It’s not just a surprise to see that Wenger obviously doesn’t expect to see Cazorla this year, but I am even more surprised that Chuba Akpom and Matthieu Debuchy as given places. When are they ever going to play?

This means Cazorla will only come back after January, if he is fit to play at that time. I think they will Wilshere and Coquelin more chances.
Debuchy would be a good competitor for Bellerin, if he is fit. Akpom has not got his chances yet, so he has to compete with the other English forwards.

We had better start benching Xhaka.I hate it how people feel he always deserves to be on the team sheet 100%.Get him out and bring Wilshere who is better and more intelligent.Given a run of games Wilshere can do wonders but for injury.
We should also bench Ramsey for a while and use Elneny who is an underrated player.The one thing people don’t understand about Elneny is that he opens up himself such that there’s another player near him so he’s always able to keep things simple.
Wenger must stop constantly playing players who are out of form.I just don’t get what he seeks to achieve.

I know the pessimism hasnt left you guys but lets look at the facts (they arent positive but not as negative as we fans think) debuchy for all his moaning is a good RB and we have great cover for LB and RB, i for one am happy that we have kept debuchy after selling/loaning ox and carl, and our cbs arent that bad in a 4 back system, and our midfielders arent that bad as we think in a 4231/433 and our forwards are superb and we have kept sanchez and özil (i know most of you dont like özil) and we have to remember that just last year we bought xhaka a cm and mustafi a cb
Ramsey has only ever had ONE good season. He’s is decent for Wales, but shocking for us.
Xhaka has been very poor since arriving.
Coquelin is decent, but not top quality.
Elneny is decent, but not top quality.
Santi is WC, but may not see him this season.
Wilshere is decent, but not top quality.
Ozil goes missing all the time, plays well for Germany, doesn’t turn up for Arsenal.
Our midfield is not that good, and they’re given zero tactics from the manager, which makes them look even worse!
Our CB’s are awful in a back 4 system, which is why Wenger switched to a back 3.

If your CB’s are awful in a 4 back system then they’ll be exposed as well in a 3 back system no matter what happens.You’re just delaying the time for them to get exposed and deceiving yourself.Our problem was not about formation.It was about tactics yet no one saw this and thought 3-4-3 was our saviour.Look at our starting CB’s in 4 back:Koscielny and Mustafi who are all quality.The midfield is the problem.It’s not the 3 back or 4 back.In 3 back also our players are not suited for that formation hence I advice Wenger to switch back before it’s too late.We need to revert to 4 back and play the right players in the centre.We needed a DM to make our midfield stable but we didn’t so we have to make do with what we have.
Our 3 back is just so wrong.We don’t have natural wingbacks even in this formation.It also seems to me that lots of people here believe if you’re good at right or left fullback then automatically you’re good at RWB/LWB which quite frankly is untrue.That’s why Oxlade Chamberlain can be considered at RWB but not right back.At RWB or LWB you’re asking too much in terms of attack from Bellerin and Kolasinac.A proper wing back can be viewed as a more defensive winger which quite frankly none of them are and they don’t possess the flexibility too to play that way.Our midfielders are also not disciplined enough because in 3 back there’s a huge gap in the centre of the field that must be covered by our CM’s so indiscipline only means disaster.We also have Ozil who looks like he’s playing at RW in 3 back.In that we’re limiting his impact because Ozil takes on his man because he wants to not because he likes to.You can’t play such players at the wing.He’s a proper No. 10 who likes to be given freedom.That’s why Ozil plays likes he’s lazy on the ball and stuff.It’s because he wants to be free and for that you need to put him at No. 10.We need to change asap.Our team is just too rigid and our players are not that flexible so we need to revert back quickly.
I actually agree with a lot you have said. It is more to do with the tactics than the formation, but the problem is Wenger will NEVER change his tactics, so we might as stick with the 3-4-3, because every manager knows exactly how to set up against the old 4-2-3-1 formation.
4 at the back becomes 2 at the back when we get hit on the counter because of the wing-backs and no DM, so at least with 3 at the back, you have 3 to deal with counters, as the wing-backs are now separate from the back line within the 3-4-3. I’d rather have 3 defending than 2.
The other major reason we’ve looked so bad at the back is because of personal. Wenger’s barely been using actual CB’s, and has had so many out of position. Against Stoke he started only ONE CB, when he had FOUR available. After about 65 mins against Leicester, we had NO CB’s at all! At the end of the day, we’re screwed as long as Wenger is calling the shots.
I get your point.But it won’t help us if we’re playing in 3 back and some of our players are being played out of position.Our success of 3 back last season was more of mentality than due to the formation.The formation seemed to renew the mind of players and they started playing better.Little did people realize that we always go back to our old ways only to put up a strong surge in the end.We’ll do well for a while when we go back to 4 back because our players will again change their mentality then after some time we’ll go back to our old ways.
We need this 4 back to change the players’ mentality and to make them play in their right positions.

who all I care Granit has no movement in the midfield. he is presently a problem to this team.put him on the bench.his looping passes are easily cut out by opponents.
We have huge huge huge problems in the middle because it is not working no matter whatever player combination we play bar Cazorla. Elneny; Xhaka; Ramsey and in some way Coquelin are 4 players that are too similar in style. We really needed a ball playing central midfielder to fill in Cazorla’s boots and we did not get one. I don’t believe Lemar would have solved that problem either but it would be a huge upgrade to Ramsey, Wilshere and Elneny.
After the window closed I was looking at the team and wondered how were ever gonna play successful with the new formation. I can see how we can play a successful 433 but never 343.. 433 we all know we’re too predictable and will get hammered this season. Think Arsenal biggest mistake this transfer window is not adding the players needed for 343
I am annoyed that Nelson and Nketiah are not in the 25 man senior squad.
We are amazed that Mbappe is only 18 and playing so maturely, but thats because monaco gave him the chance. Nelson is without doubt up there talent wise and needs the chance as he showed in preseason and in every reserve game so far. Nketiah will become an Eduardoesc striker, clinical as hell and also needs a chance as he showed in every game for reserves and for England scoring a hatrick. Please Wenger.
You don’t include ANY players under 21 in the senior squad list. They can play but don’t count in the squad numbers…
But to be honest, at 17 he is probably too young to be risked until he bulks up a bit.

Xhaka played like crap last season but showed his class in the end. This season he started like he forgot in which team he’s playing. Let’s just hope he can get his passing up to 80% and play with someone else (NOT Ramsey). Knowing AW he will keep playing him.
Always negative reasoning from Wenger. If Santi Cazorla comes back in the January transfer window, then Wenger will say he does not need to buy anyone. He knew he would not get Lemar. Arsenal will not buy because Kroenke is fighting a legal battle with the City of Louis suing him and the NFL. Also he is building a 2.6 billon complex to house his LA Rams and the coming Olympics. He will keep Arsenal’s funds back in the pot in case he needs them for his American legal problems and his LA Rams/Olympic project. He just will hold it back.

You can then shuffle down if Giroud comes on and you are chasing the game. So Giroud will be on the tip of the diamond, Lacazette moving back to ozil position. Ozil moving down for one of the CM/DM who will get subbed for Giroud in the first place.
Main thing is to get a recognised and stable back 3 or 4 if he changes formation and make sure they play regularly, so they can build a partnership.
On paper this looks stronger then every combination I could make with 343..
