Arsenal’s Iwobi hoping ‘great’ Arsene Wenger signs new deal

Alex Iwobi has moved to praise current manager Arsene Wenger amidst strong pressure for him to leave.

The Nigerian is the latest young player to emerge from the academy into a first-team regular, and the manager’s influence in his progression would clearly emphasise his importance at Arsenal.

Wenger has always had a knack for promoting youth into the first team over the years, a skill each of the top sides have overly struggled with since Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United.

Iwobi has now come out in the press to praise his under-fire boss, amidst strong calls and protests for his exit, to state his intention to play under Wenger beyond this summer.

He said: “He’s a great man, in my opinion. I’d like him to stay.

“He’s always helped me and developed me as player.

“I don’t think it’s fair the way everybody criticises him. It’s very unfair considering what he’s done.

“He’s always achieved fourth place, been in the Champions League and been up there with the title contenders.”

The Nigerian international was then asked about his thoughts on the Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez situation, and he is of course hoping the duo will stay on at the club also.

“As you can see from stats, goals and chances they create they are key players in our team,” said Iwobi.

“Everything offensively almost goes through them. Even though we have other players they are world-class players.

“For the club it’d be great for them to stay, but at the end of the day it’s their decisions.”

Does Iwobi sound convinced that one of or both Ozil and Alexis will leave? Does he have to praise Wenger or does he believe he is best for the club?

  1. Iwobi is getting too much game time under Wenger, so he’s obviously going to be kissing his ass. ?

    1. Haha shame on this players. A new manager and most of them would not even be on the team sheet

  2. Its sad when the guys defending wenger always come down to”what he has done for the club ” hahaha shame on all of them. Shame on you iwobi. I can confirm now that you will always be average you are afraid to move from ur comfort zone

  3. I would call both Iwobi and Wenger and ask them some burning questions:
    1. Based on the past record of 10 years. Tell me why you should not be sacked?
    2. The biggest reason you signing this extension is dough. 20 million pounds. Is that not so?
    3. Why did you bench Sanchez in the Pool game?
    4. Why sign Xhaka when Kante was cheap…why?
    5. What is Steve Bould’s job apart from chewing gums throughout?
    6. Why do you sign crocked players in January transfer?
    7. Why are you so passive in your substitutes?
    8. What is wrong between Ozil and Giroud?
    9. Why do you make your son Ramsey play every game?
10.Why do you lie? Example you never saw the plane banner. Really?
    11. Do you ever visit the justarsenal.com?
    12. Why did you miss out on Draxler?

    1. no, arsenal have done a lot for wenger. he was plucked from obscurity. and whatever he did he was more than handsomely paid. his legacy at arsenal will have cost the club millions and millions of pounds. everybody laughed at jose when he called him the specialist in failure. who is laughing now .

  4. Wenger played Iwobi and Ramsey too much

In the PL, ive been wanting to see Lucas on the Left, Theo on the Right and Alexis up front. But wenger kept on refusing to start Lucas and sometimes played Giroud up front when Alexis was better up front.

    Why did he sign Lucas?

Alexis already has 18 PL goals this season and should gey 20+
Alexis wont do that on the left because its more tiring there and he has to defend more
    Cf Is perfect for Alexis
Giroud should come off the bench as SuperSub.
