Arsenal will not have to face our Premier League title rivals Manchester United until after the next international break, but when the Gunners do travel up to Old Trafford for the match on the 19th of November, one of the players that could prove to be the keys to an Arsenal victory is the France international star Laurent Koscielny.
The last time Arsenal played away there we lost 3-2 against a weakened United side and it was a huge blow to our title challenge. That match also marked the EPl Debut of the United and England striker Marcus Rashford, who scored twice and set up Herrera for the other as the talented youngster began to make a name for himself, so you might be surprised to hear that he views his battle with Koscielny in that game as the toughest in his fledgling career so far, according to an Evening Standard report.
When asked who has been his toughest opponent Rashford said, “I think, individually, it would be Laurent Koscielny at Arsenal.
“He was a difficult defender to play against.”
The United youngster is not the only player who has found the Frenchman a tough nut to crack, as Koscielny is now being widely hailed as one of the best centre backs in the England and even the world. And he seems to keep getting better, highlighted by his place as the top scoring defender in the EPL’s official fantasy football game with 42 points. In fact only eight players from any position have scored more.
Let’s hope that Koscielny can be on the winning side at Old Trasfford this year, and with Mustafi and him forging a great pairing I think we have a great chance. Before that, however, a few more clean sheets should see the Gunners keep up the momentum in the race for the title.
Will it be another shut out for Arsenal against Swansea tomorrow?
