Coquelin believes Arsenal CAN progress in Champions League

There is no doubt that every single Arsenal player was awful in the home Champions League tie against Monaco, but it is equally obvious that the team has bounced back in tremendous fashion by beating Everton, Man United, QPR and West Ham. So much so that Francis Coquelin believes that the Gunners can still go to Monaco tomorrow night and get the three goal win needed to progress to the next round.

“It was a big blow when we lost 3-1 at home against Monaco,” Coquelin said on the Official Arsenal site. “I don’t think anybody expected that but I think we pulled ourselves together, went to Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final and won 2-1 in a big game.

“It was another great performance against West Ham. Qualifying for the next round looks impossible but you never know in football. Hopefully we can get a great result over there and then move on to the next game.

“There’s quite a lot of things to change after you lose 3-1 at home, but we’ve done that in recent games. We haven’t conceded many goals and we’ve been scoring goals as well.

“We haven’t lost a game since Monaco and the confidence is high. We’re going to go there with great spirit and I think we can turn this result around.”

Arsenal have had a few false dawns this season, but the team is now in their very best form. There was obviously some confidence problem in the first leg especially as we were hot favourites, but now with nothing to lose, perhaps we really can go to Monaco without fear……

Let’s BELIEVE until we can’t believe no more! COYG!

  1. Belief is good, but need to play hard, play positive

We have the ability and quality to win by three goals. Very difficult with Monaco’s defense, Kondogbia and their home crowd (Monaco has a good home record I heard) but we have the quality to do it

        1. let’s just hope we could….
we are just seven points behind chelsea now
i know that they still have a game in hand but nothing is to be taken for granted…. even if it’s a team like burnley or liecester

    1. Le coq is the man of the moment. Let’s crush Monaco.coyg, giroud to score twice, Sanchez and welbeck will round it up,4-1 to us…coyg

  2. I always believe he had a beta chance to succeed than frimpong…intelligent and calm. just like wilshere, frimpong thouht he was the next makalele..no tx to our English media.

Flamini has been bad all season was dying to see him replaced with le coq, I guess there is somefin good in ‘this is bad’.

Wenger is good but he’s not a genius, le coq trains under hm everyday and he cudnt see his quality until he had no choice than to use hm, had it being one of wilshere or ramsey was fit then…he wud ve used one of dem as our defensive midfielder…SMH

I luv this guy, not sure he has taken any shot this season…and y should he…its none of his business.

    1. @bayjerkoff
I believe, had Frimpong concentrated more on his football. Been nurtured better in his position and given more match time, he would have been a perfect pairing with Le Coq.
But having watched him play yesterday in the Russian Tundra League, it seems his footballing career is over…

      1. U rite sha…but I can remember a game they were paired, le coq stayed back and frimpong played as the box to box midfielder then…just like arteta and flamini

  3. Man city lost, chelsea and southampton drew! One more result to top off a great weekend for us gooners, man u and the spurs playing to a draw! Coyg!

  4. Good positive attitude by le coq, thats the mindset we should have going to france! Would love if le coq scores against monaco also! Coyg!

    1. I would rather he better protect the back4 and help them in keeping a clean sheet for us….I would literally appoint him 1st choice for next season as well…

  5. Wow. How can a player as slow as Fellaini get in behind your back four to score from a through ball? Tottenham are so poor hahaha.

        1. Oh crap maybe not

          3-0

          Lol
Oh well, at least Spuds lose so it’s not a total loss for us lol

    1. @Sumo
He had not other choice. Townsend was gettin owned. He reminds me of Theo. All pace and nothing else…

    1. Man U next 3 games-
      At Anfield vs Liverpool
      Manchester Derby
      At Stamford Fridge vs Chelsea
They will drop points and make our rivals drop points too. We just need to be careful ourselves.

  6. Oh well, it looks like United will be 1 point behind us.

Anyway, next weekend we are away to Newcastle. It will be tough but United will be away to Liverpool so we will get another chance to break away from United provided we beat Newcastle.

Main thing is to keep winning because we are ahead of United and one point behind City. We are a Manchester sandwich

  7. This is a team we dropped 5 points against, getting battered by a team we just beat on Monday. If only we were more consistent, then Chelsea dropping points today could actually really mean something.

    1. You are spot on Mick – winning this league is 90% about consistency and mental application – all this talk of we need world class this and world class is just a smokescreen. I would like to see a top, top CDM come in to help out FC and we are good to go next season. This squad with the right mentality, decent tactics and a sprinkling of luck are good enough to win the PL next season. If we are not right in the mix I will join the chorus looking for change because I don’t think we will have too many decent excuses left – we have had 2 years post-spending restrictions, removing deadwood and getting the squad to gel – now is the time.

  8. I dont like our players talking, they should better keep quiet and play when required.

On to the next game, let’s just give it a shot.

  9. Thank god we didnt have face this MU side on monday. It would be foolish to underestimate them. let us keep winning and try to finish as high the table as possible.
