Arsenal’s away form gives Middlesbrough boss confidence

Middlesbrough may be without a League win since the middle of December, but they have been securing many home draws and are desperate to finally get a win under their belts as they try to claw their way out of the relegation zone. They are hopeful that they can manage that against Arsenal tomorrow as the Gunners have lost their last 4 away games, and have conceded three goals in each one.

This gives the Boro boss Steve Agnew confidence that his team can finally get their first three points of the year. “They’re in a difficult moment, certainly away from home, but they have top quality players throughout the team.” Agnew said on the official MFC website. “Arsenal have conceded goals, particularly away from home in recent weeks, and that gives us confidence.

“We have no doubt it will be a really difficult game, but we’ll continue to prepare and we’re looking forward to it.”

“It’s a massive game and we need to win and we need the three points.

“We need to start scoring goals, we’re capable and we have the players.

“Our movement and ability to create has been evident – we just need to make sure when the chance comes along we take it.

“Any game under the lights at the Riverside is exciting. The crowd will be as vibrant as ever and it’s a really exciting fixture.”

The home crowd could be important, and if the few Arsenal fans that are there start showing displeasure if we don’t start scoring early, it could be another uncomfortable afternoon for Arsene Wenger. It is a fact that any team fighting relegation becomes very dangerous at this point in the season, but surely Wenger can get the Gunners up for a fight. We need the points just as much as Middlesbrough!

  1. Boro will win and seal the fate…

We need a full overhaul revamp of players, manager and coaching staff and all

  2. Well everyone knows how Arsene will get the team to play so if Middlesbrough play the same style as West Brom and Palace then expect another lose and hopefully Wengers final chance.

  3. Wenger’s had his over 1,000 chances….
    He’s failed us all…….
    .

I’m not giving him anymore benefit of the doubt!

  4. What have We become as a team and also as a Club.. and We got nobody to blame for it.. We are having this crisis period and We need to get out of it as soon as possible.. Never thought this season was going to go from good to bad.. from bad to worse.. and now it’s Worse to “What the hell!”

  5. Tricky one. I assume Wenger will go with his predictable ‘Plan A’ (attack: 4-2-3-1), but this will be fairly muted due to lack of confidence and players not seeming to work hard and intelligently run into space as well as run to create space (all the ‘top’ teams do this). However, ‘boro will likely play 4-4-2 and presumably hit arsenal on the counter. My concern is the FA cup game vs. City. Our system suits the way city play and I fancy us to go through if everyone turns up and works hard within the system. The problem will be the final when we’re up against a more tactically acute team who know their roles. I have a feeling we’ll be drawn against Spurs and humiliated. Thus, i’d rather lose 2-1 to city in the semi and go out there.
