Confirmed Arsenal team for Sunderland – Ramsey on bench

THe only real concern that I have for Arsenal today in our Premier League away game at Sunderland is the central midfield area. With David Moyes and the Black Cats on a terrible run of form and the Gunners the opposite I think we are all expecting a rearguard action from the home team who would surely be delighted with a point.

So in order to break them down we could do with as much creativity as possible and that is why the continued absenSanti Cazorla from the squad is a concern. Arsene Wenger has at least got the bonus of having Aaron Ramsey fit again but he is clearly a bit worried about the Welshman’s match sharpness so Ramsey starts on the bench and Mohamed Elneny starts with FRancis Coquelin in the middle.

Also on the nech is Olivier Giroud and Wenger has either erred on the side of caution with Theo Walcott or the flying forward did not pass his fitness test as he is not in the squad at all. Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in with Iwobi on the other side of Alexis Sanchez. The only other change, again due to injury concerns, is KIeran Gibbs coming in for Nacho Monreal at left back.

Cech
Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs
Elneny, Coquelin
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Iwobi
Sanchez

Subs: Gabriel, Ramsey, Giroud, Ospina, Holding, Jenkinson, Maitland-Niles.

Will this somewhat depleted Gunners line-up still have enough to beat the EPL’s bottom club? Let’s hope so. COYG!

  1. Piece of Shi* injuries. Cazorla was supposed to be back for this match. Same long lingering injuries and false news to appease fans.. Hate it..
But still gotta support the team. COYG..

  2. This Sunderland team are looking dirty. Surely one of them will get sent off if they carry on.
I like that our defence is pretty steady,

  3. I hate to blow my own trumpet but my predicted line-up was spot on! I hope my predicted score is as well…..

  4. Elneny is a reserve player … Lateral lateral lateral … May as well put Ramsey on … Iwobi needs a year in the championship to progress … Gibbs still doesn’t convince … Game should be over instead a tight second period

  5. This team is surely not convincing that much,
Ps I thought carzola, Walcott and monreal were suppose to be in this game? What happened???

      1. We are always worse without Cazorla. And Walcott is our top scorer!
Bring them on for last half hour please Arsene

    1. To be fair, I don’t think the ref could really see it and the rule is that you have to be 100% sure.

  6. I blame this on wenger why can’t he see iwobi and ox unable to perform must he sub after 70mins?

  7. i was told sunderland stadium is called stadium of lights.judging from the referees decisions i see the lights are not functioning..

  8. I know we haven’t played well, but surely there must be questions around Martin Atkinson, it was the same sort of foul in the penalty area, but much more of a foul by Sunderland.

      1. I don’t know how they could get more similar …. both hands on the shoulder with more force applied to Alexs

  9. I miss Cazorla 🙁

    But too many negative comments
    The match isn’t over yet

We can still pull out a win 🙂
    Plenty of time

      1. U obviously forgot how bad Arteta was last season ! How everyone was complaining abt his back & side passing !

        1. What? I was implying that all Arteta did was side and back pass but also didn’t attempt any long shots and didn’t have the strength or tackling ability or pace to be a DMF so worse than Elneny at then end.

          1. That was exactly what Elneny was , his passes are mostly side & back passes , his only tackle was a foul , he was either out run or hardly made any effort to run for the ball first , his absolutely lack of creativity makes him an even worse player than Arteta !

  10. Another one

    Now I am happy 🙂

Lets hold on a few more minutes and this will be an excellent win
    Away wins are always excellent
Actually all wins make me happy 🙂

  11. Where are all those with negative minds, for me Elneny is trying his best, you can’t expect him to play like Cazorla

  12. So much negativity Jesus! Isn’t this El nino’s first or second EPL start all season? Give him time to settle and enjoy this amazing away win

  13. Alexis with Giroud was going to make our strike force much more lethal, as they make up for each others deficiencies – Giroud always seems to need a rest as well, when he’s played a lot of games, he goes off the boil.
