Could Cazorla still return after being named in Arsenal’s Europa League squad?

Our little Spaniard Santi Cazorla was expected to have played his last game for Arsenal after having yet another operation just before Christmas, but now perhaps Arsene Wenger still harbours hopes that our brilliant midfielder could return to play in our Europa League games this season.

Wenger said a couple of weeks ago that he expected Cazorla to return to Arsenal very soon. The Boss said: “The latest news is that he is supposed to come back now. He had his latest surgery and we have to see where we go from there.

“I sent him a message two weeks ago and wished him well, hoping to see him soon. He has not come back yet because he has just had surgery. The medical people know much better than I do whether he will play again in 2018 before the end of the season. Before the end of the season will be hard for him.”

But now it appears that it is a possibility, and I’m guessing that our medical team must believe it’s possible or he wouldn’t have been added to the squad?

The full changes to our squad, as revealed by UEFA, are:
In: Santi Cazorla, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Out: Chuba Akpom, Krystian Bielik, Francis Coquelin, Mathieu Debuchy, Olivier Giroud, Marcus McGuane, Tafari Moore, Julio Pleguezuelo, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, Alexis Sánchez, Ben Sheaf, Theo Walcott

It is good to see our new young Greek defender is also included, and hopefully he will progress enough to get to play with our seniors, right now i’ll take anyone instead of our current mistake-ridden defenders. Henrikh Mkhitaryan can also get a game if we get far enough, but poor old Aubameyang is ineligible….

  1. Cazorla has been sorely missed. Our little maestro. He owned central midfield innit. Nobody came close to dethroning him.

We need either Cazorla back or a similar player AND a strong defensive minded central midfielder.
Wish we had gone for Seri and Goretzka. Last summer £36 mil for Seri would have been £36 mil well spent. Certainly better than £35 mil for Xhaka.

I hope only the best for Cazorla. Miss him too much

  2. Cazorla is coming back.
    Song is taking his medical.
    Sagna is resigning.
Lord Bendtner back at the Palace.
Park chu-Young has landed at Heathrow.
Andre Santos is house hunting in Finsbury Park.
Squilacci is working KFC in Drayton.
Chamakh has opened a shisha lounge in Islington
Dench Frimpong is selling “product” outside the Emirates on match day.
Francis Jeffers still can’t hit a barn door but has been recalled,
Sanogo and Asano are searching for the training ground.
RVP is saying the little boy in me said I must return.
All the good ones come back says Arsene.

  3. If he came back, I would start missing Coquelin next because Cazorla and Coquelin played very well together

    …………………Ospina
    Bellerin…..kos..mustf…kolsanic
    …………Cazorla….Wilshere
    Aubameyang..Ozil…..Mkhitaryan
    ………………..Lacazette

      1. That’s the thing, people seem to think we can play a midfield without any defensive player and somehow get away with it. Even the great Barcelona and Real Madrid always play with a DM or two but not us…who needs a DM to win back the ball or intercept passes or make necessary fouls? We are Arsenal the ball will find its way out of the opposition and onto Ozil’s feet by magic.

        1. The last time Arsenal had a top-4-quality DM was back in 2007 – Gilberto Silva.

          Can you imagine???

In the same window we then sold Gilberto and Flamini, our only 2 DMs, and bought no one, but instead promoted Denilson to the senior team. Denilson, who I believe now plays in the Brazilian second tier. Jeez!

And people wonder what Wenger’s biggest failings were.

Underestimating DMs and goalkeepers (the always half-asleep Almunia, anyone?)

  4. Off topic just watched Auba’s goals and cant help thinking what a player Dembele is. My god the assists were unbelievable. I hope Mhki and Ozil can service Auba that way.

      1. Thought the same thing when I watched it. Was expecting Mkhi to have set allot of them up, but Dembele is an excellent passer and crosser of the ball, very intelligent player with some mad skills. Reus too looked a nifty player. We have Mislintat now, Dembele Auba Lewi lets hope he does the business for us, it’s been a good while since we found world class players before they become world class.
