Can Arsenal and Chelsea really condemn Tottenham to the Europa League?

There is an interesting scenario that could happen this season if the current League positions of Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal remain the same until the end of the season. It has been highlighted by the famous Tim Stillman from Arseblog to day on Twitter…

Okay, this is a possible scenario and cannot be totally discounted, but it is certainly not probable in any dimension that we currently reside in!

The fact is that, first of all, Chelsea have to go on and win the Champions League. This is possible but it may be worth noting that after the 1-1 draw against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their current Champions league tie, they now have to go to the Camp Nou and get a minimum of another 1-1 draw to have a chance to progress. I have had a look at Barcelona’s home form, and other than a pre-season Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid, they have not lost a competitive game at home for SIXTEEN MONTHS and they haven’t lost a home Champions League match for FIVE YEARS! So although it is possible that Chelsea could go through it is not likely, eh? And even if the did, Conte’s team would still have seven other brilliant possible opponents to get past to win the trophy.

Even more unlikely is the chances of Arsenal getting past AC Milan to get to the quarter finals of the Europa League, and anyone who would bet on them to win the competition must be living in dreamland right now, so the chances of BOTH of those scenarios coming to fruition is actually astronomical (actually 260/1, i just checked!) so let’s say on the balance of probabilities we are unlikely to stop Tottenham getting into the Champions League!

Chelsea win the Champions League : Highly improbable

Arsenal win the Europa League : Very possible, but Wenger will definitely stay if it happens

Because I believe the players’ motivation when playing in Europa League are very different than when they play in Premier League

Because I believe the players still love Wenger, due to the fact that Wenger gave them huge salaries for relaxing

Extra motivation if they have to fight for their daddy

Arsenal and the latest topics are full of bs. There is nothing one could even dare tllk about other then the the future bec the present is coco jambo and not worth spending time thinking about.

If the board refuses to sack Wenger soon then this club is officially dead. And if you decide to keep on supporting it by spending your money and your precious time on Arsenal then you are a no life idiot.

Give up supporting the Arsenal, because you say so, who are you? your not even a proper fan. I’ve followed Arsenal for sixty years , through bad times as well, many times we finished mid table but I never gave up on them. I’ve been a Wenger out man probably longer than you’ve been supporting Arsenal. Your problem is, you’ve only known success or maybe not, maybe your post Invincibles. My first bit of silverware was in 1969, 11 or 12 years after I started going to Highbury and that was with a great Tottenham side down the road winning the first modern double plus European trophies. If you’d have been around then, you’d would have been a turncoat, yeah, straight to White Hart Lane and regretted it like many Spurs supporters done in the early sixties.

Spot on Kenny. You follow your team through thick and thin; praise them when they perform well and criticize fairly when they underperform. No one wants fair weather fans. There are plenty of plastic fans elsewhere. Arsenal red and white for 56 years.

well said Kenny. what is this guy on? so much doom & gloom. Arsenal’s like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re gonna get. some people just like to whinge… still, at least it aint affecting the players….( come on arsenal!)

Am just laughing anytime I hear the word motivation, this arsenal players are not good enough period. Even the smaller teams are now playing from the back without panicking which the almighty arsenal goalkeeper and defenders can not try without conceding goals by some funny errors.

How many times do I need to say this, we can’t win the Europa league. Milan will embarrass Arsenal home and away. I’ve been watching Milan’s match since the start of the season. Vincenzo Montella was their coach before being sacked in November bcos he keeps experimenting and has no clue just like Wenger and they named Gattuso as the head coach from the feeders team though they suffered in December but Rino turned things around.
Watch out for that suso guy as he will turn our dummy defenders to a cripple.
I can even name their formation and starting line up if you ask.

Mark my word if we eventually get a new coach only three players Will survive from this current team

The most improbable in that is Arsenal winning the Europa League with Wenger in charge.
If he had been sacked a couple of weeks ago, we might have a chance.
But not the way things are going under him.
We should in stead be happy, if we don’t finish so low in the PL, that we won’t get Europa Legue next year.

Very stupid article.. how does Tottenham going to the UEFA make us better? Admin please can’t you stop baseless articles like this? Yes we are rivals to Tottenham but can’t we just concentrate on our team and leave theirs alone, our days of celebrating our team being ahead of them in 4th rather than how we remain in 4th over the years is part of our problem now, I remember the season Leicester won the league we fans were celebrating that we came second and topped Tottenham instead of getting angry that Leicester won the league but see what happened the next season and now? Bunch of Losers we’ve become just like the players n coach
