Could Arsenal force Alexis to stay whilst Ozil and Bellerin leave?

This summer is looking likely to be extremely busy for Arsenal, and the latest reports claim that a player exodus could happen also.

The whole season has brought talk of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Arsene Wenger leaving, with the manager in his final year of his current deal, and the duo nearing their final 12 months of theirs.

The German international is claimed to have had a price-tag slapped on his head, with a supposed £42 Million asking price set, with contract negotiations having become a nuisance for those in charge of the club.

Alexis Sanchez however is claimed to be happy at the club, and although terms are yet to be agreed, the club seem willing to play hard-ball and refuse to sell, amidst uncertainty over other players.

Hector Bellerin is now claimed to be a key target for former club Barcelona, and the Spaniard may well push to leave. Arsenal look destined to settle for a Europa League spot for the coming campaign, having lost too much ground in the push for the top-four, and Bellerin may look to leave amidst tough times in North London.

The Spaniard has also been dropped to the bench in recent weeks, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain starring as a wing-back in Wenger’s new formation. This only adds to the speculation that he could quit the club, and he is a key player who no Gunner would be happy to see leave. Hector is under contract until 2022 however, and should he leave, he will most certainly command a hefty fee.

There is a huge amount of uncertainty at the Emirates currently, and only when Wenger’s future is confirmed will we really be able to gauge a realistic summer transfer window, although the Frenchman is claimed to have been tasked with a mass-rehaul of the squad should he stay.

Would we sell both Bellerin and Ozil? Could we really keep Alexis beyond the summer without a contract agreement?

  1. When mass overhaul is needed and there is money to spend, Wenger is the worst person for the job. He is the king of economics. Give him a tight budget and ask him to get the best result possible, he will deliver. Like getting top 4 consistently while in stadium debt. But change the gear to big game and someone is needed to spend 100s of millions every year, you need someone with heavy balls, excellent transfer accumen and the the ferocity and determination to fight of other big spending clubs. On top of that you need someone who can manage the big names in the dressing room when the going gets tough and there is sadness and rebel all around. Wenger is not that guy. He is small time in a big club. To be fair, he is a top donkey when the stakes are small, but to compete in the world series, we need a horse.

  2. We need someone like Mourinho, pep, allegri, conte and etc…that knows how to spend big and get results

But it still depends on the board if they will release the funds

Wenger out board out players out

  3. YAH SANCHEZ BETTER HE STAYS WITH BELLERIN FOR OZIL NEXT SEASON BEETER HE PLAYS AS ASUBSTITUTE COZ WHEN IT COME TO AGE SANCHEZ WILL PUSH EVEN UP TO 35 HE LIKE C7 BELLERIN IS YOUNG ANY TIME HE CAN IMPLOVE

  4. Lacazette wants to join a club with champ league football

    There you go…another player missed

  5. I believe this is the beginning of the end for Arsenal.
This will start with him signing a new contract.
Then rejection from top players and failing to strengthen the team.
A failure to keep what decent players we do have.
A failure to adapt new tactics and strengthen our resolve and team spirit.
A failure to qualify for the CL in 2018.
    More fan protest
All watched over by Wenger – the specialist in failure.
Unless the board grow a pair of balls and do something about it..

    1. This has set us back for 10+ years. Even a new manager will need years to get us back on track. The managers who have the ability to attract top players despite not being able to offer CL football will not come to Arsenal.

  6. For me Stan Kroenke needs to be the first one to go. He doesn’t care about the club. I bet he calls it soccer too.
Arsenal need to rebuild the squad and sell about 8-10 players. I’m fine with Sanchez and Bellerin leaving to play CL football elsewhere. I’m also fine with selling Ozil, Wilshere, Giroud, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Ospina, Debuchy, Sanogo and Welbeck.
What I don’t understand is why the board won’t start fresh with a new manager too. Let the new manager build a new team. It really is frustrating to see Wenger make the same mistakes every year.
I’m not joking, I would seriously prefer to see at least 10 other mangers, even Tony Pullis manage Arsenal next year than Wenger.

