Confirmed Arsenal team to take on Chelsea – Alexis benched

Arsenal have named their team to take on Chelsea, and Alexis Sanchez has been left on the bench surprisingly.

Arsene Wenger will be confined to the stands for tonight’s encounter for his comments about refereeing decisions of late, but he should have less to worry about considering the use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) tonight.

The Frenchman has had limited choices thanks to a number of absentees, but you will be pleased to know that we have finally fielded a strong line-up for the Carabao Cup as we look to win the competition for the first time under the manager.

Our opponents also line-up strongly

Will this starting XI have enough to deny the Blues a first-leg win?

    1. In post Sanchez (possibly Ozil) era i guess this is a “strong” Arsenal side?
Welbeck and Iwobi on wings; are we trying NOT to score goals?
I stopped watching this boring game; kept getting distracted watching paint dry and the grass grow.
Faster action, more entertaining, and no Wenger.
      Go grass and paint!

  1. Iwobi eh. Take drugs start against Chelsea
…and they say wenger isn’t modern lol

Team looks weak but here’s hoping.
    Ok praying
    Ok sacrificing a goat naked

  2. I don’t like wenger but to be fair that is the best team he could have put out there considering the injuries and the transfers.

there’s no need for someone like sanchez to play and they are leaving.

  3. Man that lineup is scary in a way that it is so midtable quality and it could be lineup next season after 1 or 2 injuries. some good players like lacazette, wilshere, mustafi and bellerin but too many average or out of form players plus zero world class talent like ozil or alexis to compensate.
Looking forward to see Niles playing, hopefully he and nelson develop well and take xhaka and iwobi spot in the squad.

  4. Lots to think about.
    Wenger in the stand.
Sanchez + Mavropanos on the bench.
    Fab starts.
Iwobi starts. Must have been cleared.
    Var on the sideline.
Chelsea start just one English player…shocking.
    Arsenal start 6 English players…fantastic.
    Anybody’s game.
    COYG 🙂

    1. Yes! All players take a dip in form. Lacacette scored on his first shot in his first game in the Prem for us. Which was a record for quickest opening day goal of I’m not mistaken. How long did it take for Giroud to get his first goal? What was it 8 games with him playing as the main striker and given plenty of game?

    2. Yes! I do think Lacazette is better. All players take a dip in form. Lacazette scored on his first shot in his first game in the Prem for us. Which was a record for quickest opening day goal if I’m not mistaken. How long did it take for Giroud to get his first goal? What was it 8 games with him playing as the main striker and given plenty of game?

  5. Excellent by Arsenal so far.
    Perhaps Arsene really
    does know best?
Sanchez to come on and score the winner 🙂

    1. Even a broke clock is right twice a day so …..

The hell with Sanchez we dont need players who dont want to play for us

  6. and once again we are robbed of a penalty against maitland nails.if the one against hazadr last week was a penaly this one is one also.

    1. Yep only difference is this one was for us if it was in the other box id say more likely given as it would be against us.

      1. Its early days for VAR.
It works well in Rugby + Cricket.
Var is not perfect but at least
        we are using the technology.
        Give it time

    2. Yes, it is a well known fact that we don’t get given four or more cast iron pens every game and we are never guilty when one goes against us. All the refs and refs association are Arsenal haters and refs are the entire reason we don’t win all trophies going. CONSPIRACY THEORY RULES OK!

  7. Yet again, no shots on target in a first half, and Wenger’s meant to be an attacking manager! Embarrassing!

  8. So the exact same touch was a penalty on Hazard, but not on Maitland-Nyles.
    Wonderful.
I have less and less desire to watch the English league.
No wonder no referee from England has been chosen for the World Cup.

  9. I am from Algeria and i wonder if our rerefrees are not better than the english ones….a complet JOKE!!!!!

    1. I don’t know what the Algerian refs are like pires but they can’t be any worst than the the English ones, that’s for sure

  10. Our best player is taken off injured, arguably the best on the pitch and Alan Smith says it’s not going to affect us. Some pundit him

  11. Good move that, bringing Alexis on, if we sell him to City and reach the the final he’ll be cup tied
