Confirmed Arsenal team to take revenge on Man City! Welbeck starts!

Arsenal have named their starting XI to take on Manchester City tonight, and Danny Welbeck is a surprise inclusion in our side.

The Gunners have been forced to leave Jack Wilshere sidelined due to an ankle knock, meaning Aaron Ramsey gets the nod to play alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield, but a couple of unforced changes have also been made for the tie.

Petr Cech has been returned to team after missing the last two outings, while Danny Welbeck has been thrown into the side, and looks likely to line up out wide, although there is the potential to play in a front two with Aubameyang, although the formation looks likely to be 4-2-3-1 to start with.

Is this team strong enough to give the home crowd something to cheer about? Will home advantage ensure that there is no repeat of Sunday’s defeat?

      @Goner boy
do a re-setting for your phone. that message on your phone is not for you.

  1. Goonerboy

Revenge? Not sure about that as i dont think this will have any bearing on our league campaign.
I already want the season to be over

    1. sanmi.marvellous

I hope you know Iwobi is only starting from the bench tonight ?
So we should be winning. Isn’t it ?

  2. Alatari Douglas

Down by 1 already, Arsene still doesn’t know our defence is nt good enough, wow!!

  3. Rkw

Wenger a goner surely now … A humiliating loss at home must b too much even for the loonies on this site

  4. dboy

Three Arsenal v Man City games this season

Arsenal eight shots on target one goal
City nine shots on target seven goals

  5. Alatari Douglas

Man city is jst disgracing arsenal & they aren’t even playing that good. I feel so bad 4 us bt what can I do I’m nt d one managing the club.

  6. Coldzero

Some of you almost seem smug we are
Losing? Bit weird….must be that new breed of Arsenal fan.

        1. Coldzero

Was hilarious wasn’t it….side splitting in fact….not just haha funny….but hahahahah funny!

          Now that’s funny.

Now if only I was only one of the Wenger in brigade….which unfortunately for the joke I am not…..

      1. Dee23

To be honest I see no point in delighting in our defeat when Wenger will still be manager next season anyway. I’d rather we win as much as we can win if the same manager will be at the club anyway. I don’t know about all this lobotomy talk I and others like me support the club not the manager and therefore want the team to win every time they walk out on the pitch. If I genuinely believed or rather was gullible enough to believe that by having a large defeat it would result in Wenger leaving and a top manager coming in I might feel differently but I can’t even image such a scenario even hypothetically.

      1. Arsene Out

I am gutted too, I hate it, I am punching walls, but if it means that scores like these will make sure Arsene is no longer our manager next season, then bring them on! I am happy for us to loose every game left to play this season to make sure that senile old man leaves and never comes back.

  7. Innit

Ive turned this match into a drinking game.
    Got my shots of vodka
    1 shot for City goal
    2 shots for Arsenal goal

  8. bran911

How’s that revenge going gooners? This is the real team arranged by the specialist, and still AKBs think we gonna revenge on this super Man city side.. hahahaha

            1. Maks

No, wenger lovers think everything is o.k.
You can not explain to them… they have a father complex or something… crazy.

  9. Alatari Douglas

Manchester City will always be better than Arsenal until the board takes drastic measures 2 reshape the club. Imagine 3:0 by 33 minutes of play. What’s our excuse nw?

  10. Avenger

any naive Arsenal fan believes that we are going to win this game?
At the same time that the coach champion of failure is in charge
Arsenal will go down in history
Wenger Out 32 minutes first half 0-3

  11. RSH

Are we watching the final days of Wenger? I surely hope so! Hey, at least the team actually tried this time. Standards

  12. Alatari Douglas

Thank God we aren’t in d champions league & we aren’t getting back there this season either so what’s next for AFC?

  13. sanmi.marvellous

We are down by 3-0 when we are 11 v 11.

What we be the scorelines when we are red carded which is very likely in the match

    1. Bob2

Wouldn’t mind seeing a proper tackle on sane. Haven’t seen anything close to a foul so far!

