Atletico Madrid after Arsenal’s Cazorla? No way Jose!

There have been many Arsenal transfer rumours linking our very own little Spaniard with a move to the La Liga winners Atletico Madrid, but with Cazorla playing brilliantly against Man City in the Community Shield, not to mention the opening goal, there is absolutely no reason why Wenger should get rid of one of our best players.

The ex-Malaga star has himself rubbished any possible move back to Spain this summer, and has made it clear that he is only focused on having another successful season with the Gunners.

Cazorla was quoted in The Independent as saying: “I’ve seen that in the papers, but nobody has told me anything personally and the only things I know are from the papers, so I don’t know anything.

“I’m only focused on training here and preparing well playing with Arsenal. It’s paper talk.

“I’m well, I have the confidence of everybody, the support of the fans and we hope to have a good season.”

And Atletico should know by now that Arsenal are NOT a selling club any longer!

      2. I agree that Santi is a big part of the club whether or not holds a secure starting position – he is needed.

        But I find it amusing the seeming difference in outlook from one game to the next.

        After the Monaco game the comments revealed great doubt about Cazorla’s abilities. After the City game the comments wanted to crown him king of Arsenal.

        Probably this reflects the views from different sets of fans but it is interesting to note anyway.

  6. WHY have you posted a rumour that has been touted around for months now.
    Two days ago, it was rumoured Galatasary had sent reps to London to make an offer for THE PRINCE and Joel Cambell.
    WHEN will we stop listening to, or reading gossip that has NO official confirmation by ANYONE that would actually know.
    Fact is, we know NOTHING about players Wenger is thinking of buying, or selling.
    I heard, again, yesterday Dortmund want to sell Reus, rather than him going on a free, or to Munich next Season, and, that Arsenal were in POLE position to sign him. Yeah right.

  11. If we signed Hummels, Khedira, Reus and Cavani, I’d reckon we would have a decent shot at the PL title

    1. Yeah that’s a big IF but let’s be real cause at the end of the day this isn’t Fifa 14 transfers are a lot more complicated than putting and bid and just getting the player well unless you’re Real Madrid

    2. Hummels? Nah! Quality but have a good CB partnership and Chambers is already a rock in defence. Khedira and Reus make more sense as we ll need a good CDM and LW in the next couple of years if Arteta and Santi leave. Cavani is not needed either as we seem to have a multitude of promising young strikers in our ranks already. Plus he’s the same age as Giroud and we all know Wenger will keep him for some more years.

      If we signed those 4 or the first 2 and 1 of the latter, we would WIN the EPL and the CL. But I can’t see it happening just like I can’t see us winning the EPL with our current team.
      Its between 80 to 100 million pounds of transfer fees alone for 3 of them. I guess it depend on how much hunger Wenger has to want to win the EPL or CL or both.

      I’ll second that. Still need a striker, imposing defensive midfielder and a high quality centre-back to be realistic title contenders. In order of priority: DM, ST and CB.

        End of the day London is by far the largest city in England and the United Kingdom. 9+ million people live in London. London is the biggest city in western Europe, and the world’s largest financial centre and it deserves a top team on par with likes of Madrid and Barcelona!

  16. If we send Campbell on loan to AC Milan, do you think we will still be okay on the striker side of the team?

    We still have Giroud, Sanogo, Podolski, Sanchez, Walcott.

    2. Sanchez, Walcott and Campbell must be kept (not that they were going anywhere in the first place) if wenger is not signing a top quality striker. Out of the six they are better all round players, more quality and more suited to Arsenal’s style of play. 1 of the other 3 should be loaned. It will most likely not be Giroud. So its either Podolski or Sanogo. If you think of it, Podolski and Giroud are not going to improve or get any better than their current level which is not so impressive. Sanogo on the other hand is still raw and has potential. How much potential is the question. I think loaning out Sanogo to give him more game time to develop and play regularly will be best.

