Barcelona’s Iniesta urging snub on Arsenal’s Ozil and Liverpool’s Coutinho?

Andres Iniesta is claimed to have told Barcelona’s club bosses not to sign Philippe Coutinho or Mesit Ozil.

The Catalan giants have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Brazilian, with him supposedly being eyed as the replacement for the departed Neymar, who left in astonishing fashion to join Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record transfer deal.

Coutinho hasn’t been enjoying his best season, but is a part of a deadly attack which has helped his side to push for consecutive top four finishes in the Premier League, and is still believed to be on Barca’s wishlist

Mesut Ozil is also linked with a move to the Nou Camp, with him believed to be viewed as the value for money option, with the German available for a cut-price deal in January, or for free come next summer, but Iniesta is said to be against such a move.

The Barcelona superstar has a huge influence within the club, highlighted by his recent signing of a lifetime contract, and should his comments prove to be true, his opinion might just be taken into account.

Iniesta is claimed to have advised his side to promote 19 year-old Barca B forward Carles Alena instead of investing in an overpriced Coutinho or an inconsistent Ozil.

Lionel Messi has also been speculated to have informed his club that a move for the German international should be put off the table, and that could pave the way for Manchester United to land the former Real Madrid midfielder.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Arsenal star, but Ozil will be allowed to talk to clubs from outside of England from January about a prospective free transfer at the end of the campaign, and hopefully he won’t join one of our league rivals.

Could Iniesta and Messi have blocked Ozil’s Barcelona option? Is there a chance he could well stay beyond his current deal?

  1. Ozil is a good signing as a free transfer. Bench him until you need him. He plays really well in a few matches so is an excellent sub for a top CAM. Also WC players will make him look really good.

Wenger should have got a player like Lacazette years ago and a top CM like Cazorla, then Ozil would have looked really good too.

Central Midfield we need to not only replace Ozil but Cazorla and Viera (lol.. kind of)

  2. ozil; i suspect will not fit in with their style of play but feel ozil prefers to be be the focal point, as does messi. but these are rumours and rumours based on anything pulled from fresh air to create a story based on one one fact; no new contracts have been signed but who wants to write about that again
