligament damage??? We’re suppose to have the ex-german national team doctor and how is it that he missed the injury and it was left to national team doctors to diagnose?? All Wenger’s fault. To my knowledge, I don’t think Ozil was ever taken out of a match once it started this season. He’ll bench cazorla, sanchez, wilshere, rambo, ANYONE but Ozil. Doesn’t matter what form he’s in. Already ran him into the ground in my opinion. I’m actually a huge Ozil fan, so I hope that he can take this recovery time to get his best form back. But look at all the injuries we’ve sustained this season already. Complete joke. Revamp the whole system, and you can start with Wenger.

    1. While I agree that we need a revamp of the whole structure, the starting point is the Board and not Wenger. The Board’s ambition is merely being played out by Wenger. They have only found a coach who is ready to execute their ambition in Wenger. Get a new coach and he will soon be frustrated by the same Board’s ambition. Regarding Ozil, I read elsewhere that the Arsenal Management actually asked the German FA to do a proper scan on Ozil before fielding him. If this is true, it is possible Ozil picked up the in jury in the last match. Ozil had more than a month off after the world cup so i do not think that the number of matches he has played so far this season is too much to run a professional player aground.

    2. A few points-

      1. No one knows if he played on knowing the injury or it happened during the match

      2. The physio will only know when the player tells him. Ozil is under immense pressure and wants to play to make his point. He would not want to get benched!

      3. Wenger firmly believes in backing Ozil and helping him get his form back. Sometimes big players like him need some special treatment and wenger is giving him that

      4. Irrespective of what people may think, the idea is to build the team around Ozil. He is the main man as of now- you cannot keep substituting the main man

      5. The new german doctor and his team will probably need a season like everyone else to settle down. Immediate results cannot be expected!

Personally i dont think the ozil adventure is working- unfortunate but true; would still have really liked him to play this season as much as possible and prove his worth before the club took a final decision on him during the summer. I would rather offer Ozil to Dortmund and get Reus and play him @CAM

  5. You lots talk a lot of bollocks.i read ozil sustained the injury during but not before the chelsea match.i dont know where this immature opinion that wenger is the cause or that our new fitness coach is incompetent is coming from.futbol is a contact sport and as such injuries are bound to happen but to now pin it on wenger or the fitness coach is ridiculous. Most of the whinning defending champions we have on this site would support sanchez comment concerning play time but when he gets burnt out, they stupidly label any1 whose name comes first into their mosquito brain as the culprit.

I pray there wont be more injuries during and after this intl break

  7. What struck me in Alexis statement is this “I want to win everything. Looking at the coaches and players we have, with a winning attitude and ambition, we can win absolutely anything.”
With a winning attitude and ambition. I’m inclined to think although Alexis knows that there’s quality in the squad, he doesn’t think the players have a winning attitude. And he would be spot on if he thought like that. We have shown our brilliance in flashes. If we can make the neccessary defensive reinforcements and adopt the kind of attitude we show against city at the emirates, i dont see why we cant win things.I just hope Alexis’ work rate and winning mentality can rub off the rest.

  8. Because Ozil was played on the wings in most games wouldn’t make us miss him, I hope he gets better soon.

  9. Sanchez also talked about ambition… most of our players are not ambitious. They play to have fun which is not a bad thing on its own. This is why we beat weaker teams and are pounded by serious sides. Drive and ambition will make any team difficult to beat.

  10. Sanchez also said he would prefer to play on the left. I think his wish is about to be realized when Walcott is back. This is how we should line up after the break.
    Ospina(if available)
    Gibbs Mert Boss Calum/Hector
    Flamini
    Sanchez Wilshire Cazorla OX
    Welbeck
Bench: Szczensy, Monreal, Diaby, Walcott, Arteta, Campbell.
