BANG! Arsenal rocked by another HUGE injury crisis!

This time it seems to be even worse for Arsenal Football Club and Arsene Wenger, as the manager’s hopes of building on the battering we handed out to Gatalatasaray in Turkey and bouncing back in the Premier League after the horror show at Stoke have taken a massive blow.

Despite being able to rest a few key players for the trip to Istanbul, Wenger is faced with yet another injury crisis and the possibility that his depleted squad will include just one first choice centre back in Per Mertesacker.

Sky Sports have reported the latest injury update from the Arsenal boss and it is nothing short of a disaster, with Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal seemingly out of contention for the visit of Newcastle United on Saturday evening. With young Calum Chambers also suspended, it leaves Wenger scratching his head and with serious problems fielding a decent back four.

Wenger said, “Our main problems are still defensively because Koscielny looks like he will not be quite ready, Monreal is not back and Chambers is suspended.”

We do have Kieran Gibbs fit to play at left back and the return of Mathieu Debuchy on the right could not have come at a better time, but who can Wenger choose to partner the BFG in the middle?

Isaac Hayden would normally be the choice from the academy but he is only just back in training after his own injury. Then you have maybe Semi Ajayi of Stefan O’Connor with very limited experience. There is not much room for shuffling either and dropping Flamini back because of Arteta’s injury.

It’s a tough one for Wenger to sort out that is for sure. What would you do?

        1. The writer says, “It’s a tough one for Wenger to sort out that is for sure. What would you do?”

Why the f**k will the writer ask us to know what we will do??? He (Arsene) put himself in that position, his fans say he knows best and should be allowed to do his job, why ask guys like me what we will do? You forget what they call us? The situation was brought about because of his cluelessness and his cluelessness is one of the reasons we want him out (we actually have been very patient with him, thinking he will change for good but he hasn’t and it doesn’t seem he would).

          1. Seriously cluelessness? The man is stubborn and has an ego but to call him clueless would be completely wrong. Kinda shows how clueless you are to say that

            1. If you know what to do but do not do it becuz of how stubborn and proud you are, is there anything that differentiates you from someone who doesn’t do something becuz he has no clue what to do?

When we lost to Swansea, when he failed to make the right changes, was that him being stubborn or clueless?

Dude, don’t let me sting you. They say we are the abusive ones, but here u are throwing the first punch.

            2. Selling vermaelen and not replacing him and only having to recognised CBs at a top club…..err yeah id say that makes him pretty clueless!

          2. And please, some folks should stop trying to play smart that AOBz (not a name we gave ourselves) are dumb becuz the want Wenger out before the end of the season. I don’t care when you want him out, midway or at the very end of the season, so long as you want him out and YOU DO KNOW THE VERY REASONS WHY he should leave, you are very welcome.

            1. Duh!!! Here comes the good guy. Yeah, I’m Jesus, why don’t you just go ahead and crucify me?

By the way, I’m on no one’s back. I’m not angry with anyone else, other than Wenger and the bad situation. @Daniel

          3. What change are you talking about? That he would never buy a world class player? (major opinion from three years ago). He bought Sanchez and Ozil. Tactically? We’ve all seen huge amounts of pragmatism if you actually bother to look.

Change takes time, Arsene is changing with the club, the club is changing, growing , becoming bigger, and Wenger’s clout is growing with it. Give him a bit of time to play with all of the money that HE made us – like I’ve said before, it took city years to win the league after they started splashing out. It takes more than a season or two to build a dominant team. Wenger has only really had a year and a half.

              1. My comment already answered that, not going to get drawn into your immature, subversive tactics. Two things: I am completely unsurprised that we haven’t won the league yet, and patience leads to real success and longevity. People saying we’ve been ‘patient enough’ are philosophically inept. What is enough? How long is a peice of string. Look at our club objectively, stop being over emotional.

