CONFIRMED – Arsenal starting XI to face Nottm Forest – Only AMN keeps his place

Hi everyone so we are nearly starting the defence of our FA Cup crown for the second year in a row. I wa sure that Wenger wouldn’t be playing many first team players, but with the League Cup semifinal coming on Wednesday and the chance to rest more players I could have been wrong. But here is the team I predicted….

Ospina
Debuchy – Mertesacker – Holding
Nelson – Elneny – Coquelin – Maitland
Walcott – Iwobi
Welbeck

So here is the Official team picked by Wenger to face Forest….

Well I wasn’t far out! I was right about Maitland-Niles being the only one to keep his place!

  1. Should be good enough to win. All youngsters on the bench. Would be good to see Jeff and Nketiah get 30 minutes or so.

    1. Iwobi and Willock would be the playmakers. Iwobi would drop deeper to help the other midfielders and maybe Welbeck would be positioned behind Walcott (I hope Walcott does not get offside-trapped again).

  2. What the heck inside wenger head
We already lose in the premiership title race, even mybe big 4 spot.
Play second/reserve teams in europe, corabo, even fa cup
What he is traying to achive…..

  3. Good team have faith in youngsters, let’s see how they perform.Arsenal is a big club and our acdemy should produce good player.

  4. Don’t get too cocky about us taking care of Nott Forest. They may be 14th in the Championship but they could still upset us innit.

I think we will win though, hopefully

    Niles still on the left???
Also, Nelson is in wrong position too.

  5. Good test for those who say we have a deep bench … If the bench can’t beat mid table championship side then we have the answer … Would have expected giroud or lacazette on bench just in case though … Actually quite looking forward to seeing the youngsters in a competitive match … Wouldn’t be surprised if Iwobi does ok even though I dont rate him

  6. If we win this we could see what players can step up to the 1st team. If not we will no who can take the exit

    1. Actually it’s a back 4!

Like the set up with available personnel!

But have same question – where is Coquelin? A transfer away from Arsenal? If so I would be a happy Gooner?

Com on the Gunners! Let’s do this!

  7. I wonder if refs are out to get Nottingham Forest, because that was no offside.

Nottingham must feel the refs have a conspiracy against them.

    Stupid Wenger!

  8. Mert….thank you buddy
We will miss BFG next season innit

We are struggling but Meanwhile Spuds up 3-0

  9. Maitland -Niles is a spcial player, really a bright spot to this mis season, very confident on the ball,

  10. My god most if these players are not mid championship level … Sue right Iwobi is utterl utterly sh@@@ … Thought he might look better but sell sell sell … Where s the 30m quid man .. Another quick sell … Ospina holding and Nelson have looked good … But that’s about it

  11. I am looking the line up and do shake my head. Not that we need a new manager, but also more quality players at the bench

  12. It seems to me the coaching staff cannot teach pressing at any level … Until this changes we will not compete at the top again …

  13. Conceded another goal. God help us bt what was wenger thinking fielding this crop of players?

  14. why does Iwobi keep getting chances, lmao. not good enough. We might be out of our own competition guys. What’ll Wenger have to con the club into another contract?????

  15. The senior players look out of depth at this level, Welbeck, Walcott, Mert, Iwobi (senior because he is a regular first XI), Elneny.

I mean they all have international caps but look like the belong in the Championship tbh.

Iwobi maybe even lower than that.

  16. Don’t know which is more excruciating, listening to one more stupid sentence from R Savage or watching some abysmal defending in patches. Give me a gun.

  17. And we have no one on the bench to come save us. Unless the 17 year old Nketiah is up for it, again.

  18. See this tippy tappy football is no use. These young arsenal players are playing like a training game.
The snail defence is being shown up for what they are. USELESS!!

  19. If we lose this and Wednesday I just hope the true supporters will stand up at the next home again and show what we think of the kroenke wenger axis if evil…the whole club is corrupted from top to bottom

  20. 45 minutes to turn this around. Just thinking how many managers would take a gamble on the team selection knowing this is probably our only chance of a trophy this year

      1. no doubt, second goal had no chance to stop, while elneny stood by and watch him take the shot….

        1. Ospina was in the wrong place at the line and he didnt move
at all looking at the shot
One first class goalkeeper will jump towards the ball
          at least now 3-1

  21. Oh well, at least we can concentrate on the league now…… sorry should have said 6th place in the league.

  22. so this is the depth that are required to carry us to top 4 in the prem? really? no wonder we are in trouble, welbeck & walcot seem useless. but against mid table championship league team…

  23. It must be the Ref’s fault for not disallowing all of Forest’s goals and not awarding Arsenal penalties. After all it can’t be AW’s team selection and tactics or his player’s fault.

