As if Wenger would get the Real Madrid job!

Wenger Favourite To Replace Zidane !!! by Neil Watson

So Talksport have reported within an hour of Zidane resigning as manager of Real Madrid that the favourite to replace him is……..( wait for it )………Arsene Wenger!

As you might know I have a deep rooted hatred of the media based purely on the fact that they lie about rumours continually, causing fans, who believe what they read, to be disillusioned by the eventual outcome. Basically they just make a huge amount of it up.

Now that very same media certainly helped the Arsenal fans who wanted Wenger out, myself included, but now watch them build this story, suggesting that his ‘experience and flare for creating teams that play attacking football’ will make him the perfect choice for Madrid. Despite the fact no more than a month ago they were saying, at 68, his best years are behind him….. which they most definitely are!

I hate lazy journalism. The only enjoyable thing I can glean from this story is that it might piss off Sergio Ramos for a few hours and wipe the smug grin off Ronaldo’s face.

If, in the extremely unlikely scenario, there is any truth in it I think will be something that will justify our clubs decision to, allegedly, fire him.

What odds would you get for him going there and helping them to a sixth place finish?

  1. Wenger got nothing to do with Arsenal anymore yet we spend so much time talking bout him still

  2. Why do you keep slagging off the greatest manager Arsenal has ever had.
HE’S GONE NOW – YOU CAN STOP.

    1. It’s funny people think there’s no truth in this.Real Madrid have already made contact with the man.But I think it’s between Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger in my opinion. If he goes I hope he destroys teams so that people would keep quiet.I just don’t like how some people look down on him. This world is not a very nice place.Sometimes you wish he left when the going got tough. The story would’ve been different.

    2. What’s this making rounds that Xhaka is injured in training putting World Cup possibly in doubt?

  3. Wenger missed his chance to coach Madrid many years ago. My worry for Real Madrid now is that many good coaches are already tied up.
Well, let’s see who they appoint next.
    Fingers crossed.

  4. Maybe Real Madrid are rebuilding.
Selling off their top players and looking for manager that can deliver top 3 for champions league?

Maybe they got their hands on that luscious Anfield stuff?

I put this with Benzema to Arsenal rumors.

    1. Zidane is a luck man, he quit RM after he won the Europian Championship treble, and now he is going to take the France nation team after the 2018 WC, and then win the Euro 2020 and WC 2022 with the likes of Mbappe, Dembele and Pogba at the world best. If he will manage that, then he is going to be the Greatest Man of football. I wish him the best

    2. Seriously guys. Enough with the Wenger disrespect already. Quite a number of us wanted him gone.my own self inclusive but I don’t think we should make the man an object of ridicule.he’s gone so should all move on.Thanks folks

      1. Well said, surely there are more topics than just keep saying the same things over and over again. He’s gone please can we move on.

        1. @ Mwsupporter
          Can we move on ?
Yes, of course. But that no topics about Wenger, NO WAY.
The man made impact, that fact will be here for a long time guys!
He will get mention anytime discourse comes up.
Also, adding to him getting the Real Mad job, it is not likely he will get it.
One obvious point is, a bone-crusher Ramos and Captain is not his type of player. If you are prone to or fixed on getting Red-carded, you have to change as Wenger is concerned or you don’t get to play.

  5. This is just arsenal, not just arsene..if he goes, good for him…but i think he will not..real madrid is a team that will demands titles and a very seccesfull coach es going out…that is more pression that arsene want and than he is used to ( he is used to no demands at all)

    1. As I said yesterday that Napoli would be in for him to replace the City bound Jorginho. It’s too late now.
We need to look elsewhere. The Benfica DM is the guy I truly want.

  6. Maybe RM got bored of winning the CL so are looking for a manager that will get them humiliated in the last 16

  7. Cant we enjoy our honey moon admin!?!! Wenger can go coach sme alliens in mars don give a damn now i think we fans shud start wenger out protests from J .A .N we want arsene out from this site onwards without wenger ..

    1. Or you could always just not bother reading the articles, you’re not compelled to.

There have been many articles I’ve looked at and not bothered with, especially before Wenger left, as every single article, no matter what the subject was very quickly turned into a “Wenger out” article.

