Arsenal’s secret striker!

All summer Arsenal fans were crying out for Arsene Wenger to splash the cash on a new striker, with Olivier Giroud proving on more than one occasion that he just isn’t up to the mark. The Gunners eventually signed Lucas Perez towards the end of the transfer window and although we are yet to see much of the Spaniard, we actually have another frontman that nobody knows about!

When Arsenal signed Shkodran Mustafi alongside Lucas Perez, what many didn’t know is that Mustafi used to actually be a striker himself. There we are Wenger, you may have found your man to put up top!

The German international defender revealed that he actually started his career as a striker, before he was gradually edged all the way back to defence. Perhaps he isn’t such a great option up front then Arsene! Mustafi revealed his past by saying: ‘First of all, I’m happy now because otherwise I don’t know if I would be here. But when I started, I started as a striker. When I was only 14, I signed for Hamburg and slowly went all the way back to the defence.

I played in front of the defence for a few games and then in the end I ended up being a central defender and then I got a call up for the national team, for the under-15s at this time, and then it became my position.’

So whilst Arsenal may now have another option up front with Lucas Perez, if he alongside Giroud doesn’t cut it, then at least Arsene Wenger could give Mustafi a shot up front. Whilst this is obviously a joke, at least Arsenal fans can be satisfied that Arsene Wenger finally saw that the team needed another striker alongside Olivier Giroud. Hopefully Lucas Perez works his way into the team and starts bagging some goals for the Gunners in the coming games!

that’s his fault for being average. And Wenger’s fault for signing zero top strikers since RVP.

I thought you were gonna mention something about Nketiah. 28 in 31, I’ve read worse from very promising youngsters. Wonder what Rashfords were like before they took a shot in the dark.
