Could West Ham help Jack Wilshere get to the World Cup?

All Arsenal fans are hoping to see Jack Wilshere get his first Premier League start against West Ham this evening, especially now that Aaron Ramsey is injured and Granit Xhaka is woefully out of form, but will that be enough to convince the Englishman that he will he will get even more gametime as the season progresses?

Jack has been told by Gareth southgate that he needs to play regularly as a defensive midfielder in the Arsenal first team if he is to have any hope of going to the World Cup with England, and if Arsene Wenger can’t give him that assurance then he will have to look elsewhere or give up on his World Cup dream for another four years.

Now he has been given a possibility by the hammers manager David Moyes, who has openly admitted that he is keen on taking him to the London Stadium.  “Jack Wilshere would be someone who we’d have to look at if he was available,” Moyes told Sky Sports. “I also want to make sure we’re looking at players who can be at the club for a long period and not just in for a short period.”

“Then there’s also the short-term fix for me which is how do we get enough wins between now and the end of the season? There’s a balance between that.

“That’s why those decisions will have to be mutually taken with [head of recruitment] Tony Henry, the chairman and myself to make the right deals,” the former Everton boss explained. “I’ve got an idea of where I need to strengthen. We’ve already said there’s a little bit of an imbalance but that can happen at football clubs.”

“Could January be the difference between staying up and going down? I do believe it could. I think if the right players are available we should try and do something. If we can get the right players, that’s the big part of it.”

Moyes has been brought in by West Ham to try and get them out of the relegation zone, and this weekend’s win over Chelsea will have given them some confidence for the rest of the season. Perhap’s Wilshere may see some good things in Moyes ability to motivate players this evening and consider going there himself in January?

It would certainly increase his chances of getting into the England squad, wouldn’t it?

  1. Wilshere would be out of his mind if he moves to West Ham just for a chance to be included into the World Cup team. His chance to be England’s starting defensive midfielder is slim, because he has to compete with Henderson, Drinkwater and Dier.

  2. Ramsey is injured but Wenger will not play Wilshere as it can create a headache for him when Ramsey come back.

  3. Wilshere, much like Giroud, will be going to the World Cup regardless if they are starters or not. They offer their national teams something they won’t get anywhere else.

Ah, it’s the World Cup year. I can already see the excuses Wenger spats out for terrible displays in August.

“Our players were rested from the World Cup and are not 100 % match fit”

    1. You already know it.
When he signed his thoroughly undeserved new contract I don’t think the delay was due to crossing the “t” and dotting the “i”. He was simply finding new excuses for his pathetic managerial performances.
Wenger is at Arsenal for his own selfish needs – he has said many times that walking away from it is unthinkable for him.
He clearly is completely incapable of making Arsenal into a team that anyone can take seriously anymore.
He could not care less about what the paying fans think – he has made that perfectly clear.
He is just there for himself and to hell with the results.

  4. Wenger should consider signing Omar Abdulrahman.

The guy is very skillful and talented. He can replace Ozil. Very good passing and composure

    A Player worth signing.

  5. Wenger should sell at least 1 to 3 of our central midfielders and sign better ones. However, he won’t do it. He thinks Eleny, Coquelin, Xhaka, Ramsey and Wilshere are all the bees knees of the PL. They are as good as Kante, Matic, Pogba, Wanyama, Gundogan, Toure etc. Wenger is delusional