  8. Last time I looked 4th place was not what club or fans aspired to in Madrid … Just give it up … Along with Ramsey to barcelona … Iwobi for future ballon d or stardom … Bendtner for World Cup golden boot .. And all the other wenger inspired wet dreams that helped the junkies get through the last decade of failure … and let’s hope emery can deliver progress

  9. Truly reading all these comments i’m not surprised other fans of other clubs are having a laugh at us ,we like shooting ourselves all over ,New manager let’s move on be positive about the new season

  10. Wenger is gone and the Emirates is now like the animal farm, let Wenger be you scoundrels

  11. Kinda of topic but can I ask if anyone knows what’s the plan the club have in mind wether it be renaming a stand or the entire stadium in memory of the Professor Sir Arsene Wenger

    1. Why not name the Stadium one of the following
      The Billy Wright Stadium
      The Bertie Mee Stadium
      The Terry Neil Stadium
      The George Graham Stadium
      The Bruce Ricoh Stadium

After all these managers were all SACKED just like Wenger was

        1. @PIRES-I think it’s fair to say the club is very much in a “transitional” phase at the moment. An ageing squad. No real and obvious leaders.A team that finished SIXTH in the Premier League last Season after overcoming Burnley.Players needing to be bought.Players needing to be sold. How much money does the new manager have to spend.Who does he buy. What positions must he improve. How tactically different will he be this season competed to the last few years.will he buy a CDM.will he buy one or more CB’s.What about a GK.When are the team going to wear red socks.
Who do YOU think is responsible for this mess? And YOU expect ME to feel that Wenger should have the Stadium named after him after robbing us of £9m per year wages to totally fail in his job?
Let me tell YOU something. The Stadium Naming rights are worth a lot of money.Do YOU seriously believe we will forgoe £20m per season to name our Stadium over a FAILURE.Who was SACKED.
As I’ve said to you on plenty of occasions-when you have something relevant to say then everyone will look forward to hearing from you.Until then STFU.And remember it’s a school night.

          1. Mr Know it all Phil, Mourinho did finish 6th with United despite spending an obscene amount of money on Pogba and other players. He did win the Europa league (there were no decent teams in the semis) whereas Arsenal lost in the semi to a better team that eventually lifted the trophy.
I’m sure United fans did not vilify Mourinho then and not even now despite winning nothing this season.

          2. Wenger wasn’t sacked, AFC and he mutually parted, you can twist it to say he was sacked but the truth is he wasn’t.

As for who is responsible for our current mess, it is also partially down to Gazidis for failing to get the right players in, for panic buying and not working well enough with the manager.

We currently have Welbroke and he was signed when the manager only wanted a loan with option to buy, after how much time injured in his 1st season then I doubt he would have made the move perm.

Another player to look at it Perez, we bought him and he wasn’t given a long run in the team, we bought him after Wenger said he wanted Laca. Gazidis failed to back the manager by making the funds available and we panic bought Perez while still buying Laca later anyway…

How about Elneny? Wenger wanted Xhaka, AFC bought Elneny and then the club still buys Xhaka.

People used to say it was Wenger being tight fisted but here we are talking about a rebuild on the price of a single top WC player…

            An aging squad?
            Let us check this claim…

            Bellerin 23 – Chambers 23 – Holding 22 – Mavrop 20 – Sead Kola 24
We do have mature players in Monreal and Kos, Per has retired so not counted anymore. Ratio of ‘aged’ and ‘prospect’ is 2:5 in favor of prospects for Def.

            Xhaka 25 – Elneny 25 – Rambo – 27 – AMN 20 – Wilshere 26
CM doesn’t appear aged to me… Santi was but he has left.

            Attacking Midfield:
            Iwoni 22- Nelson 18 – Mkhi – 29 – Ozil 29
Mkhi wasn’t signed by Wenger so kinda harsh to blame him for Mkhi age… plus Mkhi has done well for us despite him being slightly aged. Ozil is slightly aged as well but not like we haven’t got youth coming through, with better coaching then maybe Iwobi might turn WC, Nelson looks like he can if developed right, AFC have youth inplace and youth are the opposite of aged.

            Attackers:
            Nketiah 19 – Laca 27 – Welbroke 27 – Auba 28

I would say Laca and Auba are in their prime, not aged…

            Aged squad disproven.

Telling people to STFU… PMSL! Take your own advice!

  12. If he does go to Real, which I doubt, they will still win the Champion’s League, it’s in their DNA. I think it’s 13 wins so far. Wherever he goes I wish him all the best.