  14. Me

    What a pathetic bunch.
What a spineless bunch of cowards this Arsenal team is.
    3-0 down already.
Do these people have any pride ?
It looks like they are playing to get him fired.
The sooner it happens the better.
And I hope the new manager does exactly the same to them.
    GET SHOT
None of them are worth a toss…

    1. Goonerboy

The players want Wenger gone surely, or how else can one explain this?….thank goodness am not watching this, the only thing i miss is Wenger and bould’ s face as the goals flood in…

  15. Alatari Douglas

Arsene Wenger is completely washed out & he doesn’t want 2 realize this fact & step down, what sort of rubbish is this? I’m tired seriously…

  16. Me

Here is some perspective for you Wenger.
    YOU ARE SHIT.
AND YOUR TEAM IS EVEN WORSE THAN THAT.
    A DISGRACE !

  17. sanmi.marvellous

    Save by Cech.
We’ve seen the first shot on target by City that didn’t enter the net.

    Improvement !!!!

  18. gotanidea

Ozil cannot even turn creatively like Sane and Aguero, let alone have the same vision as Silva and Brune, but some people said he is of different calibre?! He has been a joke since he signed for Arsenal!!

  19. bran911

Auba could be crying everyday at home, BVB could win Europa, but now he is in this shi**ty team which can’t even try to play football but are happy with their big salaries and never want to be criticized

  20. Innit

When your miserable its nice to have fellow gooners to cry with

    I love you guys.????
    Hiccup. .hiccup

  21. Sead_Sau

do we need to spend time for the 2nd half of today?
i think my girlfriend is waiting for me on bed..Wenger shit!! Auba plays like Bendtner just bcoz he is under Wenger

  22. dboy

Reality Check!!! Disband BSM and Red-Army today and Wenger wil crumble. By next month he will be out.

  23. Waal2waal

…iv only just seen this and it saddens me – we are in real bad shape and anyone who loves this club will know bould and wenger is a comedy act – somebody… anybody …step in and save this club from a state of freefall – i was having a decent day, only to come in to this.

      1. Waal2waal

yes @Sue – i though a half-time-draw might be something to come home too but this hurts while at the same time it signals change. HE has to go …it’s embarrassing (tbh)

        1. Sue

Yes I thought we might be up for this…Will we EVER have another clean sheet???? And will EVER score again??? Gutted…..

          1. Waal2waal

dreading the second half, I really am… anyone who thinks wenger can take us any further, think again. Hopefully we’ll see ancelotti, simeoni or the monaco manager in place – iv had it up to here with this pile of sh**e.

  24. Bob2

Welbeck and Mikhytarian United rejects. Awful the pair of them. Mourinho gives us these two clowns and we give them our best players.
    Who is missing Sanchez now?
This Boomerang guy may score loads of goals in the German league but not in this league.
The January transfer business isn’t looking so great now!!!!

  25. dboy

Who signed this Kolasinac Fellow? Oh wait another Wenger freebee!! You pay peanuts you get monkeys.

  26. John0711

Tbh we are playing better than at the weekend but so are they. The gulf in class is so apparent. There are some players trying such as miki auba and Ramsey
But kola cannot defend and it’s soooo obvious we need a nasty DM to stop their play

  27. ayodeji

It will be 8 0 to night, Wenger will come and asked us to focus on the positive ,and respond in our next match,

  28. Steven Wilson

Everyone saying Man City goals were world class but let’s remember they are up against the worst defensive team in the premier league.

    1. Alatari Douglas

U jst summed it up boss, I’ve never seen a defence as poor as arsenal’s defence

  29. Muff diver

Reckon we can win this .
    ….game of monopoly I’m playing
    Arsenal ? Arsenal what ?!
    Oh .no what lol
    There screwed

Mkhi running up to auba now like …

Yo pierre wanna get out of here ?

  30. Wolf

Well Hello my fellow goonies. Things are looking up although I feel sorry for us I feel Wenger will be out ….In the morning, by 12pm. Best really Maybe we could win europa if he leaves in time?

  31. barryglik

I wonder if that young boy
    who was crying at Wembley
    is watching this.
    Elneny tweeted
“For the sake of you and the sake of all the gunners’ fans
I promise you to fight to draw the smile on your face”.
Mohamed is on the bench yet so there is still time to make the lad smile

    1. Muff diver

      Haha bazza that’s funny
Mo to channel his inner romario an get us back into this

    2. dboy

Here is the irony. How do we convince these young lads to support Arsenal in the future, when they keep having these traumatic experiences. My eight year old son refuses to wear his shirt in public.

