Barton slams Arsenal boss – Likened to uncoordinated partygoer…

Joey Barton has claimed that Arsene Wenger should have left Arsenal some time ago, likening him to a drunken mess that should have gone home some time ago.

The Gunners slumped to their third defeat of the league campaign in only eight outings, and are already looking to accept that their fate is not to be title winners this season, but the manner in which they lost this weekend was a painful watch.

Arsenal took a 1-0 lead into the half-time interval against Watford on Saturday, only for the Hornets to turn the game around, and you would have to say that they certainly had their chances to kill the game prior to the turnaround.

Barton has now jumped on the bandwagon to pile pressure on the French boss, claiming he should have left already.

“These are worrying times if you’re an Arsenal fan,” said Barton.

“But if you’re him [Wenger] you think the next good team is just around the corner and he’s building it.

“Whatever any of us thinks he’s been a phenomenal manager in the Premier League.

“I think last year would have been a great time to step upstairs and let someone else come in.

“Does he need this? Every time they have a negative result he’s getting battered from pillar to post.

“I’m a huge fan of what Wenger has done, but sometimes you can stay at a party too long.

“Sometimes it’s nice to get off [home] at 12 o’clock, but it’s now about 4am and he’s staggering around absolutely bladdered waiting for someone to eject him.

“And that is only going to be a matter of time, I think!”

When was Wenger’s best time to step down as manager? Can he still turn things around this season?

  1. Way past his sell by date. About as much use as a chocolate tea pot nowadays

  2. It’s a great analogy but he stole it, I heard someone else using it a couple of seasons ago.

  3. Barton doesn’t like Wenger and he’s the last one to speak about anything football.. filthy player.

  4. Joey Barton is spot-on.

Shame we don’t have any bouncers to help Wenger stagger to the door and make his way out!

  5. Ah Joey barton… He knew exactly how to play us. Remember how he mindgamed our players to obtain a red card couple years ago? He knew long before anyone what was wrong with us.