    1. I’m mates with terry Christian and he told me once City would never Wien the prem cos it’s not in their DNA…never believe DNA!!

  13. Sky reporting Liverpool have made Barca an offer for Dembele

Still think we can achieve top 4 ?

    1. Balague was the one who gave klopp the heads up and salah is injured but hopefully barca won’t want to strengthen there rivals of CL

      1. Just read that Liverpool are buying dembele now not loaning him! £88mil plus add ons and Barca excepted the bid so if this happens I might leave football alone for a few years just bcoz arsenal have had chances to buy top players over the years and never went through with it but Liverpool seem to have taken the advantage when I matters and with mane, salah, firminho, dembele, Fabinho, kieta etc that’s the knew invisibles in my eyes and I’m not watch that! We couldn’t even get mbappe when he was free either! Dembele n mbappe are the future I’m angry to say the least

      1. It better be rubbish coz I took a break from arsenal for 2 years due to wenger and bcoz of the appointment of Emery I’m giving the club a chance to change coz I know we can be big again if we get the right transfer policy! So far I’m seeing clubs that are better than us but players in the elite bracket and were just acting like 6th place is normal, it’s only a matter of time b4 every fan realises that kroenke is never gonna bring success to arsenal and that we are just a big club that cba to compete! If Arsenal really wanted to be the best we would be better than Liverpool, we would beat them to transfers and make history bcoz the club is huge with a huge history and I’m bored of waiting for usamanov while we become smaller and smaller until no player want to come to us bcoz we’re not ambitious or in Europe also kids growing up won’t even know who arsenal are if we carry on

    2. John have ever considered changing a club? l know i do not have any right to tell you to support another club that is why i asked the above question. The way you talk about arsenal has nothing with your desire for the club to do well or your love the club. l think you are obsessed with what clubs do even if they have never achieved anything with it and you have a sense of insecurity when it comes to club you support. You ignore the fact that we are starting new with a new coach. Did pool started this way when Klopp first came in. He and the club took their time and increase their transfer money by selling their star player. You prefer competing to actual winning when it comes to us and seeing nothing wrong in spending hundreds of million and come out empty handed in case of Liverpool. Arsenal did so badly this season there is no sense in ignoring that fact, so did Liverpool, Chelsea and manu. Chelsea spent over 250m to get a mere fa cup. Manu , almost 200m and Liverpool well they almost win cl and a point better than what they got last season.

      1. No I’ve never thought of supporting another club however, I do have a right to speak up if I think something is wrong. Just a point “ clubs who have never achieved anything? I’m not sure who your referring to as Liverpool have achieved far more than us this year and history shows that they have achieved far more than Arsenal. The reason I mentioned dembele as we have been linked with him.
Just so you know I’ve probably supported Arsenal
Longer than you have lived but hey respect is earned I appreciate that.
I agree we are starting with a new manager however time waits for no man or club. I’m sorry I don’t just support the club even when they rip the fans (me included)off .
Forgive me for voicing my opinion on a public forum

        1. You must have being supporting arsenal for over 41 years then. I don’t quite agree with you above Liverpool achieving more than us this season. We are both losers and they lose when it hurt most. Nobody remember the loser. I have heard that a lot when it comes to arsenal.

        2. You must have being supporting arsenal for over 41 years then. I don’t quite agree with you above Liverpool achieving more than us this season. We are both losers and they lose when it hurt most. Nobody remember the loser. I have heard that a lot when it comes to arsenal. I have no problems with somebody speak up or calling spade a spade. I think we just did that and that got Wenger out arsenal. I can remember so many here myself included were saying we should look beyond only if we want to achieve the needed change we all craved for. After that has be said. All we all need is patient and calm mind to see how things unfold with Emery. No one shouldn’t be so excited with what the guy can do.

  14. Monbella
The difference with Liverpool and city’s spending is that it’s done with intent, with and end game which is ruling the world of football! That mentality is scary to us fans bcoz as a bigger club we seem to be content with failure in the transfer window like it doesn’t win you trophies when it does and if any arsenal fan gets fed up of watching a club waste it’s prestige and riches on getting by in life then they are what I would consider a normal but slightly intelligent person who can call a spade a spade

  15. At least Wenger was fairly successful at managing a club something his detractors here couldn’t do in a million years. How long till Arsenal’s knuckle dragging supporters have the knives out for Emery?