  32. Footballistrivial

Without a proper midfield and defence nothing will be achieved. Oh please give me back cazorla and rosicky.

      1. Footballistrivial

Ozil will never be even half the player cazorla and rosicky were. He’s not bad of course but he’s nothing compared to these two.

  33. Ackshay

Can you believe we are actually playing better than Sunday but problem is city are in a form to hand a beating today. With better finishing we could have 1 or 2 goals and this game is a reflection of Ramsey importance as he is our only mid who tackles, makes runs off the ball and is able to track track. Others ball watching most of the time. We need to throw xhaka in a bin, get a kante like dm then if we can get a better version of Ramsey no problem.
City finishing is deadly today, sane is killing us and city are playing counters tactics as possession is shared which is unusual for them.

  34. Gelz

How long is the grieving period going to be after this defeat 3 nil down and its only half time

  35. Goonerwinit

First world problems really.. all’s good ! No one is dropping bombs. Wenger will leave ……..one day

  36. Gooner Craig

Loool the title is hilarious:. Take revenge and Welbeck starts in the same sentence ?

    1. RSH

to be fair you could replace his name with any Arsenal player right now and it’d be just as ridiculous

  37. Rkw

Once a team loses it’s way everything goes wrong … The fossilized prophet has led us in to the wilderness and has no clue what to do next … He has to go …

  38. dboy

Can it get any worse? What were these guys told at half time ? No Purpose!!! Then again they will be defended all week long.

  39. John Ibrahim

obviously no one is looking at the game but juz the scores which was expected

we were much better than sun against Fifa18 team with 280m defense

city is playing with very high confidence and morale

they had 3 or 4 shots on target and score

we had 6 or 7 on targets and fail to convert including a penalty save

      1. John Ibrahim

Wigan parked the entire bus and got lucky with a break….

City totally dominated that game…it could have been 10 nil or more if Wigan played offensive….

We could have done the same…park the bus and defend and defend….but it would be boring….

We are an offensive team…and if we don’t dominate and score…we will get punished by a stronger and quality side…

        1. AndersS

We are not really an offensive team. We are just a team, who can’t defend, and that is an entirely different thing.
In fact as we are so poor at defending with our offensive players, that we can’t win the ball in the opponents half and that really doesn’t make an offensive team at all.

    1. Rkw

Jesus Christ … The gulf between the teams is massive in every department … Take of the Panglossian wenger specs and watch the dam game

      1. John Ibrahim

isn’t it quite obvious they have players that are leagues apart from us???

2 world class players at every position

look at how much money they spend on quality players…..

Take FFP away and they will bring in players over 150m price tag such as Neymar, Mbappe and etc…next season

  40. barryglik

Wenger has to sub some one soon
    but who’s fragile personality can
take being blamed for the loss?
Auba 55milion just missed a pen?
    Welbz the only English starter?
Mkhi the swap for Sanchez man?
    Ozil the main man?
Rambo Arsene’s God son ( feeling the injury might be an excuse?)
    Kolasinac the brilliant freebie.
Xhaka the 30m DM man of steel?

  41. Alatari Douglas

so arsenal cannot score @ least 1 goal against man city, even from d penalty spot. wow! we’re finished…..

  42. Sue

I’ve just read that Cech has conceded more goals for us (3 seasons) than he did with Chelsea (11 seasons) wow!!!

  43. Maks

Wenger: We were unlucky… we had many chances, penalty missed, referee was against us, there were blue lines and no snow on the pitch… … but we are preparing for the next game… thats our job!

    Me: nobody lasts forever!

  44. Gelz

Good its over, I was beginning to think that, that was going to be another embarrassing defeat

  45. Waal2waal

…think about it …we we’re beaten by that team beginning with “O” the other day …so everyone wants a piece of us now; some have actually expressed they’re sorry for us – others cynically say keep wenger in – no longer the gunners, more a case of the cannon fodder

  46. Sue

I’m so depressed now… how much more do we have to endure???
What’s the betting Murray gets a hat trick against us on sunday….
I never thought I’d say this but I can’t wait till the season is over…. don’t even know if I want to go to the Watford game anymore ????

  47. Gelz

@ Arseovertit I’m as frustrated as most of the fans at what our team has been allowed to become, its just my anger being turned in to sarcasm. I am waiting for that man Wenger to leave our club so we can start again.
