Complacency a BIG concern for Arsenal in FA cup

I can perfectly understand why there is a lot of good feeling and confidence around Arsenal Football Club at the minute. The Gunners sit on top of the Premier League despite our injury problems and even those are getting close to being over, while Arsene Wenger sounds more ready to make proper use of this transfer window.

And after back to back FA cup trophy wins, Arsenal could make history by winning it again and despite the fact that we have been drawn against a Premier League club in Sunderland, it seems to me as though a lot of the fans and Arsenal players are already looking forward to the 4th round and that way lies danger and disaster.

How often have we seen Arsenal getting on a roll and getting a run of results with some fantastic performances, only to surprise everyone by coming up short in game we are supposed to win with ease? Too many and I have a horrible feeling we could be heading that way again.

So while I can understand the likes of Mathi9eu Flamini and Calum Chambers talking about our recent FA cup glories I would like the boss to sit them down and inject a bit of urgency in the squad and make sure there is no complacency knocking about. Do you think Arsenal are too confident ahead of this cup clash?

  1. by now they should know there isn’t any easy game. should remember soton, sheffield wed even recently the newcastle game where we escaped by a whisker.

  2. Injuries are probably the biggest concern. With so many fixtures there’s a need to rotate, but with so many injuries we don’t really have anyone to bring in except for youngsters.

    1. Concerning this:

I don’t think Alexis is suffering a setback. I think Wenger is just being EXTREMELY cautious with him. That being said, hopefully he will feature against Liverpool or at least Stoke.

Arteta is back, meh. I don’t think he has any business on the pitch anymore. Maybe a late 10 minutes from the bench.

And Rosicky is back in full training next week! So he should make the bench for Stoke or Chelsea at the latest. Oh and reading that Coquelin is already running, so he should be available at the start of February rather than March.

  3. I’m starting to wonder if the lackluster performance against Newcastle was more down to the cutbacks in training?

Wenger is taking it easy with some of our key players during training as an alternative to not being able to rotate them, even though this is a good way of resting players by not burning them out, the downside is that their fitness levels will drop and muscle injuries will more than likely occur during games.

Still no announcements regarding Elneny ?
    Maybe tomorrow Jack ???

  4. The FA Cup is not
    a major trophy for
    a club like Arsenal.
    The EPL should be
    our soul 🙂 focus.

  5. Welcome our future team guys.
    The year is 2025

  6. There is something fishy about the Alexis injury. Now wenger says he is not ready for Sunderland and doesn’t say when he will be back. The Welbeck saga started in similar fashion

  7. It’s our cup and we should put the best team out because all the top teams are getting done this season. Big Sam will put a team out to win end off. We did them 3-1 but it was far from easy. And it’s a cup game and only thing they might be able to win and play it like that they will so MR AW keep our cup do it again whoop 3 times COYG

    1. Not sure we can’t rotate a bit for this but I do agree, Alladyce will not roll over and any press comments stating Sunderland need to concentrate on the league are just misinformation. We will need to be focussed and ready for a battle.

    1. 12 hours ago twig.