  18. The Express reports that we are lining up moves for Cavani, Reus and Khedira. Seems unlikely that we’ll get one let alone three of them. Szcz Debuchy Chambers Kos Gibbs Khedira Ramsey Ozil Reus Cavani Sanchez does sound quite a nice starting 11. We can but dream.

    1. rather this not happen then. I think Poldi i good backup, and if Campbell goes on loan again, that would probably end his Arsenal career. And he has a ton of potential if Wenger gives him a chance this season. hopefully we see him start against Besiktas.

  23. Cavani needs to be bought. Perhaps not for £51m but £40m is about right. Just look at his scoring record. At Napoli he scored 78 goals in 104 league games. To compare Giroud scored 27 goals in 70 league games. While Giroud’s goal record is respectable, Cavani’s shows why he is considered world class.

    1. Price is everything in getting a player like Cavani. Just think of the impact that 51 million’s worth of DM and CB would bring to the club.

      To me, Cavani is just waaaaaaay overpriced. He would cost 3 times (300%) as much as Giroud for example. He might score 25-30 goals in the highly competitive BPL. That is only a 20-30% increase of over Giroud’s totals.

      Additionally, it is clear Wenger gearing the club toward scoring goals primarily with attacking “midfielders,” (Sanchez, Walcott, Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, etc). He is not putting any emphasis on the traditional striker-up-front system.

      1. I agree with DM and CB being more important. But for Cavani, it is the type of goals he scores that makes his value so high. Giroud isn’t really a cut throat clinch finisher. Cavani is. Just like RVP was for us, and was in his first season with Man U. He alone gave them an easy title.

  32. Leo i see Reus was left on bench should we read anything into that think he would be a much better signing then cavarni plus will still leave us funds for a cb and dm!

    1. cavanis wage demands are high he is 160/w & asking for more but he wants to leave Madrid president perez is in paris to push di maria 2 PSG if that goes through we could have a chance with cavani reus there is interest I would want him but will BVB sell him ?

  34. People out here keep saying we might sign Reus – this will never happen not especially this season lets move on. Dortmund will NOT sale any of there key players this season.

    As hard as it may be as Arsenal is linked with almost every player on the planet, but still lets focus on more realistic rumors guys! Try posting Arsenal may sign Reus THIS SEASON on another platform and see how people would laugh the heck out of you.

  35. Don’t understand the Frenchman we need quality defensive cover whether DM or cb and another striking option …. Arteta flamini podolski are all well past their best … Monreal was never there in first place …. There are much better options on all fronts .. It will be a tragedy if having brought in Sanchez his penny pinching costs us again

  38. i think whatever case maybe, the priority for wenger is still an extra CB, who could ideally play CDM and/or LB as well.

    should be seeing that very soon, Wenger himself said so, and I don’t think he’ll be THAT crazy to NOT do that.

    the extra player he might be looking for AFTER that is probaby Cavani, While Podolski looks likely to leave.

    the whole cavani thing hinges on when Di Maria leaves. And from the looks of it, not soon.
    RM probably wants to sell Di Maria to PSG cuz they can pay more, but the one REALLY wanting the player is probably Man Utd.
    RM never really looks at where the player wants to leave, so its all a matter of who bids highest.
    Will have to wait for the usual pattern of Marca start talking trash about Di Maria somehow, (that’s the sign there’s a definite agreement at club level.) which would force Di Maria to leave eventually.
    Khedira MUST be leaving, but maybe not to us due to wages and wilshere.
    I’m not sure if Khedira is prepared to stay on bench the whole season, just to be picked up by another club as a free.
    RM is desperate to sell these 2 at a total of around 42m, which will cover the cost of J.Rod.

    To us, it’s just a waiting game and see if PSG really will get Di Maria.
    so it’s 1 more defender within a week or 2, and a chance of cavani by deadline day, given Di maria goes to PSG.