            1. Well, tickets prices are an issue and any unspent money from our yearly transfer found should at least be used in reducing them. It would prove the board respect toward all fans who dish out huge amount of their hard earn salary to attend games that will at the moment only give us top 4 expectation.
I am not an AOB or AKB as somehow short minded “fans” would like to describe themselves as.
I respect Wenger’s work taken to a context in which he has been tied up in the building of the team but i am expecting much more from now on.
We went through a difficult time (10 years) but the financial struggle is now over and i am myself happy to let Arsene Wenger prove what he can do with no restraints for the remaining of this season and the next.
If no improvements are shown after that time, serious question about our club’s future leadership should be raised.
Sagna’s departure was the only major one in the last 2 transfer windows while adding serious signings. in that regard there has been improvements at last.
I say; lets see what happen this summer and next season.
It is my opinion and i am not trying to start a senseless debate on whether we should or not part with our manager now as it would only bring chaos to the club and add the risk to loose big players during the summer.
Improvements and success are due but need to be done the right way.

    1. My men,Arsenal is going nowhere for some time
Wenger is acting like a suzerain with the club doing what he wants and listening to no one.
He has his minions in the stadium and the internet sites defending his cause, spreading lies and propaganda to deviate the fact that the majority of supporters are fed up with him.
Last time I was watching Shearer telling with contempt”they will get the fourth place, that what they are good for””.That how Arsenal is watched,a club who is fighting for the rest, not for the glory.
Now,all the planet earth,AKB and AOB,young and old, poor and rich know Arsenal need A strong DM and a good CB to balance the team, all agree on this.
That the time for Wenger to show if he can take on this challenge, prove his dtractors wrong and go for it without looking for excuses. If he does,no one could deny him the fact that he is trying, fighting to get back the confidence of the supporters.
If he does nothing and come with his usual excuses,I call for a boycott. All those who truly love Arsenal, don t go to the stadium and don t buy merchandise. That the way to get the board and puma attention.

    1. 8 million, this is Rick

      Rick, this is 8 million

Welcome to the game. Now you will think Nacho is a centre back and Arteta is a DM

  1. Can you stop using the word “BANG”? Since I’ve been to this site, I’ve tend to hate that fkin word.

    1. Haha, me too.

Odd that everytime a player comes back, we lose one or few others. Fully fit squad is something that doesn’t exist at Arsenal.

    2. Come on, pal! Every man should love the word “Bang”. I mean I do, u should too. That’s what men do best: BANG!!!

  2. Well Mr Wenger, why did you start the season with only 2 CB. You did not listen to the fans when we were asking you to buy a CB and a DM….Don’t know who’s to blame now if it is not your fault???

    1. Actually season was started with 3 and if you count Hayden there were 4. But I say this: if Wenger pulls out some miracle victory with this squad on Saturday are you ready to suck his di ck?

        1. Trust me, I’ll make room for you. Is not first seat but hey, better than nothing. Still, can you answer the question? Will you be on his dic k should we win on Saturday? Coz I know for sure you’d go for his throat should we god forbid lose.

            1. Sure thing, but only if we lose. If we win then would you go at the wrong end of the dic k? Stop wasting time 🙂

      1. @Budd, Why you are angry? he said nothing wrong …
Only 2 CB … Chamber was bought for RB cover (playing CB is just an advantage, remember) and you must be kidding to count Hayden as 4th option .. even our deluded manager wouldn’t take that as an excuse …

        1. You actually lie just to justify your argument. Chamber was bought as a CB/DM because we already had Debuchy and Bellerin. RB came as a bonus.

            1. Haha, no need to go that far. He just said it last week. He noticed Chambers when we played them this January. Guess what position was he playing against us in the 2-2 draw at St. Mary. Yeah baby, CB.
As the article says : BANG !

      2. @ budd for such a disgusting statement Arsenal may loose or at most draw……what’s the different between Arsenal and new castel presently nothing but Just the name.

  3. I’m going to repost a comment by ‘ArseneIsYourDaddy’ from the previous article. He’s absolutely hit the nail on the head. Some of you lot need to take a good hard look at yourselves.

‘You cannot separate football from some scum fans. They are in every club.
But the internet has released brain dead twats to the world wide stage. Every game demands some “expert” response from these fools.

Pardew out, Allardyce out, Wenger out, Pulis out, Santi out, Giroud out, Smalling out, etc etc etc.
Now these morons think they “know” football. Do these fools tell the mechanic how to fix their cars. Do they tell their dentist how do do a filling. Football breeds some sort of expert” fan who brains swollen with FIFA14 think they can manage.