    COYG, we’ve got this…

  24. What happened to Holding. Shocking positioning all through that first half, at fault for second goal then gives penno away second half. The boy seems well out of his depth which is a shame considering last seasons heroics.

    1. 9/10 CB’s we get just become worse under Wenger. This new guys we just signed would be smart to keep asking for loans until management changes. AW hasnt got a clue as to how to train competent CB’s. He can buy, Evans, Pique, anyone he wants, and they’ll go rotten.

  25. He can’t still be in a job tomorrow after the team he put out… We’re defending the cup ffs. This is a total embarrassment

  26. isobi, walcott & welbeck all fighting for playing time, and its BFG that has the only goal, time to clean house, gonna be tough to attract talent w these type of embarrassments,

  27. It’s ffing embarrassing … I expect wenger to admit this is as far as he can take this club and announce he is leaving at end of season …if he has an ounce of decency …which all his drugged up supporters claim .. That is what he would do

  28. How can wenger in his right mind field this crop of players for crying out loud. Can’t believe this manager has lost it completely.

  29. I do not blame the players. The coach chooses sideways and backwards ticka tacka style but without the forwards and quality to carry it though. Embarrassing .. for years now.

    1. of course the manager picks the team to play, & is responsible, but the player is also responsible for his performance on the pitch

  30. Oh no wenger will be given excuse of crap decision … Which it was but they were better … WENGER OUT

  31. This club is a joke, beyond farcical. How he will keeps his job after this is beggars belief!! #Tiredofthis

    1. he kept his job after losing 8-2 6-0 5-1 1-5 etc etc. we are stuck with him the yank owner and the snake gazidis forever. Arsenal FC RIP

    1. yup. this season needs to be a disaster for any chance of a sacking. Need to finish lower than 6th too.

  32. Theo is SHEIT!!!! Standing around, not going for the ball, basicly handing the ball over, what a waste!!! And you wonder why he is on the bench!!

  33. Please Wenger if you love the club just go. Tonight I have to explain this result to my children and tomorrow I will not be able to listen to talk sport or discuss football at work. You are a long past your best and any respect I once had for you has now gone

    1. many long term Arsenal fans are starting to realize this. He hasn’t been the same brilliant manager he once was for a lonnnnggg time. Way out of touch, and club needs to grow a pair and sack him

  34. Surely even Wenger must see that he’s got to go, he has done his utter best to make us a laughing stock.

  35. Look at what stoke done after the Coventry loss, even they have better standards than out board! No good moving the geriatric Pratt upstairs either, OUT MEANS OUT!!

  36. wenger gets his excure, like it matters… still down 1, would have gotten another PK chance… we got spanked in this match,

  37. This is the last arsenal game i’ll watch until we get better players, now i have to call in sick tommorrow

  38. this lineup was a complete failure by longexpired wenger but that pen was double-touch, it was clear to everyone. I really hope our new manager will have a strong self-control as the ref are out to get us.

    1. we were heading for a loss and didnt deserve anything out of that game either way. Not even worth complaining about

    1. I’m taking rest of the season off, too much . . . unless AFC announces a strong manager replacement with some $$ to spend, you can bet the players on last year contracts WILL be gone, Wilshere included!

  39. wenger will never learn.. I’m not a hate – guy but this game yet again has given me a rethink, infact d full crew working with wenger should be sacked for God sake. hw can u go into a match like dis without any of ur senior first team player on the bench to help out should incase a game is going side ways. holding, metersacker and debuchy are slow defenders den why play 3 @ d back. why is Ade on the bench. for crying out loud d likes of welbeck and watcott are no strikers or wingers, they should be out on loan or sold. what a poor performance not from d boys but from the manager.

  40. The one trophy we could’ve still won this season and he doesn’t even bring any starters for at least the bench if needed? Didn’t Kane start for Tot today? And we got Theo . . . JOKE!!!

    1. Perspective people,
Terrible loss. No excuses. The line up was good enough to win the tie.
Welbeck, Walcott, Iwobi, Niles, Elneny, Debuchy, Mertersacker, Holding, Ospina are all premier league standard players for Arsenal and should hold their hands up in letting the club down in the match. It was a learning curve for the likes of Reis Nelson and Joe Willock.
If Wenger had played Sanchez, Ozil, Wilshere, Lacazette, Mustafi, or Bellerin and any of them picked up an injury, you’d all be up in arms.
If you can’t field your subs against a struggling championship side, who would you field them against?
The only indictment on Wenger is the fact that he doesn’t scout opposition teams and prepare for them accordingly. He approaches nearly every game the same. Only recently has he begun planning for top 6 opponents.
