Arsenal’s sloppy shooting to cost Ozil the EPL record?

The Arsenal and Germany international star Mesut Ozil created another six chances for the Gunners in the big match against Leicester City and he could have been forgiven for thinking that 60 would not have been enough to get him another assist to add to the 16 he had already made in the Premier League this season.

Who would have thought that our not exactly prolific forward Danny Welbeck would have been the one to bag Ozil his 17th, especially after only getting 10 minutes after 10 months out with injury? But in order to set a new Premier League record of 21 in one season, the attacking midfielder needs another four and if our strikers and other outfield players continue to spurn chances the way we have been seeing then he might just fall short.

It might seem unlikely but the same thing happened to Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea last season after he got very close to the 20 of Thierry Henry but then they dried up and he came up short. It would be a real shame if Ozil does not get at least 21 this time but after adding just one in the last four games despite creating 19 good chances, it could happen.

With recent Arsenal transfer rumours suggesting that the German has yet to agree to sign a contract extension, will Arsene Wenger need to sign a new striker to persuade Ozil to stay and not see all these chances go to waste? Or will the likes of Alexis, Giroud and Walcott sharpen up and get him the EPL record to go with his nickname of king of the assist?

Our strikers need to definitely. Not just because of Ozil’s record but in order to win the PL.
They really have to work very very hard in training. If our finishing is improved we can beat any body. In almost every match we lost or dropped points, there were minimum one golden chance missed. I can remember our 1-0 lost to Chelsea where Sanchez missed a very easy chance after mistake from their defender, West Brom Game Cazorla missed a penalty, home game against spurs Giroud missed many to win the game for us. If some one counts , i am really sure that the glorious opportunity lost will touch 15 goal. Jut imagine if our strikers would have added those finishing touch in thier ranks apart from good team play, where we would have been now
Its not late at all, if Sanchez and Giroud discovers their form, I am sure we will win the league

Nice, even-headed, balanced argument on the state of Arsenal strikers. Something you don’t see too often, hats off to you.

Well said bro, especially the part you said “not just for ozil’s record”….
As I was reading the article,it seems to me the writer is more concerned about Ozil’s record than winning the title..
The title should have been”Arsenal’s sloppy shooting to cost us the league”?
If our strikers scores from the chances Ozil creates then we kill two birds with a stone..we win the league and Ozil sets a new record of assists.coyg! We can do this!

I think Arsenal attackers of, Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck and Sanchez MUST brazen up to sharpen up to up their conversion goals ratio of Ozil assists considerable, if at all Ozil is to surpassed the 20 assists of all time Gunners record of Thierry O’henry.

Nearly all of the hard work and intelligent assists of Ozil to the Gunners front linenners have all gone to the gallery. Save just a meager of them that had been converted so far. There are still 12 League, some FA Cup and Ucl games to be played for the downturn conversion ratio of Ozil’s assists to be up by the Gunners’ strikers which can make Arsenal to beat Barca at the Ems, Man Utd at Old traford to make Arsenal finish their February match schedule on the high to stay in contention for the title and the Ucl. And serves as a confidence booster for them going into their crucial title decider game against Tottenham HS on the 5th of Match.

Alexis and giroud can’t mix together.
Arsene must find a quick solution to get the goals flowing or simply bench one of them who is simply giroud as it’s hard to bench alexis

Elneny will just be saying to himself “I can do better than this Ramsey guy that keeps missing chances upon chances”..Am sure Elneny would have scored one the numerous chances Ramsey had…anyway, we will click very soon..

I believe he will manage 1 every 3 games at least, and that will exactly break that record. So no worries.

some fans just amaze me by their blindness..

Those trolling Ozil, have you ever wondered why wenger will always play him even when he’s not in form?.. wondered y mourinho at Chelsea said he’s the best number 10 in the world?.. wondered why Loew will not take him out of the German team?

Arsenal without Ozil plays like a bottom_half of the table team.
