Arsenal’s season so far – One good game out of FIVE – Must improve!

Arsenal are not amongst Europe’s Elite. Truth be told By Galen

PSG vs Arsenal was the big game we were all waiting for. It was the game that was going to tell us what our true level is. To sum it up, a friend of mine said PSG were doing the Arsenal of old. Playing beautiful football and missing chances. Apart from the Watford game we have been poor all season. I have seen loads of Arsenal teams and this is one of the worst so far.

I have seen the Viera – Petit, Cesc – Flamini, Song – Wilshere Cesc – Nasri, Arteta – Ramsey, etc. The present midfield of Ozil, Cazorla and Coquelin is not working. I have had enough of it. We have tried it with Southampton and PSG and its simply not working. Spurs were the first to expose that midield. All you need to do is apply pressure and and press us, we are clueless. Every team that shows us no respect and press us, exposes us. Ozil and Cazorla barely do enough defensive work. Ozil just can’t be bothered really.

To whom more is given , more is expected. Ozil is a world class player, but in big games he goes missing time and time again. How can such a top player have two such terrible games vs Southampton and PSG and nobody dares to crticise him. No matter how bad Ozil plays he will just start the next game. Ozil needs to stand up and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Look at what David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are doing for Manchester City? Ozil just appears, and disappears for another 15 mins, then he appears again with an assist. I need more fight from him, more control from him. Apart from that famous Napoli game and the UNITED game at home last season, I can’t remember a big game were he took it by the scruff of the neck.

Mustafi and Koscielny is not working. At least they have an excuse of training only for about one week together, so I hope with more games they get better and better.

Ox has made zero progress since he moved to Arsenal. He would struggle to start for the under 21’s. I think kids like Jeff and Iwobi are already better than him. How Can you justify loaning Joel Campbell and Wilshere and keeping the OX? Madness really. With Theo and Ramsey injured you think Ox will take his chance? Well we have no excuse if Ramsey plays as right wing because so far the others have not been good.

Sanchez as striker? Is Wenger trying to prove to the world that he is right and we are all wrong? Sanchez is not a striker, he never was and never will be? Sanchez needs freedom either on the wings or as a number 10 or in a 4-4-2 as a second striker.

Credit were it’s due, Ospina was different class last night. That’s what I expect from squad players, to put pressure on the so call unshakeable players.

The curious case of Granit Xhaka? How can you play so well vs Watford then you are dropped for the next 2 games? Why did we spend £30+ million on a midfielder if he would just be benched? We might as well have kept the money and got ourselves a striker with that money. I really don’t understand what is going on.

Our games so far:

Arsenal vs Liverpool – we were not good enough. deserved to be beaten.

Leicester vs Arsenal – We created nothing going forward and Koscielny was the difference.

Watford vs Arsenal – That was a solid performance and I expected us to build on that.

Arsenal vs Southampton – We were lucky. We did nothing to deserve the 3 points. Generous penalty .

PSG vs Arsenal. We were completely outplayed. How we got a point is a miracle. Judging by this game we are far below the top clubs in Europe. There is so much work to do. So far it’s really is not looking good.

They say good teams get points when they are not playing well. I really hope that is the case for Arsenal cause right now we are plain boring. Before we were not winning trophies but with Cesc – Song – Jack – Nasri we could watch Magic. The present team is just dull. It has zero authority or entertainment. Its just like a normal premier league team, like Stoke, Everton, Southampton, etc

I hope we build on today’s result. Bring on Hull.

  1. as long as we have the stubborn at the boss we are going from bad to worse. one how on earth he plays the ox when everyone was expecting that he would have been sold. 2. colquen instead of xhaka ha ha spending all that money to keep him benched. 3. who told mr. stubborn that alexis is a centre forward? 4. I think that cazorla is past his best, he looked tired for me and two matches inspace of 3 days was too much for him. 5. ozil is an enigma. as you wrote is he tired or just he wants to leave the club? 6. mustafi is a good player but he needs more matches. 7. finally I think that monreal is out of form and I prefer gibbs. 8. maybe to say everything that goal after just a few seconds made the difference in the team performance. 9. we must thank ospina who should be the no. 1, not that cech is not good but his reflexes are not that good. 10. if it was not for cavani we would have lost by 3 or more goals. – always a gooner

    1. I’m with Fatboy Gooney – A balanced view is too much to ask for I suppose? Seriously Dude, how the hell do you even manage to get out of bed in the mornings with that sort of negativity? Urrgggh, I feel like slitting my own throat now. C’mon Fatboy let’s go for a pint.

        1. Its not negavity , its reality! Not going to win the league or CL with no WC striker upfront coupled with Wenger’s team selection, tactics and coaching. Its been happening for well over past 10 yrs and this year is no different. Wake and face reality…FA Cip or League is our best hope. Pep Mo Conti Koeman Klopp are operating at much higher level than has been Stubborn old fool Wenger. PS truth is hard accept for fans once they are hooked on Wengers delusion. Red if u agree.