You cannot you deluded twats; you cannot. You are a fan. You don’t have a coaching badge. Most of you can not hit the ocean if I give you a ball on the beach.

Show some *$%^^* class. Dortmund fans support their team even in last place. Galatasaray fans never stopped singing. It is always some thuggish Arsenal “fan” or some internet twat head swollen by self importance thinks that they know more than all the football managers put together.
After the game, you scream at Wenger, go home and demand your Mum serve you some crisp and a beer. Tough guys !’

    1. So everyone who wants wenger out is a tool off the internet? Everyone who wants him to stay is a season ticket holder? Is that your point. What part of the ground do you sit in?

    2. Very condescending of you.

You think that everyone who has Internet access and wants wenger out are morons?

I have played and watched football all my life and been an arsenal fan since I was 12 (I am now 43).

I do not delude myself in thinking I am a football manager and have never played championship manager or FIFA football but I know one thing.

Over the last 10 years Wenger has kept the board happy by securing 4th spot to secure CL football from which we have mostly departed ‘toute suite’ from the last sixteen.

During this time 1 FA cup has been won.
This is not good enough of a return IMO and countless other ‘intelligent’ adults who are concerned with:

      Wenges lack of:
      – tactical astuteness
      – an ability to identify and secure sufficient depth in key positions throughout his squad for the season
      – awareness in the effect of playing players out of position
      – overall analysis; if it isn’t working perhaps change things.

football is big money; we the masses either fund it by paying for sky sports or similar or by paying for match tickets and merchandise (or both). Managers and footballers gain handsome reward from this so why is it too much for fans to be disenchanted with the clubs proceedings and to voice their concerns?

      AFC deserves better.

      1. @ArseOverTit – It’s just a few of the more brain-dead AOBs making a lot of ‘noise’ (posting every 5 minutes) that gives the rest of the AOBs a bad name. For instance I just did a rough check on how many times KickAssFan (total moron AOB) has posted on just this one thread and it’s about 10-12 and counting. Anyone, AOB or AKB, who writes sensibly and puts up a good argument gets my thumbs up.

        1. If you have a problem with specific people then perhaps address it with them instead of firing off generalisms and tarring everyone who no longer supports the manager with the same brush..

I guess I am part of the ‘AOB” now (man I hate this simpistic tag) but I have been for too long a time been a member of the ‘SUWB’ (suffering under wenger brigade)..

          Enough.

          1. That’s exactly what I was doing if you read my post properly – trying to distinguish people with a reasonable viewpoint from the more moronic minority.

    3. @ Int. Gunner I don’t want WENGER out because I woke up one day from the wrong side of the bed…year after year I gave him the benefit of doubt, No Funds, Injuries you name it….The problem with WENGER is obvious, read the article, he in his stubbornness did not buy the much needed players to built our defense, has players as Podolski and Rosicki (forget Campbell) rotting in the bench…. and I will not go over the long list because we all know them, He can’t shield anymore behind his glory days, which we are all thankful for. I am ready to become an AKB if I see the man changing his ways and being more humble listening…is not the ignorant Fans who remind him what needs to do with this team to become a contender is every expert who can’t understand why we can’t aspire for more than just 4th place and being beaten merciless by our nemesis in the process.

    4. if I’m spending good money on a dentist they better damn well know what they’re doing. I dont need a PhD to know when my dentist destroys my mouth. Its ridiculous that you think fans have to bow down to whatever the board/manager does. Whats the point of the club if fans are just a bunch of sheep that pump out money. You are not a better fan because you are silent, in fact that probably makes you a worse one.

    5. FFS, can’t you see that we’re already in the process of change? Ozil and Sanchez. We are heading towards glory and we’re close, but you’re all angry that we’re not there now! Why can’t you see the forest for the trees? We are changing in the right way at the right pace. Look what happened to Spurs and Liverpool when they tried to change too fast. Football is about building a team, and you want to pull the rug out when we’re on the brink?