    1. Look at it this way. Arsenal spent £200mil on wages this season yet we are only just in front of Everton £85mil and West Brom £65mil on the table.
That’s how bad Wenger is and with his record against Man U and Jose, who is confident Arsenal will win this weekend? Because if we lose we are 100% out of the top four.

  7. Let them all go. Let Wenger go.
AFC will remain (even with a disinterested owner and shameless board) we can begin again.

    1886 NOT 1986

  8. Wenger can’t force anything. He is a dithering fool that has surrounded himself by yes men.

  9. There is no way Alexis is the type of player or personality you can force to stay. He will become impossible to handle and become a negative influence. This guy has been forced his whole life “to fight for every scrap” that’s why he is such a fighter. You think he will just serve out his last year and then leave for free to a PL rival? For me that is unthinkable and unwise. A player wants to go you have little choice but to let him go.

Ultimately it would be the fans who would pay the price for such a stupid move. Sanchez would have to be demoted to the reserves where he and his 50 million pounds value will dwindle whilst we are looking at Olivier Giroud’s beard growing in or new hair do.

If Sanchez wants to go cut your losses, take the money, add some and try to get a top replacement capable of 20+ goals per season.

  10. And what Wenger doesn’t get in his arrogance, is players don’t like the uncertainty of not knowing if he stays or goes.

Our lacklustre performances of late are partly due to this IMO.

Just do what’s best for the club and tell the world…either way, you silly old fool.

While trying to act all proud and tight lipped (as if it’s only his business) he just doesn’t get how ridiculous it makes him look, and that’s the irony.

His legacy is now tainted and he will be forever known as consistently unambitious.

  11. If Fenrebache want him go for $30-35 mil thats all he is worth. Not fit to be in the premier league. Get Isco in for Santi , get Bakayoko of that other Dm at Manaco the brazilian and Lacazette or Dybala. With Van Dyke or that big napoli CB also the left back we anr meant to be getring for free and Mwe will have a squad to win the league with the right manager
Sell Ramsey, monreal, gabriel, ozil, campbell, ospina, giroud

  12. The problem we have in selling players is their salary at Arsenal.

We are over paying so many players, there is no reason why they should leave if they don’t want to. How many teams are going to pay the likes of Walcott, Ramsey Giroud etc what they are currently earning? This is one reason I believe Ozil will stay at Arsenal, no one else is going to offer him £250k per week based on his performances this season, simply because he’s not worth it.

As for Sanchez, the only time I’ve seen him look happy in the last 6 months was when we beat Middlesbrough, apart from that he’s looked pretty disinterested. If he wants to go, let him go and get the most money we can for him, I really don’t care where to be honest. If he goes to City or Chelsea he won’t be 100% happy, as he likes to be the kingpin in the side he’s playing in and to play every game, neither of these things he’ll be at any top club. And let’s be completely honest here, while we have Kroenke and Wenger at the helm, we’re going to fall further and further behind Chelsea, City, United and maybe Spurs and Liverpool as well.

I know this sounds particularly depressing, but I’ve seen nothing over the past few seasons which indicate anything else.

    Anyway, happy Wednesday people.

  13. Started reading the comments and wow, what a miserable lot we are!

The club is for the most part, in excellent health. The manager can easily be replaced and even if we have a bad season, all is not lost, we can easily reclaim our top 4 position as well as challenge for titles – as long as we have that desire at board / management level.

    1. If we don’t finish top 4 for a couple of season, watch Kroenke protect his investment and sell before he loses any value.

As fans, we need to get behind the team and keep demanding better results and desire from the players on the pitch.

The negativity online is soul sapping, even as a supporter. Imagine what it must be like for the players (who admittedly need to show more fight).
