Could £50million EPL star be the answer for Arsenal?

Half of the Arsenal fans on here reckon that we need a new beast of a midfielder as an enforcer in front of our quite solid defence, but the other half would prefer that we get a talented playmaker that could fill Santi Cazorla’s boots. We already have Ramsey, Xhaka, perhaps Wilshere, Coquelin, Elneny and hopefully Cazorla himself available this season to fill the roles but I doubt that any of them fill us with confidence right now.

But could the Everton midfielder Ross Barkley be the man to run our midfield? We know he will command the premium prices that English players carry, but we also know for sure he is available after turning down a £100,000-a-week new contract with Everton.

The Toffees manager Ronald Koeman made it clear that he will be leaving, When asked about whether Barkley would be leaving Everton he said: “Yes, 100 per cent.

“We made a good offer to him to sign a new contract, he declined that contract and told me that he is looking for a new challenge.

“It is not (an) Everton future any more, it is his decision, I need to respect that and then we will see what happens.

“My priority is not Ross, with respect, it is his decision. I look more to other players. I knew (this) at the end of the season.”

With five weeks until the end of the transfer window there is still a lot of action to be had, and with reports saying that Barkley is looking for £150,000-a-week at his new club, it has been rumoured that both Arsenal and Man United may be willing to match that commitment. Who thinks that the England international could be our mainstay midfielder for the forseeable future?

  1. He is not what we need at the moment, unless he is replacing Ramsey?… No?… I thought not, ?? that’s a shame.

  2. Sounds good but I don’t think signing him will win us the epl title. I love Arsenal but I’m also realistic. We need to add more world class players in our “average” team. The other teams added world class players into an already high quality squad.

  3. Would you say he is much of an upgrade to what we have already? Seems less injury prone than wiltshere and Ramsey but doesn’t feel me with a Warm fuzzy feeling. Would be an OK signing but nothing that special. I think Everton will be a threat with what they have brought in this season, surprised he doesn’t want to stay

    1. Yup, I agree that Everton will be a force this season, ?? even West Ham have improved their team, they have done well during this window.

  4. I’ll take Ross Barkley any day over Ramsey or Xhaka. What Wenger need to realize is that the Ramsey and Xhaka combo is not working. Ramsey has yet to find his ideal position, but he is not a mid-field player, that is for sure. Xhaka lacks the speed and the confidence to play as a holding mid-fielder, for sure not at his current form. Wenger should not evaluate players based on the amount money he payed to acquire them. Elnany may not cost him much, but by far he is the best holding mid-fielder Arsenal has as this point. Couqlin is the engine of the team. he is one of the best stopper in EPL. He tries to cover so much ground from the get go and he gets tired or injured in the process. Elnany and Couqlin pair is the best combo from what we have. Wenger should give up on Lemar, who is not available anyway and get Mahrez to strengthen the front. Getting Ross Barkley is a no brainer, he is awesome.

    1. I would rather not take him, to repeat the same Everton saga in 4 more years and asking for more pay for average performances primed with few good ones

  5. Arsenal about to get Seri-ous ?? According to Siri, it’s a done deal, Ask him, yourself ? ??

  6. 50 Million for Ross Barkley? Dang !!! what is going on in today’s transfer market? i rather take the 50million and try to get a better deal done. LEMAR !!!

  7. If we can offload Ox and Wilshere, I’d be up for getting Barkley. 50mil seems a bit excessive though. Probably can be bought for around 35-40mil.

  8. The ones that we are planing to sell are even better than him, what is happening at arsenal for goodness sake

  9. Would much rather see Wilshire given a chance to redeem himself and that’s saying something. Barkley buggering off just as Everton gets its shite together tells me everything I need to know about his character. Just say no.

  10. Would seem strange to lose Ox and Wilshere and buy Barkley, he has characteristics of both players, i am trying to remember which season has Barkley not been injured. He is a very good player, but yet to really stamp his class in a team.

Ok would he be an improvement to our team , NOPE! He would actually improve the size players we have in the midfield, but not by much. probably a last minute buy if nobody else comes in, but at 50 million, NO WAY. the most 30

  11. Hell No! He isn’t the type of player we need cuz we’ve got players of his calibre in that role already. I’d prefer a DM rather

  12. You’re having a laugh aren’t you?

Ross Barkley? £50m? Leave it out!

If he’s not good enough to assist Everton in pushing for a top-four spot next season, then what good is he to Arsenal?

    He’s just another over-priced inconsistent mid-table player.

  13. Arsenal coach need to buy players. We need players. We need to win EPL too.if he’s not shame of himself, the fans of arsenal sometimes get shame when others fans are mocking us.

  14. I tink arsenal boss shuld concetrate on signing Manrez, rather dan westing his time on Bakley. which we all no’ he’s nt d kind of playe we need in d club: As for me, i tink Wenga is geting old and he shuld pls listen 2 advice?