I am so bored of this, but once more. We have not been underachieving for ten years. Why? For eight of those years, due to our economic constraints, 3rd/4th has been our only realistic target. Evidence? Look at the squads we’ve had. Therefore, the logical conclusion is that Arsene did his job correctly for those eight years. The last two years have been the beginning of our challenge at the top, signified by the arrival of Ozil. How has Wenger done? Last year we won the FA cup and almost won the premier league. It is only halfway through the season this year and we have qualified for Champions League Knock outs. Admittedly we are lower in the league than we should be, but to fire a manager who has consistently performed for seventeen years due to half a season of under par results surrounded by exceptional circumstances is madness. Or, like I’ve said, over emotional and short sighted.

Key point I’m trying to make is that you all claim he’s done a bad job for the last ten years, which is absolute nonsense. He’s achieved the expected goals every season. We were only supposed to start challenging again the last two seasons. And if you are trying to assert that we SHOULD have won the league the last two years, then yes you are delusional. We are still underdogs. But to finish where I started, this club has big plans, we are moving forward conscientiously, the football is looking good. I would rather us wait for the right players than shoot ourselves in the foot and buying a Lovren. Done.

  4. This is what happens when u fail to plan before your season begins.how on earth do u expect ur team to cope with just 6 defenders in four positions..all the same Hyden would be a decent choice if fit..Best wishes gunners…

    1. Maybe Wenger is waking to the fact that you play football with the players you have, not the players you pretend to have when trying to pacify the fans who know better.

      1. I think they are. Crouch looks like he’s got a pair of them as legs.

However rollators aren’t allowed for sure.

  5. Defenders are not tough to find and are relatively cheap, can anyone tell me why he didn’t buy two after selling TV5 then loaning out Jenko?? oh right b/c he’s all about youth at the expense of trophies… ahhhhh gotcha!!

so we’ll get O’Connor or hayden to come in against a red hot new castle utd

    1. If defenders were that easy to find why is it that barca had to buy an injured TV5 who is still injured today? Why is it that Man U with all thwir money were not able to buy defenders and have to rely on academy players and midfielders? Why is it that Chelsea your model club has two 19 year olds with zero epl experieence as centre back ups?

Next time before you pretend to know things have knowledge first.

  6. I’ve got a feeling that Koscielny will be ready. If not than this injury is much more serious than we are being told. If he’s out then I’d like to see Hayden but I suspect it will be Debuchey with Bellerin at RB. Sigh.

  7. By New Years, All our defenders will be fit and Wenger will say we don’t need any defenders then 1st February our defenders will start getting injured again and Wenger will complain about bad luck with injuries to our defenders.

    Same old Wenger.
Actually he may get a mediocre defender or injured defender on loan. Maybe he will sign Rio Ferdinand or ask Sol Campbell to return

    1. As long as he does not bite on the bait named Nastiasic. He plays horribly every game – City won’t let him near the pitch and they would giggle all the way to the bank for anyone stupid enough to take him off their hands. He is not playable even as a backup.

  8. Also I’d love an update on Gnabry!
Arsenal dot com states on Oct 31st ‘Gnabry is a couple of weeks away’

  9. There is nothing to worry about.

Wenger told us that his defense was very strong with “plenty” of backups.

And an article on this very site told the fans that we were worrying about defensive backups for no reason and we should all just SHUT UP about it.

So you see – nothing to worry about.

  10. Someone on here usually says he’s not paid 8 million to think about such. This would be a perfect time for that comment.

  11. well who could have possibly predicted 2 CB’s wouldn’t be enough for the season??? It’s just bad luck guys, thats all!

  12. He will put Debuchy at CB and say to everyone he can play there you know.

He couldn’t see there were problems with the defence in terms of depth in the summer.

That’s what you get for trying to think you can go 4 months in the season with only 2 recognized CBs.

  13. Guys this all can be answered very simply
Mert isn’t good enough unless he’s paired with a TOP CB
Kos is carrying an injury and could carry it for the rest of the season, so wenger has two choices
Buy another TOP CB the when Kos is fit Mert goes as 3/4 choice or
    buy two very good CB
Jan will tell us if he has the balls , you know my opinion
    1 average CB
