BFG fit again but should Arsenal START him against Chelsea?

As well as the verbal sparring and not so subtle digs between the Arsenal boss and his counterpart at Chelsea, there is a very important game of football to consider. And although both teams have players like Ozil, Giroud, Alexis, Ramsey, Oscar. Fabregas and Hazard, with the quality to turn a game with a moment of brilliance, it could well be that the tactical battle between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho proves to be the deciding factor.

So the Frenchman has a tough choice to make in his central defensive line up, although I am sure that it is a choice he is glad to have after seeing our Big Flipping German Per Mertesacker limp off with an ankle problem against Reading last weekend.

THe big defender has been touch and go all week but although it has not been officially confirmed by Arsenal that he is fit to play, you can see for yourself on the Arsenal website that he trained normally with the rest of the first team yesterday.

The problem that Wenger has is whether to plan for the inclusion of the Chelsea striker Diego Costa, with a Sky Sports report showing that Mourinho says he will make a final decision on the Spain international today. Mertesacker’s size, strength and aerial ability would be very useful against Costa, whereas the pace and tackling ability of Gabriel might be best against the pace of Loic Remy or Eden Hazard.

What do you reckon Gooners, the BFG or the Brazilian?

  1. we may need him because I only see Chelsea’s threat coming from setpieces. we will be with the ball most of the time

  2. SeriousLy, is there anything wrong with gabriel starting that match?….. If u think 90mins of excessive back passing gonna bring us the goals, then i think we have to decide if we are winning this match or not……. As we all know…chelski are coming 2 d emirates with 11 trucks…..a team full of agility and high pressers(as well as defensively minded players) would be desirable…..BFG had his chance in the 1st meeting at the bridge, Let gabriel have his……. End of story

  3. Hmm. The problem will be how much match fitness would Rhino’ have gained after training only on Saturday? 100% match fitness or less? Has his healed injured ankle had enough rest to heal deeper to withstand high pressure in this big game of today? If the answers are yes, Rhino’ can be started by the boss. But if the answers are no, Rhino’ should start on the bench.

  4. let’s do a Christian grey on them and spank em ….if we win 1-0..the media be like Chelsea we’re unlucky ..if we win 4-1..they be like the win means nothing coz Chelsea has not much to fight for …

    1. Lets spank em… then you say four one means nothing??, so what do you mean like score five six or seven. Nobody goes into a game against che saying lets score five or six just for the hell of it… get real for heaven sake.

  5. We all know that Chelsea will hit us on counterattacks and we hav seen mert make errors high up d pitch in matches like manutd and Monaco at emirates. Dese were the matches where we had the better possession. We should definitely start with Gabriel. Plus point of playing Gabriel is that he very often comes close to scoring for us through set pieces ! Dat header against reading for example!! Gabriel all d way. !!