          1. I agree our dreams of a CL title are unlikely to be realised this year and I’m not against a realistic evaluation of the situation, it’s just that the article above offers next to nothing that’s positive or balanced and that’s not a fair reflation of where the club are 5 games into this new season. The fact is that Leicester have done exactly what you say can not be done, that is to win the Prem with a recognised world class striker. I’m not saying we’re going to win the Prem this year or that all’s well and in wenger we trust…. etc etc, but I don’t believe that everything is doom and gloom either. 5 Games in, game-on I say. COYG!

          2. Mate, everyone on here knows me as being a ( apart from the obvious swear words) ‘Moaner’ ?
And I can’t understand the reaction from some of the fan’s on here after the PSG game, You would think that we just got hammered and to be honest if there was any justice we should have of got completely smashed and for that reason I’m happy with the point we gained away to the best team in France.
Some people are acting as if its the first time they have seen Wenger’s team selection and non existent tactics/ game plan. All he does is pick the team and formation and lets the players do the rest. Even Ian Wright made a statement today about how Wenger doesn’t say a word during the first ten minutes in the dressing room at half-time… It seems as if nothing has changed since then.

The truth is, I’m not expecting us to Win a major trophy
(Premier league, Champions league) until Wenger has packed his bags and long gone and in the mean time, I’m content when we don’t lose. ?

  2. Cavani missed LOADS of chances yesterday… but his movement was an absolute joy to watch. So fluid, quick and elusive. Just the way a proper no. 9 should be. I think Wenger needs to make Giroud, Perez, Sanchez and anyone that Wenger decides throws up front, a video of his movements yesterday (minus the the parts where he was meant to be scoring of course).

  3. Well, you can look at it as not good enough or you can look at it as we finally have a squad strong enough to go on an unbeaten run despite playing poorly. I have no doubt once we start hitting form we will be almost unbeatable.

  4. We might not be playing well, the beautiful game of ours has disappeared along with Ozil and Ospina is suddenly our saviour. Well what do you know! the boss bought new players for millions and we’re still not happy, what a surprise!

  5. The writer of this article is a joker! ? and so are the Lemon headed Lemmings that agree with him ??
You guys moan when Arsenal play entertaining football without getting the right results and then You moan again when we get the right results because the performance was dull. ? Your expectations are clearly way above Arsenal fc’s Standards, if you’re looking for bragging rights then maybe you should Jog on off to Barcelona, Real Madrid or B.Munich. ?

I have also seen many Arsenal teams where we had players like willy young and david price in defence lol ?
    so what? ? ?

        1. Hahaha And don’t forget the Cartman profile lol ?
Isn’t it great to be mysterious ?
Laughing is the best remedie for remaining youthful ?

      1. Hahaha ? Sshh!.. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m actually older than Peter Pan ? and a very childish @#@# like him too.??

    1. @FBG
Lol that am a joke, should we get beaten by 6 goals or 8 -2 before we complain? So far the midfield isn’t working , and we are not compact. Teams are creating so many chances , Barcelona would hv scored 7 of we played them yesterday.

Ozil should be doing better. What is wrong with me pointing out that the midfield is not working. Are we all blind?

We loaned Campbell and wilshere then we played ox? Really
I hope we do better. I am happy with the results , but I believe the team can do better. The potential is there. Don’t tell me ozil cazorla Sanchez n the rest can’t play better.

      1. Hahaha ? Hey, no hard feelings Galen. ?
I’m just stating my opinion like you were yours.
At the end of the day it’s always the results that count ?
I’m not exactly a fan of Wenger’s delusional way’s but in all the while that we are not losing, I am content with that. Hence you see me moaning at bad results rather than the actual performance of the team.
I have accepted that Arsenal fc is not as good as we where once lead to believe (Invincibles) and that things won’t move forward to the next level until major changes are made, most importantly with the management and coaching of the team.

    2. I’ve seen Stepanov, Cygan, Senderos and Sylvestre.

Playing badly and getting results is the stuff of champions……………

      Up the Gunners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Our passing was atrocious the boys could not get their crisp passing together the front line was weak the game improved after the substitution we were lucky Ospina was on form else we would be looking at a hammering

  7. Its weird that xhaka played well against Watford BUT
did not play either S’Hampton or PSG considering they were 3 days apart
We are spoilt for choice at the back of midfield but playing Coquelin
twice with 3 days apart was silly
When you have Xhaka, Coquelin, Cazorla, Eleney and Ramsey there is no excuse to
use Coquelin and Cazorla twice within 4 days
That’s asking for trouble (injury wise)

Also, I can’t get my head around the fact that we started OX while Giroud and Perez were on the bench. Against PSG!!! Wenger started OX both against Southampton and PSG

If Wenger starts Ox again against Hull, he’s nuts

  8. This season we are playing like we got a new manager who brought in so many different players that they don’t understand each other. I don’t know if Wenger talks to his team before any match,I don’t think he even uses any tactics,he doesn’t even assign any player a particular role, our players don’t track back, they don’t slide when a shot wants to be taken, they are easily bullied,he acts like he just submits the team sheet and goes to the bench to sit down. Our play has been poor except the first 45mins of watford game. Have you ever seen Wenger shouting instructions from the touch line? If he can’t do it himself,he can at least tell Steve to deliver his message. Wenger is seriously damaging the morale of these players. Too poor for the oldest serving coach in the world