    1. It won’t be Emery’s fault this time it will be the boards for not having the finances that a new manager needs when he takes over from a 22 year manager which includes staff n coaches being changed etc 6th place tells the board that spending is needed to get back in top 4 otherwise prepare for war with the fans and prepare to loose more money in sponsorship etc

    2. Quite a while pal.The knives are still firmly planted in Wengers back where they deserved to stay

    3. To insult the huge majority of those who disagreed with you over Wengers fitness to continue managing us as “knuckle dragging” says far more about the lack of mentality of YOU, than it ever could about us. Think on , if you aim to be a serious commentator on here. Racists , bigots, terrorists may properly be so described but NOT decent football fans who simply want the best for the team they love. A hugely silly comment you make.

      1. ‘Decent’ so called fans that hurled a torrent of abuse and filth at someone who had been Arsenal’s most successful manager.’Knuckle dragging’ is an apt description. Now some of these so called fans are saying it will be the board’s fault if Emery doesn’t succeed . Yet this is the same board Wenger had to contend with and it was ok to blame everything on Wenger. Talk about one rule for one manager and another rule for another.

Then there is the talk of a mass cull of the playing staff, which, though not a sign of knuckle dragging, shows the mentality of a lot of fans. It’s totally impractical in terms of getting Arsenal back to where people think they belong. Realistically that’s 4th place with anything above that punching above their weight . It needs to be a gradual process of improving the team with the emphasis this coming season of shoring up the defence including buying a quality DM.

          1. It’s time to look forward and with the new set up where the coach is just a coach and the transfers are in the hands of the professionals! Wenger did get the blame but it was his call on most transfers where as Emery isn’t playing that role so it will be the board and svens responsibility anyway enough about the past it’s time to compete again on the pitch and in the transfer window! Ppl are saying it’s gonna take time but inside they know if we don’t get a DM now then we ain’t improving NOW either so like I was saying it’s time to be the big club again starting now

          2. Article about Wenger, expect people to talk about Wenger in this article…
I’d be frustrated if it was an article with nothing to do with Wenger but… This is about Wenger and the RM job.

      2. If AFC fans can call stoke fans stuff like neanderthals… and I haven’t seen you telling them off for saying that…

It is knuckle dragging as well, not like he has insinuated that the people who disagree with him are rapists or terrorists or anything that horrendous, which you put knuckle dragging with.

A hugely silly comment you maDe.

  16. People forget that in his early years with us he guided us to 3 Premier League trophies.
If he became Manager of a squad full of world class players then he should be able to repeat that success with Madrid. Then years later take them to 6th place

  17. Neil, In a minor way, we ALL on here are also “the media” (or social media anyway). Media has widened to include anyone who ever comments on, in our case, football. So, in a way, we are all guilty. But I would argue actually NOT guilty as we , fortunately, live in a land where free speech is taken as our God given right. And long may it remain so. Personally, I doubt Wenger will ever now become RM manager as his recent years at Arsenal will have widely damaged his football credulity world wide at top level. Spaniards watch the PREM all the time and will be well aware of the campaign we waged to oust him . And why! Plus he is hardly young.

    1. Totally agree John. I think most people missed the point of this article which was that the media are more fickle than the fans: They equally called for the head of Wenger to boost audience figures whilst now suggesting his experience would be an asset to RM. I wasn’t besmirching Wenger in this piece, I was calling out the press for saying in one breath he was over the hill and in the next saying he was the perfect replacement for Zidane………

  18. Wenger is a good coach, the calibre of players playing for Madrid is not the same with Arsenal, and come to think of it, they are fast learner of tiki taka, so expect Wenger to shine, if given the Madrid job. Wish him all the best all the time.

  19. I see Pochettino may be the favourite for Real.
That would be great, then Wenger can go to Spurs, which would be a great help in getting us back to top 4.

  20. i would give anything to see that man, our sacked manager, take the reins at real madrid , or , another top , top side in europe.then, at last, the debate would surely be answered, is he a good enough manager to coach a top side.the proof of the pudding is in the eating , as they say !.if he succeeded , then i would gladly eat my words . however, if he failed, and i am in no doubt that he would fail , it just might shut up the people who see that man as a messiah , still , to this very day .so, i am more than willing to take the result of his management of a big team . let the football gods decide this for us .
